Me too - quit my job in education 3 years ago (aged 53) and began learning plumbing alongside general handyman business. Began replacing waste outlets, taps and TRVs then 18months later fitted my first bathroom. Next job is my first water main!

You are very good at telling the story with good editing. You bring a good bit of humour and personality which not many youtube "how to" vids do. Thats why i like your channel. You with your head in the inspection chamber is hilarious. Saying all the things i say when im trying to do diy jobs!
You should make sure you have your Weetabix next time you wanna bend a pipe!😂

😂 It hasn't made it to the playlist yet 🤦‍♂️ I just got lucky with the no leaks 🍀 I'm sure I'm setting myself up for a disaster later down the line

Nice one Aiden, a sort of “challenge Anika” episode, especially with the cameraman following butt cracks. Many of us having a go at DIY I feel have these moments of success that balance out the painful parts, it’s addictive 😀👍

Ah no just juggling too many things to get out more than 1 video a week. Brain has been in overdrive trying to resolve something.
Fingers crossed 🤞 let me know how it goes

Hahaha 😂 you running around checking them all within the minute. I would just have run it full for 20seconds then turned off and then gone to inspect for drips afterwards. You have more energy than me with all the running around. Not gonna stop or fix a leak mid flow anyway so don't need to catch them live in action like 😂
Thoroughly entertaining though. 👏 bravo, good job on everything, very inspiring.

Warning! Put an end cap on the end instead of the end in a bucket. The joints are not under pressure with the water on with an open end. They are under pressure with water on and a closed end. Learn from my mistakes or others' mistakes!

Good point, maybe an isolation valve at the end would have been a better option 😬

Brilliant insight! Of course - seems obvious now, and hopefully less damage

Ha.....just like me when I was 25....keen as mustard and ready to tackle anything. Cept....its been 38 yrs. Yep and now I'm 67 and still not finished building my country residence. Funny thing is I have just started a complete update / renewal of my well water (which took 7 years to dig and line with bricks and mortar) and water treatment plant because.....I had to move from coal to oil and needed a nice new oil boiler which meant a complete re-org of the water supply under the house. 6 weeks in now and now into plumbing the boiler (NAVIEN combi). So much to do ha.

Haha I do hope I'll be finished alot sooner than 38 years time 😁 I look younger but I am actually 38 myself... So maybe it'll take me just 30 years instead?!
That sounds like a massive task! I had considered hand digging a well myself and would have used the concrete sections but ended up going for a drilled borehole instead

How did you get the mdpe pipe up under and so close to the wall without it kinking?

    • @THE-AIDEN-PROJECT
      @THE-AIDEN-PROJECT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey, see this video from 5:50 th-cam.com/video/Us3O2r1pBe0/w-d-xo.html hopefully you can see that it enters the building lower down than the block and beam floor so it can bend round. That's one of the reasons I reduced that part of the pipe from 32mm to 25mm so it was easier. MDPE pipe is pretty hard to kink though, either it will go round or not.

Tie tissue paper at the joints. Turn on. Wait 30 seconds. Turn off. Stroll round slowly and check tissues for dampness.

Your doing that heating wrong , you heat the pipe both side of the fitting first so that when it melts the solder inside the Yorkshire fitting both sides have come to the right soldering temps and you have not melted all the solder out of the top of the fitting before it seals . As soon as the solder shows stop heating and add extra solder to the top of the joints so it sucks extra solder in . Once it runs all around the joint it's done . It still works the way you are doing it but the chance of leaks is greater and the joint is weaker .
