You threw it in our faces when Calipari went to Hogville (thanks for that), you threw it in our faces when we hired Pope, and now what we've been saying about Calipari for the past 4 years has been proven right. You said we were being greedy for expecting more, but we knew he was washed. You said Kentucky owes its success to Cal, I think the opposite has been proven true. I wish Cal was better, even with him being at Arkansas because he gave us some great years and great memories, but the game has passed him by and he is incapable of adapting.

Hog fan here, Fayetteville resident. I live 5 min from campus. Haven't been to a Hogs game of any kind since 2016. Until the athletic department shows they give a s*it, I'll just watch from home.

The guys that Cal coaches typically come and go and they get drafted based on their raw talent as in they're still raw when they leave!!! Arkansas has the players to be a top 10 team the problem is they have a top 300 coach. It's beyond me why Arkansas hired a coach who's been on a spiraling downfall for year's now. Several years ago you could see that his coaching style was not working anymore.they say he got soft but i believe its more than that. Arkansas's only hope is that he retires after this year. It’s supposed to be that easy most money wins but unfortunately for us it’s even more importantly that we have the most intelligent people managing that money and not being afraid to make the unpopular hires and I hate to bring it up but did u see all those UK fans that were furious when Pope was hired and that AD didn’t care and now he has came out looking really intelligent, now had Hunter had a chance to hire Cal and went with the smaller less popular name everyone in the fanbase would have been furious but it’s all about making the best hire and our athletic department I feel has made the lazy hire imo , I hope we can turn it around with Cal but absolute worse case scenario is another season of this and prolonging this thing if this is who Cal is now .

When do the fans finally look at themselves as a fan base? We had chances to sustain success in the past but just like with Jerry jones with the cowboys, the donors and common folk can’t stay out of the program. Look at how the Houston Nutt/Gus Malzhan and Mitch Mustain was handled. Even before that most likely with Lou Holtz and others. Once they have one bad year or a little adversity, yall are ready to fire everyone. There has not been consistency like the other schools that are successful. We finally got the best coach in college basketball + a top 5 class and look at what happens. Look at Muss even though he brought us back, once he has a bad year yall just go off on everyone. Look at all the coaches and players that have come through. We have had a countless number of top talent, a good amount play professionally. The common denominator is our attitude as a fanbase. Do you think these kids would rather play in Arkansas or somewhere where their brand is recognized or even closer to major cities? Even those that live there want to get out. Arkansas is not a primetime destination and when the fans continuously runs off players and coaches, eventually the program will get worse than it already is. Look at ourselves fan base and don’t think that we are not reaping what we sow.

Being born and raised in the state and as a hog fan, I could not agree more. I have moved away after graduating from the U of A and I am glad I did. Being near the west coast close to Vegas, phoenix and Denver makes life more exciting than the boring same ole stuff in Arkansas. It gets old fast and it is frustrating that the fans don’t see it!

As for "identity", I have to admit that I'm not sure what you mean. I know what identity is, but how that relates to football is what has me stumped. Consider Ohio, or Alabama maybe? They're both competitive at football....always have been. Have you ever been to any of those states? Spoiler alert: they both consist of a BUNCH of poverty ridden, plain, featurless, uneventful jerk-water towns ...pretty much like every other state has. The doors are the same size, the toilets are the same size, they have the same stores and serve similar food....they're just places. Arkansas is just as good (if not better in many ways) as any of those places. If identity were indeed the hold up then....great. We could call the team the Arkansas quiltmakers, or the Arkansas deer hunters or Arkansas cat fishers....it matters not. If it gets a 12-0 season and a national championship, ...GREAT!....I'm all for it.
