    Three generations working together to give the youngest a boost really warms my heart!

      Please! This young lady needs a role on "The Big Bang Theory"! She would be a great addition, as her personality, smarts, quirkiness and the way she talks would be a good addition to the sitcom.

    Thanks for sharing I'm also in New Brunswick and off grid and have lead acid batteries here's a fact check lead acid batteries if fully charged won't freeze until -75 so with lead acid batteries you must cycle them once a day keep them fully charged if you can I also will be buying this Martin unit soon

    Very nice. Love the build. (PS: Grandpa's side looks a little high in the final shot.) 🙂

      Ha Ha... thought the same thing. Sometimes level isn't the best idea with horizontal lines behind. :)

    I hope the exterior siding doesn't rot around the vent. It should have been blocked out and properly designed to shed water and snow.

    Is there a reason that you chose this specific heater? Did you do a video on the specs, price heating area, etc?

    Your home is coming together! My husband and I are so happy to find your channel. We are moving to New Brunswick and are looking for some land to off grid on. If you wouldn’t mind could I contact you and ask some questions about areas, and permits?

    Also is it better or safer with a vent, this one is a martin, and mr heater are ventless, I tend to think that a vent is better, but would like input.

    What about the spacers? Did you not use them? Is your unit tight against the wall without the spacers?

    Has it been easy on propane? Great review and install

      We have not run it much as we are not living in the cabin yet, but I plan to next winter.

    What size of propane tank are you using to fuel this heater and do you have an estimate on how much propane you might use?

    • @backtothelandliving
      @backtothelandliving  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We are using 100 lbs propane tanks so we can move them to be refilled. We have not lived in the cabin through a winter yet so unsure on how much we will use but I plan on doing a video about that this coming winter.

    How did you hook propane?

  • @gpfmiller1977

    What has the performance of the heater been like? I am looking at something similar for our cabin in northern Ontario.

    • @backtothelandliving
      @backtothelandliving  ปีที่แล้ว

      We have not had to use it too much, as spring is on its way. However it seems to heat up pretty nicely, the one draw back is after install we were told it goes through propane quickly...

    • @CP-oe3kt
      @CP-oe3kt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@backtothelandliving Thinking of the same heater and from Cabin Depot as well. Did you ever nail down propane use numbers?

  • @jfaust97

    Why did you select a direct vent over a vent free model?

    • @SaabAholic
      @SaabAholic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For one thing, a vented model doesn’t cause condensation like the vent free ones do.

    It’s -38 here right now, I topped off a 30lb propane bottle yesterday around 4:00pm an after running it yesterday afternoon and last night I now have approximately half a bottle left an it’s only 10:54 am..
    Did not think this heater was going to be this terrible on propane..! To fill that 30lb propane bottle cost me 41.13 ..
    I even got up durning the night to shut the heater off an thought I’d be good for a while.. NOPE..! Wasn’t the case at all..!
    I bought the Martin Propane Direct Vent Heater MDV20VP 20000 Btu...
    Diff NOT IMPRESSED..!
    Along with the warm temps, also come high humidity. Currently +17, 18 in here with 52% humidity ..
    Current sq footage of my semi off grid shelter is 384sq/ft..
    Yup... am NOT impressed at all..!!!

    I apparently missed the last month's worth of updates. I found you not long ago and noticed you hadn't posted content in the previous 8 months so I was worried I had found a channel that was no longer active. I'm so excited to see you back. 🤍 Turned on the notify all, but we'll see how that goes... 😅
