Chris, I would try to use something else to hold the boards. I feel that metal bracket will get really hot really fast , which will be a problem for the turtles crossing over
Finally!! I have been looking for what seems forever on examples of land/nesting areas that are out of the pond, verses the nesting area being above the pond. My turtles have a 8x8 stock tank that is above ground and I wanted to build their yard/nesting area on ground (lower)level. Thank you!!
Just some things to remember, dyed mulch can leach in the water and cause discoloration and maybe get eaten and cause internal issues, I suggest natural cypress mulch, and turtles will eat gravel which can cause impaction, I suggest using play sand or pool filter sand, and tomato plants themselves can be toxic, so keep an eye on em, other than that, it's an awesome outdoor setup, I wish the best of luck with your babies.
I love the half and half turtle oasis! I’m just now discovering your channel and I love it! There are probably updates to this but I haven’t gotten there yet. I like to watch the journey as it unfolds. So for now I love the water side as is but I’d probably put two posts as anchors on the end to give it a “dock/pier” look and any fishes would love to shade under the pier.
This is really cool. I'm a bit worried the little guys might fall off the ramp. I'd keep the rock slabs away from the ramp and build sidewalls that the guys can't scale. But this is something that I can learn from and hope to make in my own yard. I also agree with the comment below and I'd put a wire mesh over the top of the land side.
Really cool concept. It came our really nice. Something you could so different, though not necessarily better, is lose the wood ramps and go with rock instead. Build up the terrestrial side so it's closer to the top rail buy not so high that the turtles can climb out then place two large stones to either side of the passageway into the aquatic side and fill in between them with dirt as well. On the aquatic side, I'd just use big stones so they can step up/down to enter/exit the aquatic side. If you think you need a basking spot in there, you could always drop a large piece of driftwood in. It's certainly big enough to accommodate. That way you eliminate the need to replace the wooden ramps as they rot and it will look more natural. Like I said, maybe not better - just a thought for a different way to go since you asked. Keep up the cool ideas.
Your not worried about the little guys falling off the sides of the ramp on the “dry land” side? Maybe create sides like it’s a hill so they don’t accidentally fall to the ground. (That’s a high fall for such a small thing). Just a suggestion. Other than that I love it and am in the process myself of building something similar. Thanks for sharing!!
Hey There! I am coming over from 5M Homestead. Looking forward to checking your channel! My son is creating and working on his bait pond currently, I cant wait to show him your channel. Nice To Meet You!
I appreciate you checking out the channel! Tell Tobin I said thanks for sending you this way! We have quite of few pond videos coming out over the next month!
Christopher Scott I love your setup for the Turtles but you might want to change the wood that's in the water to something that want go bad like using egg crate and PVC so you don't have to change it often
Hi chris, great vid as always. I would love to see you do a breeding tutorial for the apistos, as they are a great fish to breed for profit. If you find that you cant get them breeding, you should buy some little terracotta apisto huts for them and space them out around the tank, and you should have some success.
How would someone protect their outdoor turtle pond from predators? There is lots of predators in my area and I feel like if I made one of those or something similar I would have anxiety if I left my turtles outside unsupervised. I would love to give them a place to get some fresh air and natural sunlight in the warmer months.
This is great. I am inspired to make something like this in my back patio. I am just concerned for predators. Do you think a screened-in patio is sufficient to keep out predators like feral cats, racoons, birds, etc?
thought about setting up outdoor lighting, do they need it and how to set it up so the rain wont get to cords or lighting?? any ideas /thoughts on this? or maybe outdoors don't need it? tho in WINTER even if I'm just setting up a outdoor heat matt how do i set up the cords to not get wet by rain?as it would need extension cord etc. ps I'm thinking more for a water turtle
The brackets may get too hot for the turtles and the drop from the pond to the land may be a little high. Over love the concept just some small tweaks left.
I live in the UK, I have a Turtle pond, does anyone think it would be a good idea to build a shelter with heat bulbs in? I know they get their heat from the sun but I was thinking it will be ok for my Turtle to.use if it wishes & when it's not such a hot day. Also, if I do build it shall I take it out of the pond & put it in the shelter so it knows where it is if he wants to use it?
Thanks for watching! I am truly grateful! Make sure you comment and let me know what you think!
I ain't got your notifications lately
Thats awesome
I would put sides on the ramp to keep them from falling off it
Really cool
Underrated
My sister has a Red-Ear slider, and I've been looking for something like this for her turtle. Great video, thanks to El Paso, Texas.

I thought the same. Perhaps cover it with repti-turf or similar.
No complaints. Looks good to me

A nice idea! Well done! Great stuff!

Chris, that thing is amazing!!! Great job!!!

Love the new setup, looks great!
Such a cool setup! I mean WOW!
Love this set up it looks great.
Can't wait for more of the rescues for your pond

❤. Good work
Well, my girlfriend seen this. Now it's time to start this build
I'm a turtle lover too. Great idea using two tank areas.
Thank you for the inspiration !!!!
You should put more fill dirt in the land side. That’s a pretty steep climb for those turtles.
Perhaps a sloping effect like a hill.
What a fantastic home for your scaly babies man!
Thats a rad set up
That was a lot of fun to watch
Loved this set up
Amazing video Chris
Nice job! Nice sunglasses too!

Nice build!
Those names don’t give me confidence for a long and healthy life 😂 😂 😂
Love the videos!!
Wow superb
Great enclosure!
Clicked on this never seeing any of your videos before and honest to God though you were Brian Shaw
It seemed a lil weird that you would rescue a turtle from a “pond”! But I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing

Man I wish I could do stuff like this but I'd have to bring them in for winter
I had a similar set up in Pennsylvania and it was tough during winter time 😅
A heater could be put in the water and well a nice and cozy shelter on land could be provided idk just my thoughts
This video was on 🔥, A+
Christopher Scott I love your setup for the Turtles but you might want to change the wood that's in the water to something that want go bad like using egg crate and PVC so you don't have to change it often
That is a perfect pond for those turtles
Great job 👍
With names like that, Ms. Stew and Mr soup are questioning that it’s actually a pond!😂
Great vid!
That’s dope

Are you still hanging with brenton I haven’t seen y’all in videos in a while
Just wondering if the turtles claws are enough to rip any pond liner?

I would put extra sceeen on top of your tank/pond
Awesome job!
This is so cool!!
Love This! I'm wanting 2 doing something like this but inside.
Tortoises should not eat unripe tomatoes, leaves, or tomatoes' vines since they are toxic.
love it
That looks great
Ten out of ten 🔟 🐢🏝🪨
Nice
😊
Amazing video ❤️
I really like this. What will you do with the turtles in the winter?

Great content wish finatic made content like this still much luv from florida
The ramo would be best for you to build it out of PVC. Wood rots.
What happened with you and Brenton?
Have turtles ever puncture the pond liner with their claws?
Hi Chris how come you don't work with branten from fanatic
The brackets may get too hot for the turtles and the drop from the pond to the land may be a little high. Over love the concept just some small tweaks left.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How much gallons is the pond?
I love it
Thank you!

Add fishes and water plant
Hello Scott, what is the brand of that filter..??
If you get another turtle name it Michael Angelo
What kind of wood and rock is safe to use inside the water
Dose the turtle damage the pond liner?
Respect and love
From Jerusalem, the capital of Palestine 🇵🇸 🇵🇸❤️🐢
Do you have hawks in the area
Man My turtles just hate the plants i give them, they last like a day before getting turned into salad
Early
My turtle name is turtleboss
Don't put any more plastic in please.
I love it
