Front Tension Strut (Lower Control Arm) replacement BMW X5 E70 and how to use ball joint separator

- The tension strut could be a cause for suspension noise. My X5 has over 170K km, so I assume both tension struts are shot. Today, I’m going to replace it.

Glad you liked it! But now these bushings started leaking the fluids... Thinking of replacing them with solid rubber bushings. I need a bushing tool 😅
Good video, thanks for sharing, and for the tip on the ball joint separator, it’s a great tool.
You may also want to try using a penetrating spray like “Big Shot” on the ball joint, you will find that it should make a big difference in helping dislodging it.

いつも楽しく拝見しております。私のは2002式E53Ｘ５3.0iですが、96.000㎞でフロント足回りのがたつきで、スタビライザープッシュロッドを左右交換しました。それでがたつきが改善されました。今で136000㎞ですがロアアームはまだ交換していません。まだ全然大丈夫です。タビライザープッシュロッドの交換もご検討下さい。

Really enjoyed the video. Im about to tackle this project this coming weekend. Where were you able to locate the torque specifications for the job?
Usually, torque spec info is online, typing BMW workshop manuals or similar phrases. And look into the Tightening Torque section. But these databases are tend to be huge volumes, so take a time to locate the specific page. Meanwhile I’ll post in the video whenever I come across finding one 👍 Good luck with your next project 🤙
Do you need wheel alignment after chaging the thrust arm?
Some say it is better to get alignment. But I'm thinking of getting an alignment after replacing the worn-out tie rod since replacing the thrust arm doesn't affect the alignment dramatically as the tie rods 🤔
