This is the first high quality knife I bought at like 16 or 17 years old in high school. I'm 26 now. It's never failed. I have zero need for another big knife. It dose everything. I don't need smaller knifes either. It's insane how absolutely solid and usable this blade is. My only complaint is that I have not bought 3 more to give yo my future children in 20 years lol
Just got my BK-9 and didn't think of removing it's finish until, I saw the patina on YOUR KNIFE! OH I really like that! Great video and also subscribed too!!!
They come RAZOR sharp out of the box. My thumb paid the price while trying to lightly oil the blade. It’s head and shoulders sharper than anything else I’ve collected!
Got one, had it for years, cocobolo wood handles and a custom leather sheath, and would never get rid, ever...love this knife for everything and all.....👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🍺🍺🍺
I got a Bk9 too and I also got my kydex sheath (ranger green as well!) from Valhalla but mine is pancake style and has a very tough nylon belt loop because I told Matt over at Valhalla I don't want a high carry, so he threw in a plat with a really thick & though nylon belt strap and I have been carrying my BK9 ever since. I love my sheath, Valhalla does it right.
Just bought that exact set up. BK-9, macarta and Valhalla sheath. Think I'm going to strip it ,mirror polish it then spot blue it w/ super blue and furniture brown for a case hardened effect. Thanks for the vidio, love the mustard thing.
Bought it all on Amazon, three separate orders. BK was total $117, Valhalla kydex taco in FDE was $62 delivered, tan linin makarta scales $47. I've got a 9" cold steel magnum tattoo in Japanese San Mai. But it's a display queen. I want that Bk-2 survival sheath! Trick!
I like the knife, but would like it so much more if Kabar didn't stupidly skeletonize the handle. Makes no sense they did that. I also have the RD9 which doesn't have a skeletonized handle.

Thank you, I carry this knife in my jeep for self-defense now

Great video. The BK9 is next on my list. Thanks!

Nice.. do you have a picture or a link that I can see what you’re talking about?
Pretty cool. Thanks a lot. Hugs from Brazil.
Enjoyable video; thanks for sharing.
I love mine anything I needed it for it never let me down yet
Sweet! Love that knife! Great video ❤
Thank you
Great knife and video
Great knife! Had mine for 12 years. Only bad memory involving this knife I got is the time I made a minor mistake and misplaced fingers with it.
Thank you for the comments and sorry for your loss
@@APTSynthesist thanks, could of been worse. Besides! Builds character! lol
Very good video (not boring). Thinking about purchasing the Kabar Bk9 or the Esee Junglas. Thanks for all the info on the knife and the sheaths.
Thanks I appreciate that

You bought it like that? Must be aftermarket because I had to do all that myself. Super blue sounds awesome can you tell me more?
Hey Doc I'm a fan dude.

Nice that’s pretty close to my set up. I know what you mean about the display queens I have several of those as well
Hello from Savannah Georgia. Welcome to the south.
Hello, thank you
Just subscribed. Good job. Leaned some things ✌.
Thank you
Yep that pocket sheath is intended for the bk13 remora
Would be cool if knife companies started nitriding the steel like gun parts manufacturers do.
I know right
I'm going to use your mustard trick to my BK 9 and BK 2 ..and try stone wash then shorter mustard patina
nice
You mention a video about changing the coating of this knife. Unfortunately I can’t find this video. Can you sent me a link? Thanks
Kabar BK9 mustard patina

Fair point
According to Google 57 hardness is softer steel? Prefer Damascus 51/60 no coating 1/4 thick like bk2
RD9 is 1/4" thick of 5160 and almost identical in size to the BK9. However, Kabar stupidly skeletonizes the handle of the BK9 and the RD9 does not.
The sheath that comes with the BK-2 has a great retention but its glass infused and actually dulls the knife dragging it in and out. Just sayin.
Thanks
The newer ones have a relief cut so the edge won't touch
Yeah im not a fan of the sheath. I had the D2 till it got stollen, which comes with a sheath more akin to the valhalla sheath
KA-BAR D2 EXTREME STRAIGHT EDGE.
Where did you get that bk2 sheath
Amazon CFK cutlery
It’s a beast unfortunately mine has a slight uneven edge on one part but the rest of the edge is great !
That sucks
@@APTSynthesist Is it easy to fix though? Because it is slight
Maybe, how severe is it?
@@APTSynthesist Only 2 inches on one part the rest is completely fine though
I’m sure you could probably refinish it if he really wanted to put the effort into
beehive honeycomb pattern more than snakeskin pattern
thats fair
dont transfer hot coal on your knife It will mess up the heat treaatment
Good point
@@APTSynthesist 👍
Chapstick
any chance you want to sell or give me your MOLLE sheath that you are not using
Maybe
In 4 years you did not save any money for nice micarta scales? So greedy. :)))
