Probably so the effects work without having to press pause and play again cause if you switch an audio clip to another channel the effects wont apply unless you press pause and play or you normalise it

16:27 you can see him remove the insert on the master connecting to track 6 which makes it so he can have a mixer insert with just his mic and disk recording on and then after recording the vocal switch the insert to another insert with a preset that connects to the master so he can hear it
