- Somebody asked me how I setup for a battle so here is my process. I tried to throw in some gaming tidbits that I have picked up over the last couple of years.....
Here are my 3 big terrain tutorial guys I like to watch:
@TheTerrainTutor
@GeekGamingScenics
@DevsDice
Alex at Storm of Steel does a lot of tutorials as well as Travis at Tabletop CP.

Buildings I use (there are a ton of other, plus model train terrain producers)

As long as you are happy with your troops and battlefield.... that's all that really matters :) (that's my fortune cookie for the day)
Have a fantastic week and have fun gaming!!!!!
Steve
I was always interested in fortifications. Back in 1976 our family traveled to Fort Ticonderoga and I shot several rolls of 35mm film and convinced my father to make me a big model of the fort in 25mm scale. I did the research and after 3 years it was finished. My father was then asked to make a model of Fort Griswold as it looked in 1781 and it is on display at Moument House near the fort.
That is cool. I'd love to see Fort Ticonderoga one day. It's on my bucket list 👍

Lovely, thanks for showing how you set things up.
My pleasure. Thanks for popping in. Have a fantastic week 👍
Great to see the process that make your games so awesome
Thanks Martin. I probably would of never thought of the idea if someone didn't ask me to show it. Hats off to an awesome community! Have a great rest of your week!
Yeah, we use an army blanket over our table too. Looks so much better then having the hill sitting on top.
Totally agree 👍
That's going to be a epic battle on the table, the new stone fences will add the flavor of the era! Have fun!
The battle was awesome! I screwed up a few rules, but not too many 🤣. Like cow bells, you can't have enough stone fences!
Awesome nice to see how you put together your ideas on your game table and how you like to use terrain to get the best out of your rules,enjoyable watch an cool armies
Thanks Darrin! I appreciate the comment. I never would of thought of doing a video like this if someone didn't ask me. Hats off to an awesome gaming community! Have a great day my friend 👍
Great Job Babe!
Thanks my love. You are so silly 😜
Nice video a part of the process one rarely sees.Nice to see how someone sets their table for gameplay.Seasons greetings 🎄🐵🐻😊👍
Thank you so much! I hope you have a spectacular week, my friend 👍
@@basement1908 Thank you you too👍
Great job! Nice looking setup and really helpful to see the basics of how you go about setting up.
Thanks so much for commenting. I appreciate that. Have a fantastic weekend 👍
That games looks absolutely spectacular with all those units out on a table. I've always loved to have a table set up like this ever since getting into the hobby, but I sadly just don't have the space (or time to paint so many minis!). But seeing this has just given me another burst of inspiration to make it happen.
Thanks so much! I wish you the best of luck with whatever you find the time to get done! Have a great week my friend 👍
Now that looks impressive; well done sir! 👌😎👍
Thank you kindly! I appreciate that! I hope the rest of your week is fantastic!
Rock the House! Grea Job!
Thanks so much! Have a fantastic weekend 😀
Great insight into how you set up your table. Always impressed by the table itself. Well done, my friend!
Somebody asked... I was like sure, why not. It made the setup more fun anyway! Thanks Brother!
Holy Bajongers! that's a whole lots of figures. Looks stunning Mate ;
Thanks Rob! You are awesome Brother. Thanks again for all the help!
Hey Steve, a really cheap way to make a more realistic looking river (in my opinion) is to get a clear plastic shower 12:38 curtain (heavy enough & flexible enough to lay flat or roll up) cut out your longest straightish piece from one corner to the opposite diagonal corner,the width of your river. Use the remaining 2 triangles to cut out some curves, even a hairpin loop and maybe a couple of ponds. Now the tricky bit (so practice first) using spray paint or better yet an airbrush, ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE RIVER, spray the deepest parts of the river in the darkest colors you want to use,working lighter colors out to the shoreline. Now flip the plastic over and with a BRUSH, paint in some kind of shoreline. You can even mix in a bit of sand or even some rocks here & there for effect & to help hold down the river. When you layout the battlefield you can add more rocks,bushes & trees to really tie it into the landscape & weigh it down. You can use fallen trees, sprinkles of gravel at fords, beaver dams or bridges to hide & hold down the junctions where they happen. This avoids the clunky look of so many junctions you get with modular roads & rivers. I haven’t figured out how to fix the roads yet, maybe fleece fabric,painted over with a bit of sand or caulk ruts thrown in for weight but I don’t know how I might hide the junctions. Can hardly wait for this BIG ASSED Battle.Hugs!
I might be giving that a shot. My road and river game both need some lovin. As usual, thank you for your assistance. You are awesome!
Incredible layout and the troops look amazing. Well done with all your hard work.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. I hope you have a fantastic weekend 👍
Lovely Set up 1908, some amount of figures too 🙂
Thank you kindly. I still find it crazy that I have so many. Thankfully Doug helped me out with several Battalions of British!
It's really looking good can't wait for the game to start magic🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much! I need this work day to be done so I can get home and start rolling some dice!
Looks cool.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the comment! Have a good one!
Can't wait for this one Steve, as the movie once said "There Will Be Blood ! "
p.s. Get what you say about working on your rivers BUT personally I'd work on your road tiles first , for me so many short overlapping pieces spoil the aesthetics of an otherwise superb table
Roger that. That are both due for a much needed upgrade 👍
Looking great! Buildings are definitely my weak area. For whatever reason I have a hard time painting them up.
Me too my friend. I can glue my fingers together much quicker than gluing a building together 🤣
not at all a fan of the period but MAN you pull it off well!
I owe you a BattleTech game Brother. My birthday is in December and I'm going to buy some of those HexTech buildings so I can spruce up the Battlefield of the Future!
Nice! What a christmas gift!@@basement1908
hi! Gretings from argentina!!! if you have to choose between the 28 mm scale or the 15 mm scale... which one you will choose to start with? and why? I want to start an army of this period and this game, but i cant decide the scale, wish to have a looooooot of miniatures, close to original army numbers or sort of, but in the other hand i like to paint and the details in the miniatures. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Hello my friend. The two big questions are, do you want to play massed battles, and how big of a gaming table do you have?
If you do want to play massed battles, and your table isn't at least 10 to 12 foot wide, I would go for 15mm.
My table is 15 foot wide and I'm already considering adding another 5 foot of length to give my 28mm figures more room to maneuver.
I hope that was helpful. Have a fantastic rest of your week!
@@basement1908 well... that answer a lot... now i know two things, the scale and the room i have to make... Thanks a lot!
ow, and one more question... i want to do some Argentinian and Latinoamerican armys, you will go for the Perry miniatures or the warlord ones? Thanks in advance!
Wish you kept the camera still. Looks so good otherwise.
I'm still working on my cinematography. I get so pumped up I want to look everywhere at once. That will be a work in progress my friend. Thanks for the feedback. Have an excellent week!
What rules do you use and what make of figures are they
I used Valour and Fortitude for this battle. The free download from the Perry Brothers website. In the past I have used Black Powder and General d'armee. Both are also outstanding rule systems.
99% of these miniatures are from Warlord Games, Perry Miniatures and Victrix Miniatures (I have a few others from Wargames Atlantic and Hat Miniatures).
Have a fantastic rest of your weekend 👍
where can buy the grass carpet?
The company I bought the 3 of mine from I believe has gone out of business. Killing Fields terrain. I hope they make a comeback because I need another one.
@@basement1908 ow :(
Dude, there is ALWAYS other stuff to buy.
Heard that! 🤣
Fantastic layout😮
Thanks so much! I appreciate it! Have a fantastic rest of your week.
