- Comedian Sinbad was the host of an annual HBO concert series "Sinbad's Summer Jam" which featured popular R&B music acts performing some of their greatest hits. The fourth installment of this series, filmed on the Caribbean island of Aruba, featured the Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Cheryl Lynn, K-Ci & The Sunshine Band, Zapp ft Roger, Earth Wind & Fire, Isaac Hayes, The Emotions, and Stephanie Mills.
Rap today can't even come close to this...
I agree 👍
Definitely not
*IT WAS ALL ABOUT PARTAAYING AND FEEL GOOD VIBES BUT MOST OF ALL WHAT A FREEKING LINE UP OLD SKOOL GODS AND GODDESSES LUV IT!!*
This is what all hip-hop concerts use to be like. I've been lucky to see all the biggest concerts. These so-called MC's today could never move a crowd like this. This should show just how weak these MC's are today. That some middle-aged dudes who came out in the early 80's can still rock the crowd better than any of them today.
Really Cali, nothing compares to this wonderful time like the 80s and their incredible Mcs! I miss this time so much because today nothing is taken advantage of!
José Ferreira What do you mean when you say that nothing is being is taken advantage of today?
💯👍👍👍👍🌴🌴🤸🕺🎶🎵😁😁🙏🙏
This was wild
True fact….I was in 6th grade I had this album a record…..rappers delight, I played it sooo much the album WRAPED…..
This is very good this is real music this was one of the best songs song this is a hip hop anthem I am a fan who are the lovers of these songs
They live with me forever !! 1000 years from now they will know that 2000 years is not enough for this fantastic music !! Thanks for still having lots of DJs in Hungary after 30 years !! Love Forever!!
The 80's was 🎤 skills, fun & LOVE!!
Rip to big bank Hank of sugar hill gang
Angie James It's 2018, I didn't know he passed .
i love it.,👍🔊🔊🔊🔊
Both are the best for ever !!!
Sugar Hill Gang was jamming. Thanks for sharing.
Sugarhill gang, Nucleus, Grandmaster Flash, had this white dude dancin from early to late. The music and lyrics were a natural high. They were made for fun and the lyrics always had a theme to them. Early hip-hop was the best.
That's rapping duke fault with his da ha ha ha....
The Message....one of the greatest rap songs ever
The Message: greatest rap song ever produced, ever recorded, and ever-lasting meaning. There will never be anything better than THE MESSAGE.
i just saw sugar hill gang at the freestyle concert in tampa last friday.. wow they are still blowing it up.. dope
Rest In Peace Big Bank Hank
Melle Mel is straight up PIMPIN' with that suit!!! Gotta love it! The true lyricist!!!
Too bad he didn't even do any rapping 🥴

I PLAY THIS JAM ALMOST EVA DAY WHEN I'M CRUISIN
I remember the Sugar Hill Gang. I had everything I could get my hands on by them. 12" to 45's and they are not the Sugar Hill Gang. I am more disappointed in Sinbad. He knows better. RIP Big Bank Hank.
Thank you. I didn't see this before I commented. i just watched "We Want Our Name Back." This is Bullshit.
Takes me back to my days Goldsmiths College South East London 1980s great times xx
Whatt A Showw ... Love from Munich 🌻
Amazing how they came out like a blast from the past and put on the best show these people ever saw.

When black rappers were straight... good old days..
WHEN RAPPING WAS SO FUN!
I’m over 60 and know every word 😂😂🔥❤️
I loved when Sinbad used to do these shows.
Real talk, true MCing is an art form and you just witnessed it!
Ohhh yesss
Whenever I listen to the flow at 10:26 , I'm going slightly mad...
Gosh, white people really missed out. At least judging by the crowd
+Harry D. Not me!!! My highschool soundtrack! :)
Theres one white girl on stage with the red dress and blonde hair. This is certainly legendary
This is legit the only live video of this song where the crowd understands what's happening.
They Know The Assignment...
And not 1 Cellphone Out 😫😫😆😆🔥🔥
Hell yeah! These guys are the Father's of Rap.
R.I.P Big Bank Hank R.I.P Man hip hop will never forget you thank you for all the hard work you did. god bless you and man shock all the young souls in heawen

old skool rules. its all i listen to in my australian muscle cars. maybe one day i'll meet Melle Mel. greetings from Greece/Australia.
Rip cowboy.
This gave me chills.. Even though I was born in 94'. Classic positive hip hop even had the bands. True live performance. Dope!
Damn, I love the Sugar Hill Gang.❤️
Guess what... that's Joey Robinson Jr. not Guy (Master Gee)
There's no Sugarhill Gang without Guy O'Brian.. the real "Master Gee!"
RESPECT & SALUTE!!!
This is f*n amazing...🔥🔥✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
The mood in the room is so nostalgic to everyone up in there
I am left in so much awe!! ❤️
They done brought my favorite The Message! This told a story. Unlike the putrid lyrics of toay. Wasn't nobody bitching somebody up & hoing them down.
Oh yes, My people sounding as good as ever. This is what it should be like....make them hits but stay in school and schedule shows not to conflict with your college schedule. That way you all graduate and begin your careers so as not to be a slave to a record company.
simplemente los mejores, los verdaderos ,los origuinales si ellos no hubiera sido posible 2 pac ,ice cube ,dr dre , etc lo de ahora es basura ,del 2000 para aca todo es basura
Awesome stuff.
Gostei destas bandas !!! O hip hop Americano é muito rico culturalmente !!
thats what I call moving the crowd!
Wow i went back in time with Sugar Hill what beautiful memories fun days of dancing
there's so MUCH good music on TH-cam :)
SHOW POR EXCELÊNCIA, A RAIZ DO HIP HOP ESTA AÍ E VAI CONTINUAR POR MUITOS MUITOS ANOS O QUE É BOM SEMPRE FICA E PREVALECE.
Big bank hank was fucking king of rap before kanye west jay z and others could even speak
+OzzyByo hank couldnt even write his own fuckn rhymes.. stole his shit from Grandmaster Caz.. you need educating
@@TEDDYZ275 💀💀
Joey Robinson is going to drive me crazy. Master...J? WTF?
Screw him. He was a fraud.
So emotional concert people live those moments they look like enjoying their time its so good to see it.
I love this, real Hip Hop!
ラップの元祖的ですね!12インチsingle持ってます。
Crecí con estas canciones y todavía me gustan bonitos recuerdos en Tijuana
Sinbad and some olschool rap can't pass that one up !!!!!
Lol I already know before the reading the comments people are gonna compare this to now. lmfao. Just enjoy all music. Do not discriminate. LOVE.
I love this song and I love rap but the reason why I don't go to shows is cuz everyone on stage always has to rap over the rapper doing lead flow on the verses even with classic groups like this. So I might as well just listen to the studio version of the damn songs.
Same thing happens at the end of memorial rock concerts... everyone and their sister-in-law is on stage with their guitar... can't STAND that!
@cocakoehler78 You are absolutely correct. I corrected the title of the enhanced version of this video a couple of weeks ago, but neglected to make the change here. Thanks 4 the heads up! I agree, these were great times...expressive music without excessive profanity.
Rest In Peace Big Bank
Two rap legendary groups
now this is what i call rap - classic. love from India
Yo, it was great seeing the audience enjoying themselves & when Grandmaster Melle Mel came out, Big-Bank Hank & Wonder Mike were very professional, but Master Gee was all over Mel’s shine & that shit was fkd up & unprofessional!!!
I think he did that shit, because #1-I saw mad TH-cam interviews were Mel said when the “Sugarhill Gang” dropped “Rappers Delight”, which was the first (RAP & not Hip-Hop) record a lot of the original NYC-MC’s HATED it & thought it was TRASH, because it sounded like some kiddie, bubble gum SHIIIIIIT!!!
And #2-around the time that this performance happened Mel was in a legal dispute with “Sylvia Robinson” (who’s Master Gee’s Mother) over their fkd up contract & not being properly compensated for all his work with “Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five” & when the group split!!!
When Flash signed with Sugarhill Records they gave the label OFFICIAL STREET CREDIBILITY, because Flash & The Furious 5ive attracted other dope NYC MC’s to sign. Melle Mel was ahead of his time!!! Just check out this track..... World War 3!!! BOOM!!!!💥 🤯

This is a real show and this is real Living Legends.
Rapper's Delight... the only rap song I can stand... That beat stays with me ALL day! And I love the Kaopectate line! Fun to watch them perform it years later.
Why is "Rapper's Delight" the *only* rap song that you can stand? There were other good songs from the old school era.
this is crazy ...man
Muy bonita música eso es lo que tenemos que hacer todos Unidos el mismo color God bless you all and Happy New Year we can do this together
Joey Robinson saying Master Gee's lyrics here. I guess his parents company owns it so hey.
I wonder what happened to good, clean entertainment. No gang hatred here it's not becoming or allowed❤👵
OWWWW I have tears in my eyes now..... Wonderfull ERA .... Gold ERA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like he said rap was about having a party and having a good time that's all it was designed to be things change huh
The prisoners of rap. They did not need to shoot each other to prove a point. It was all settled on the mic.....much to our amusement and pleasure.
I like how grandmaster incorporated Diddy’s hook from his song
Diddy inc his hook from grandmaster.
I love learning more and more. just the other day i stumbled into a vinyl record store and found some of sugarhill's records.
Just so you all know, the backing track is from "7th Wonder - Daisy Lady"
if you gotta some more knowledge to add bring it on!
We used to break dance to these songs back in the 80’s.
1:50 8th Wonder - Sugarhill gang

those were the blessed times when no one held their cellphone up to snapchat, instagram, tweet, post, record or some other shit
2021...Rap now wears Dresses and Purses
RIP Hank...RIP Joey Robinson too but smh at him got the nerve man...Peace Wonder Mike and Master Gee.
CooooooOoooooooool thank you for this video
What happened to the original Members? Thanks for Posting!
Big bank sadly passed away in 2014 after a short battle with cancer, Wonder Mike and Master gee continue to tour occasionally
That's not the original sugar hill 👎🏾
That is NOT master gee, that is joey robinson the fraud. Check out the docu 'I want my name back' featuring wonder mike, master gee, grandmaster caz etc.
I just watched that documentary and am outraged.
I feckin love this amazing performance. Cheers.
All said and done the Sugar Hill Gang opened the door for Rap hip hop laid the foundations for camee next to all genre's of music and will never go away ilike punk heavy metal it's part of all cultures and it has evolved in all cultures especially with the Graffity Artists from the late 70s until the present day
Jazz, Rythm and blues, Soul funk, Rap hip hop, Old skool new Jack swing, Go, Go, Hip house, Chicae, Detroit US garage, gospel etc
as a white person who is inspired by black music culture and I treat everyone the same respect we all human just like one of my favourite greatest artists Parliament featuring the Legendary George Clinton
We are One Nation Under a groove
that song iconic song was recorded in 1980
Sadly for I have found Alot of white people no fault of their own
Have never been educated to treat ethnic minorities as equals
Sadly for them they never grew up like me in a multi culture society
Real RAP GODSSSSSSS
Omg, that old lady in the beginning covering her ears. She so adorable!!
The best rap ever 😎
Sugarhill first rappers I ever heard, when I was 16 at Nate Hatten’s house…RIP Emma n Nate Sr.
Never saw Big Bank Hank perform live since they were fresh out in the 80's. RIP Big Bro
