Easy Jazz Ensemble - Grade 2
Recently recorded by Tony Bennett with Lady Gaga, this popular standard dates from 1937 but sounds as fresh today as ever! Rick's swinging arrangement skillfully passes the melody from section to section, but features plenty of solid tutti writing as well. Solos (for sax and trumpet) may also be played by the entire sections for added flexibility.

    /gm, g a bb c d eb f g
    G Major: G A B C# D E F#
    /em e f# g a b c# d

You probably learned by now, but yeah, jazz jumps around keys more often than some other styles, despite the the song's key never fully changing.
You can have a song in the key of C that's only on C progressions for the first two bars and the last three bars and it could still work pretty easily

@@LowReedExpert1 no it's just a transposing score. Different instruments play in different keys so the key signatures aren't all the same.

@@jasonzurlo1543 Ah, I misunderstood the original comment. I thought they were asking how to play OVER the tune instead of the tune's key itself

@jeremy this is because several instruments are transposed by nature. For instance, on a trumpet when played a c, you will hear a B flat. So the score for the trumpets is transcripties a full note higher. An alto saxophone sounds plus 1.5 tone (so e flat when played a c note), so their score is transported minus 1.5 tone.
