  • Explain: Steph Curry takes over in wild Celtics ending with the Klay-Trayce three man game

    Bonus video at • Explain One Play: Step...
    Analysis of the 2023.12.20.GSW-BOS Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics game.
     In crunch time, the Warriors spammed the same three man formation with Steph Curry on the wing, Klay Thompson at the top, and setting a screen was Trayce Jackson-Davis (have I mentioned I have an irrational good feeling about this rookie?).
    Co-starring Chris Paul. With Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford.

      @@jessetanko1973 it means any coach will allow a player to follow and guard steph wherever he goes to stop his offense.
      Might even get them a bonus if they block his threes lol

    Eric's irrational love for TJD becoming more and more justified

    • @sgrey9181
      @sgrey9181 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      It was never irrational. TJD is a high-iq, athletic big. Basically exactly what the Dubs have needed for the past 3 years. He’s a rookie so he needs to adjust to the NBA. And he’s never going to be a big star. But they don’t need a big star. They need a reliable 15 and 10 player. That’s TJD in a year or two

      No it's been justified... now it's coming to fruition

      The slow-mo replay doesn't do justice to the speed of his decision making. You have to move fast on these plays for them to work. Any indecision blows the play up.

    Klay seems to be back. Kuminga and Moody taking huge steps forward. Podziemski and TJD looking very promising so far. Just need GP2 to get healthy and Wiggins to hopefully get back to form.

    SO happy to see Klay break out of this slump, we just need Wiggins to get hot again, and combined with the rookies, we’re looking GOOD!

    Trayce reminds me of a young Loney. If he avoids unfortunate injury he could be what Looney could of been and more.
    Still proud of Loon for what he’s done.

    Was fun to see that 51 play work in OT, earlier in the game the commentary crew was questioning why the Dubs were bringing Klay as a third man (and therefore his qualified perimeter defender, Jaylen Brown) into the screening action. In that earlier iteration Brown switched onto and locked up Steph. But in the OT rep, Steph counters by immediately hook passing to Klay who flares opposite the direction of Steph. Pretty sure curry adjusted his response to the Celtics coverage he’d seen earlier in the game and it worked perfectly 🐐

    Starting to realize screening is a lot harder than it looks. Always ragged on Wiseman for being so terrible at it. You need reps and a lot of game reps.
    Unless you are a KD type, traditional big guys should stay in college for 2+ years. You don't get enough game reps in the NBA in limited minutes.

    Why couldn't Wiseman figure out his role on this team

    • @oldmennewgames
      @oldmennewgames 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cause he is and offensive big, who wanted the offensive to run trough him. Also he didn't do rebound or rim protect good enough. He needed more time i college, so he could learn the basics.
