He's been such a consistent and courageous player for England - it's really sad to see him retire. An immense tackler and super high work rate, doing a massive amount of unseen work. I hope the Chessum and Martin et al fill his very big shoes in their own way.

There's a joke among French rugby fans that Jules Plisson's greatest test-level rugby moment is that time he got decapitated by Courtney Lawes at 7:18

This actually brought a tear to my eye. He has always been my favourite player. I would tune in with eager eyes whenever he is announced in the line-up for saints. Such a star player. I would watch him then try recreate his moments when I would play growing up.
I particularly enjoyed when him and Samu Manoa would compete for the most big hits per game, earning them the nicknames ‘The Bosh Brothers’.
I’ll probably watch this video every year to celebrate his triumphs. Cheers Courtney

    Thanks for making this, mate!
It was Courtney who revolutionised "target the ten." I could only dream of tackling as well as him!
By the way, are you considering a tribute for Ben Youngs? I would love to see it!

2023 was his best tournament. He was exceptional every game.
I truly believe this current iteration is the best form of Courtney lawes. His game awareness is way better than it used to be. He's not lost any of that athleticism and strength he's always had. Now he's making turnovers, winning penalties and going toe to toe with the best back rows in the world.
England's loss is Northampton's gain. Hopefully, he can be tempted by a lions tour to aus 🤞🤞🤞

Excellent player, I'm welsh so happy we won't have him to deal with any more but sad to see a good player hang up his boots. I also really appreciate that you're showcasing great players doing what they do best. There was a time when highlights reels for world-class forwards would consist of a few attacking contributions and them running in tries untouched from a few metres out, but you clearly dig deep into game footage to show off the extent of their abilities. It's probably difficult to get enough game footage but I would have loved to see a reel like this made for the likes of McCaw and Pocock back in the day. Thanks for what you do!

Absolute legend of English Rugby imo. Remember when he first started off and how he was quickly getting a name for putting in monster hits, people slated him for only hitting backs until he started smashing the likes of Bastereaud. He's been a great servant to English Rugby, always put in 100% and went about his business quietly but ferociously.

Mental that he's been playing for England since 2009, yet every single one of those breakdown penalties was in the last 2 years.
Has there ever been a player who's evolved his game so much, so many times over his career?

My favourite current-generation England player. When he earned his first few caps, he made a name for himself racing out of the line and putting in huge hits, and since then he's also become a proper menace at the breakdown and fantastic in the lineout. Nothing but respect for him.

🇿🇦 Average lock, world class flank.
Can never understand why other countries play 2m hyper-mobile ball hawks and tackling machines at lock.
Gives you three legit lineout options, three locks in the scrum and maul, and extra oomph in the tight loose and ruck clean out.
If Beirne or Scott Barrett were Safrican they’d be 10kg lighter and not see a day outside of a seven jersey.
(Although we wasted PSdT at lock for a year or two, so…)

More than capable of playing 4,5,6 or 7 at the highest level, but in my opinion, Lawes is the best blindside (6) England have produced in a generation.
He's a Rolls Royce of a player that would get into any team in the world, and even though the world cup hasn't ended the way they had hoped, he should be lauded for how brilliant he's been in an England shirt.
