Have seen this interview. Spot on. It’s unbelievable.
There is an article floating around written by a retired Switzerland finance minister living in Australia for the last 6 years. He hit the nail on the head by saying our country has just plain bad management!
Sorry, l couldn’t watch this interview again because it upsets me and there’s not a dam thing I can do.

I couldn't agree more, Matt Barrie's speech should be compulsory viewing for all Australians. He gave a more detailed speech at the Australia Institute of progress prior to the Equity Mates interview. The youtube of it is "Put another Aussie on the barbie".

I've seen the speech and while it's taxing on modern attention spans at just over an hour, it's a great investment.
Regarding politics: you may be disgusted by politics but it affects everything. Politics can't be ignored.

I don't even have to listen to your introduction. I know you're talking about Matt Barrie before you mentioned his name. He wrote an incredible essay on the same topic about four years ago. Its great to hear from someone educated, accomplished and far up the food chain like Mr Barrie is. Because he articulates precisely what most of know to br true.

This is not the first time (after listening to his interview) that I heard Australia's property market is heavily impacted by overseas money laundering bc Australia hasn't updated their money laundering policy along with only 2 other (small seedy) countries. e.g. the laundering laws in Australia don't apply to lawyers, accountant, real estate agents, property managers...Hello?!

Australia seems to prioritise "cheap" low value labour over skilled professionals. Australians are unfortunately disconnected from the realities which could lead the consequences.

Energy is the bases of all business and residential living costs and our costs are insane considering we have the richest natural resources in the world. Do the middle Eastern oil producing countries charge their citizens with insane prices no fuel is cheap and wealth is largely shared unlike here where the state openly robs its people and taxes the eye balls out of us also Business suffers and is given no incentive here to open!

I like your enthusiasm and excitement but I highly doubt it would move many Aussies.
This is the core problem of this country and politicians know about it that nobody would do anything about anything wrong done to the country or its system.

He was one of my university lecturers. Has flawed views, but definitely has merit.
He has also spoken on the topic of counter-productive capital outflows. Guess what is a prime example of that? People who migrate out of Australia, while exploiting its economy through its currency (and consequently applying downward pressure on the AUD).

While I don't disagree with what he is saying, he does not mention a major factor. - The fact that the banks do not offer fixed rate mortgages for the life of the loan says the government has complete control over whether you succeed or fail, and they push people to failure constantly. Raising interest rates clearly hasn't controlled inflation.

    • @LloydFulton-j3y
      @LloydFulton-j3y 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@@testicool013 I don't believe I said they did. Crushing inflation like we have in Australia leads to tighter monetary policy, leading to higher interest rates. Crushing inflation is caused by the governments actions/inactions. Does the government "set" the interest rate? No, but they are certainly the cause of it. My point though was simple, protection from varying interest rates in Australia does not exist like it does in other places, mortgages in Australia are very high risk and push people to failure constantly.

  • @bradgeary7765

I agree with some of your points, but I think its a bit more complex than politicians. A politician doesn't make the decisions for a business to transfer overseas, the business makes that decision, which is made on simple economics. During the 70's and 80's unions were powerful and used and many times abused that power. Yes they got better wages, conditions and benefits for workers but it was more expensive and less efficient for the business and more economical to move overseas.
So its much more complex than you make out, it is more than bad politicians, but then I suppose going on your rants ts Good for getting views.

That's not his only interview about the issues in Australia. "Put another Aussie on the Barbie" is another great one. International students are not export, it is another lie. They come here mostly to work and send money home. The more of those students, the more outward remittances. Stay permanently if they can is also their plan. Making things in Australia will be too expensive due to cost of housing that leads to expensive services. And it's not just here that the manufacturing jobs have been exported. That's what MAGA is all about. Resources do not belong to people but to those international corporations, really. Etc, etc. This system has exhausted itself, anyway. Ahead is more currency debasement, more inflation and more totalitarian government.

Come on, since the beginning of times student visa was the no1 immigrant visa to come to Australia by design. The riches wanted cheap/ many times illegal labour (coivd not started 40+hrs /week student work in practise) to do their low skilled work + the government friends of theirs get the fair share via school fees. The poor 3rd world people, who come here and live with other 12 in the same house are not the ones owning/ buying those houses. The criminals owning those houses keep 1+ million of them totally empty not even renting out to manipulate the market and screw over the supply/demand , paying fortunes to government to not release land and stop building new houses as much as possible.

You and your mate obviously don't know that when Australia manufactured cars and white goods and stuff it was done behind huge tariff walls which meant Australians paid multiple times the price for everything they bought. Australia cannot compete in manufacturing with extremely low wage countries like China and India and Vietnam. Why don't you know that?

It did not happen overnight... Australia was always making the high life via selling the natural resources (stolen from the natives along with the land), importing people to make housing big business and student "tourism" complementing it. Manufacturing was never really competitive, just a cope if you check the percentages/ numbers.
It is still a colony of the UK...
The riches who control it want more and more people coming > to push / keep wages down/ prop up GDP via consumption / getting passive income from rentals..
Politicians work for them, they are not stupid they know exactly what they are doing and why > for their own personal benefit > aka rich gets richer, greed is limitless.
Australia's Uber drivers are the highest educated skilled professionals out of any country. unable to find jobs for years...because everything is imported/ outsourced and companies going bankrupt in masses.
Mate, half of current Australia cannot even speak English, nor cares what are the economic numbers as getting their invisible income within their circles via cash, many driving luxury cars even to the toilette...
