I’ve been using Imperfect for almost a year and I have absolutely loved them! A couple of highlights I have found through them:
-competitive pricing (I live in a desert so almost all fruits and veggies are shipped in!)
-they kept ALL of their workers during the peak of the pandemic in my area PLUS hired more delivery drivers
-my package is always packed with care - multiple boxes, produce separate from anything like grains, milk, cheese or meats
-one time I ordered a whole week of groceries through them because we had company visiting and I was very busy and an item had broken open, and ruined a bit of the produce and they 100% refunded my order no questions asked. The next week I got a nice email and they send along a Lb of cashews as an “I’m sorry”
For me waste is so big on large produce farms many don’t see it but if we can save a bit of it that’s awesome! Plus- imperfect foods takes good care of their workers and pays them a really good livable wage! Unlike Walmart who is at minimal bones for pay

28$ is not bad for that ! Sometimes I go just for two avocados and I end paying so much more because I end buying things that I don’t need

I have never heard of this service before! I want to check them out! After working at many orchards and blueberry farms growing up, I saw how much they had to throw away because the stores wouldn't take it. What an awesome way to make use of extras!

That's the big reason I wanted to check them out! They have a lot of info on their website about food waste, too, and how they are addressing that. They even have suggestions for how to recycle and reuse their packaging, and in non-covid times, they had a packing return program.

I've been using Imperfect Foods for about 6 or 7 months. The meat and packaged items are all good quality. The only problem I've ever had was a missing item a couple times but they're always great in correcting the issue in a timely manner.

I LOVE Imperfect foods! I have been using them for about 6 months. I like to get my meat and produce through them. I have a very small grocery store near me that's great for dry/canned/frozen foods but not so much fresh raw foods. And I like to stay away from larger chains because I'm far too tempted to buy shit I don't really need & isn't the healthiest.
Imperfect is great because I can get fresh fruits, veggies, and meat, but I can also use my temptation to try new things with convenient meat and dairy alternatives and snacks I generally wouldn't gravitate towards in a large scale grocery store.
On top of that their customer service team is fantastic. I had a box delivered that included eggs and during delivery the package must have been dropped because all of the eggs were broken and there was egg on EVERYTHING in the box. They refunded and gave me a discount on my next week for the inconvenience.

I am Team Cilantro ! Love it ! I had never heard of this service before until Miranda at Running on Plants showcased it. The produce in your box actually looks better than what my local Walmart carries in their store ! I think it is awesome that this company is trying to prevent so much food waste. I had a lot of very lean years when I was a single mom of 3 children and I often went without so my kids could eat. To this day I absolutely hate throwing out food. Great video !

I love this service...and cilantro too. I've been using it for about 6 months now and only one time had an issue...two eggs in a dozen were cracked. Also I think if you order $60 or more the delivery fee goes away and my favorite thing is you don't have to have an order every week. The want to reduce waste...not make more. Also try the "misshapen" chicken breasts...so cheap and if you are using in a receipe where you cut them up...who cares.

it didn't work for me. I used it for over a year and it way always more expensive than me just buying in store, but it wasn't by a ton and it coming right to my door was really convenient. but, it was almost always late. I couldn't order anything soft because the items were destroyed by the time they got to me. Like, I don't think there was any problem with imperfect foods (besides the fact that I ordered a lot, so they should have used two boxes) the problem was with Fedex. Like, it seemed like they kicked the boxes around. Tracking would show it arriving in the city, but it would be 3-4 days later before i would get it. One box was so kicked around and late that goo was leaking out and I gagged when I opened it. I didn't feel it was fair to me or Imperfect (who kept having to refund me) to keep the service.

    • @basanja5105
      @basanja5105 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I use both. If you price out the meat per pound, it's a good deal if you live in a high cost of living area with no stores like Aldi (me). If you can get good to excellent quality meat for cheaper then it might not work for you. We can't so BB wins. Buying meat once a month has made my life so much easier even if the sticker shock hurts. I buy whole chickens and roasts to make it more cost effective. Their sirloin cap is amazing. Imperfect Foods I get once a week. It's lovely going to the store for little things and saying, "don't need that." My grocery bill has dropped like a rock. IF is cheaper than my grocery store on produce, but not on some things like oat milk. Other pantry staples and snacks are about the same as the store.

@@AW-jl1tj grocers and farmers are people, too, with families and employees to support. Imperfect helps everybody by purchasing food that was going to waste at a discounted cost so suppliers can make ends meet and we can have fresh food delivered to our doorstep. Imperfect ALSO DONATES FOOD to food pantries, AND they offer discounted boxes to people who qualify for SNAP. In addition to giving away nearly 15% of our regular income, my husband and I also donate a percentage of what we make on SMM to local food pantries. Patti, I'm with you. That's one thing I like about Imperfect. I signed up for the basic produce box, so they have some items already in it each week, but I can remove them or change them or add more things.

The similar company that does this in my area (produce only), is way overpriced compared to what I can get in my stores, sadly. Your squash was tiny, peppers are cheaper but great buy on the carrot and apples
    😀. I love cilantro.

Hi, Yvonne! I researched some other companies and Imperfect was the only one I found that delivers in my state. I'm pretty happy with what I got this time, and we've eaten most of it already! LOL!

@@SeeMindyMom I love the idea. The one I've used in the past that was strictly produce is only available in a few states on the East coast. Speaking of East coast... aren't you out west? You had an early start this morning.

Glad to see more companies popping up doing something to avoid the waste. All the produce I received in the past was all worthy/quality and I was glad to see it not go to waste, I just wish it was not more expensive... I had to think of it like a charitable way to support my local farmers and not see it go to waste.

Love cilantro! I'm really impressed by how much produce you got. I am a member of a CSA from a local restaurant but my challenge is not having control of what I'm buying. Last week, we got a singular leek. What am I going to do with that? I have to get creative with cooking and meal planning.

My thought too although I never grocery shop at Walmart. I do shop occasionally at Aldi which has good prices but I don't like their produce. The thing that tempts me is that even with a list I can't seem to go into the store and not buy a lot of food that I wasn't planning on. Not having to shop or travel to the store has appeal too. Thinking about it...
