    100mm Nordisk TX11 Rat Blocker geni.us/5W5817w (Amazon) £237.60
    As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
    I was recently contacted to ask if I would be happy to do a video of the Nordisk Rat Blocker TX11. As the name suggests, it's an impregnable double rat flap that inserts in your drain to prevent rats getting into your house. Rats often enter properties through the drains, by swimming up through the toilet pans, or by even chewing through the flexible pan connectors behind the toilet.
    As I have an open drain from my water treatment plant, I am particularly vulnerable to invasion by rats, and so I was keen to try out the product.
    In Denmark, which is the world leader in drain rat blocking technology there are very strict requirements for rat blockers because Denmark has banned the use of rodenticides (rat poison). The rat blocker must be produced in a material the rat cannot chew, all welds must be stained so they cannot rust, and the rat blocker must be blockage proof. Also, the rat blocker must be easy to install and remove.
    Each rat blocker is tested at the Danish Technological Institute Pipe Center, and the Nordisk Rat Blocker featured in this video has passed these rigorous tests.

    Excellent video. I'm looking for something like this and the quality of this product looks great. I have the odd rat getting into the cavity wall and loft. I put a trail camera in my sewer, fixed to the underside of the cover pointing down and on the first day it picked up rat activity. I'll be picking up one of these after I've had a CCTV survey of my drains into the house.

    Thanks for the informative video Charlie, the pest company I used for a drain camera survey recommended this blocker and now I know how I can install it and maintain it myself. My neighbour had one installed and it stopped the rats for him. Then the rats went 10m up my sewer drain and chewed a big hole in the 4 inch black PVC where the sink drain joined. Apparently they can chew through black PVC if they have an edge to start on, like a junction. All this is below the floor so will be laborious to fix. Don't under estimate how expensively destructive rats can be! This is a relatively inexpensive preventative measure. They had also chewed through the white plastic flexipipe but that was easy to replace with a black PVC bend. Little did I know that was just the start of it.......
    By the way, the price is now higher than is listed in the "show more" information.

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ray. I'll update the price. They're terrible pests aren't they, and if they get into the house via the drains, then that's the stuff of nightmares 😬

    • @paulsmith8289

      I've just ordered one of these off the back of this excellent video. Screw fix were cheaper than Amazon by £15 for the blocker and pole currently. I've got to pay for a CCTV survey as rats are getting into the cavity wall from the sewer somehow. I used a trail camera to confirm the presence of rats in the sewer. Thankfully I'll be rat free soon.

    Seriously, you might consider approaching the Danish company to be a broker for them, then make a sophisticated pitch to the mayors of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland. They're already famous as the epicenters for the "Ratpocalypse".

      Seems like if you ever had to put a snake down that drain, trying to pull it out would be a nightmare! As it would get caught on those teeth trying to come back out. This makes the drain blocker impractical and poorly thought out. :-)

Another way to state, the larger waste chamber is not something often used here. The question would be HOW TO insert the Rat Blocker into our system?
