Although smashing multiple World Records throughout his career this man is still undervalued by many. In this video, we are going to take a closer look at the incredible career of the Kenyan running greatness Daniel Komen.

Nice video! Btw 2:17 earlier this year Getnet Wale ran 7:24.98 over 3000m indoors, almost breaking Komen's indoor wr.

WALE ran so close, but it did take a barega to take it with three to go and other guy to think second to last lap was last lap. So he had pacers whole way. I think his outdoor 3k is gonna be harder to get. People are crushing WRs right now.
@@cakej1 actually Wale and lamecha Girma were inofficial pacers for Barega who sadly had not the streanght he wanted in the last lap

Coming to think of cheptegei's world record in 5k, he ran the race of his life but was just able shaved off 4secs of komen's 5k. Goes to show how insane this fete was back then
Sick stuff. His 3000 outdoor record is insane. Too bad he didn't run to 2 miles that day. His 2 mile WR would be close to 7:50

Daniel Komen is truly Great first man under 12:40 for 5k 1500m 3:29 but his 3000M world Record absolutely is Rediculous 7:20
I am totally ashamed as a Kenyan who allegedly follows the sport of running..I just learned recently what monumental achievements Komen had registered
I'm sure it has something to do with his short running career and the fact that he was never an Olympian as well...also with Kenya having so many elite runners someone is bound to get lost in the mix

How many people have run sub 3:30, sub 7:25, and sub 13:40. Probably just komen. Maybe bekele, but I don't think so.
If you mean sub 12:40 then it is just Komen. Not even Bekele could run sub 7:25 and has a 1500 m PB of 3:32:35 min.

Everyone is thinking that Joshua Cheptegei can beat his 3k record i dont think so. Sure Cheptegei is strong and world class but his speed needs work.
Komens record will still stand after Cheptegeis attempt on the 19th.
You were right, Cheptegei's 7:33 tonight weren't even close but this just shows how fast Komen's record really is.
@@athleticsdude5513 Going after records below the 5k is out of his reach right now. That record of Komen will stand for decades to come. Cheptegei needs to cool his ego and stick with 5k up too 26.2.
Dont even get me started on Yiannis Kouros records in the Ultra running world.
Why did't he win any Olympic Medal and just one world championship title.
He was fourth in the kenyan trials before Atlanta Olympics -96 and only the three first were send to Atlanta. Big misstake because later that season he ran 12.45 for 5000m and 7.20 for 3000m.
@@magnuslundberg9675 he didn't make the Olympics on purpose. He wanted to race as much as he can to make money
