I agree with your "ancient alien" comment. My favorite aesthetic is embodied in the decor of the rich people's homes in Clockwork Orange, Rollerball, Soylent Green, and Logan's Run (I call it "'70s Futuristic").
Not long after watching your video, I bought a pair of broken XE light guns off eBay (probably from the same seller). I just got them today and they are great! Nice weight, nice clicking triggers. The natural color of it inspired me to rework a character for a movie my friends and I were making into a sort of 70's/80's sci-fi gunslinger dressed like someone from Buck Rogers or The Last Starfighter. With some detail work, it'll be perfect. Thanks for pointing these out!!
That is awesome. Kinda looks like something that would come out of a 70s version of Firefly. Also, if you're doing video game guns, I'd love to see your take on the the Nerf Switch Shot. It's a blaster made for the Nerf Wii game where the gun can house the Wiimote

As an Atari collector I came here looking for tips on repairing the XG-1 light gun that I hope to win the auction of (if it doesn't work) Started watching this video.. and all of a sudden it's 23 minutes later and I totally forgot looking for repair videos. The prop is absolutely beautiful and really has that "ancient aliens" style look you were going for. The prop is beautiful!! I look forward to checking out your other videos!

@@createscifi -- Among other things, I'm a long-time pen-n-paper RPG gamer, and I've penned a couple of fanfic novels and novellas under my real name (nothing that can sell; IP issues), but my bread-n-butter is "gazetteering": Give me a nugget of a setting, anything even remotely serious, and I will create a back-story for it, and detail its history and technology in full.
Finally a little bit of colour! Perhaps a few greeblies or additions to this he shell, like a hand guard or a scope or a few greeblies would have taken even a step higher. Great build Anthony! 😁 Also, I thought you had paint on your arms until I realised it was your tattoos haha
To fill the seams between two plastic parts, try running a bead of superglue, then sprinkling baking soda on top. You will have to sand but it fills cracks well, and is very solid.
Looks good, man! And you're having a blast with it (no pun intended, really). I've done similar things with some of the newer (Playstation and Sega) guns, to get a near future or cyberpunk type feel. It's always amazing what a paint job and a few greeblies will do for the look.
i love your sci fi weapons you make !!!! as a kid i was always obsessed with laser weapons from the 1980 flash gordon movie ! have you ever thought on doing replica weapon from that movie ??
If you cut off the barrel at the front where the slanted piece is, and installed a hand guard into the prop this would make for a nice Romulan Disruptor.

It’s funny, this light gun in its original color wouldn’t be out of place in The Last Starfighter. 😁 If you want a third light gun to complete the trilogy there are a few good options. The Sega Master System Light Phaser is like a sleeker black version of this gun. There’s a couple interesting ones for Sega Dreamcast too. If you wanted to go totally nuts, there’s always the Super Nintendo Super Scope for a space bazooka! Also, you might want to look into vintage laser tag guns. The Starlyte Lazer Tag guns have a very Star Trek/Romulan feel to them. The Laser Challenge V2 blasters also have some potential I think. I’ve been eyeing the V2 Ultrawide Blaster.

Just got a non-working Sega Master System Light Phaser for $6 - However iI googled the Starlyte Lazer Tag gun. Those are sweet.
4:26 thank god. Lol I didn't want to be that jerk that busted balls about using a controller that is from a hard system to collect for. Lol Either way they turned out GREAT. I did the same thing to a busted Sega Master System light gun. It has a similar design but just different enough. Great job on the build AND using units are are non working.

An exception is the NES Zapp gun where I bought a cheap knock off.

I almost destroyed a Genesis model 3 making my Necronomiconsole (Genesis in the Book of the Dead) but it worked out ok. Keep up the great work bro!
Instead of Bondo what if you used plastic putty, JB Weld instant plastic, for example. you can fill your holes with it and not have to do as much post work to level it as you just squish it down and wipe any that stands proud.
