    I cut cable tv , land line phone
    Tried Mohu antenna with poor result( not sure why) for local tv
    Next, kept high speed internet with Comcast ( only choice so far) returned all Comcast equipment and bought a Netgear router and Assis modem. Bought a Roku plug in for older Samsung tv. Subscribed to TH-cam TV. My Xfinity internet is now $80/ month with my own equipment. Will recoup cost in 10 months.use. About $110/ month savings.

    Hi guys - enjoy your channel. I routinely test these services out and keep notes. Here's some feedback I can share: My Dad lives about 20 min away, and I've set him up on our family plan. He's able to have his own profile and we haven't had any issues the last 2-3 years with him using it. #2 - As a subscriber to the NBA league pass on TH-camTV (but not the 4k package) occasionally I was able to view 4k NBA games. I'm on the base plan.

    I have a question that you may not be able to answer, but maybe you could point me to a YT channel or antenna product you recommend. We live 40 miles from a city with all the OTA channels. I bought and installed an outdoor antenna with 60 mile range that picks up all stations well except that the CBS antenna often has a weak or dropping signal. I have the antenna pointed - with an app - directly to that CBS location. I'd be happy to spend money for a quality antenna because we feel the Hulu, Disney ESPN+ bundle (without live TV) plus Prime would be all we'd need, if we had slightly better OTA. I appreciate your help!

    A friend has TH-cam TV live, your right on that service being good on sports, it's great in my opinion.

    For someone like me with homes in two different states, TH-camTV is definitely the better option. I never have problems signing in, and it seamlessly switches local channels without any input from me. Also, the user interface is closer to cable (and thus simpler) and I can easily organize channels to fit my viewing choices. The sports options are perfect as well. With a FrndlyTV add-on (for A&E Networks/MeTV) I have everything I had with cable, for far less.

    • @FrugalRules
      @FrugalRules 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible, with a bit of a catch with each. Hulu Live lets you change your home network up to four times every 12 months. TH-cam TV is a little trickier. You need to check into your home location once every 90 days and they allow you to change your home area twice every 12 months.

    I went with hulu because of more content. I think it's worth pointing out that although these are live tv services, they are anything BUT the ease of cable tv. The best user experience will always be actual cable tv but it's not the user BANK account experience we can tolerate, is why we ditched it for sure. I have been using a strategy over the last month or so- buying prime streaming video and building up my UHD streaming movie collection. It's amazing how many bargain bin deals you can grab on UHD movies from prime to stream. Once my collection of all my favorites are bought, I no longer am swayed to keep movie streaming apps because of the movies I love to see. Netflix and Max will eventually be dropped because I can just buy the UHD movie from prime and stream away. But hulu will always be needed here for the obvious reasons. In fact I think the most commonly juggled thing is how can I save money beyond the needed live tv services. If you're a prime member- buy your movies outright and let go of monthly subs just to see them come and go.

    • @spaceghost4474
      @spaceghost4474 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I totally agree with you about the cable experience.
      I still think it's the best, but like you, I could no longer tolerate the sky high prices with all the hidden fees, and the bad service that I received.
      Cable services brought all the trouble on themselves.

      When you say buy UHD stuff from prime, if you were to cancel your prime account, would you still have the content? Or what happens if prime should decide to take the content away from you? Louis Rossmann did a video about, iirc, Sony, deleting stuff folks had 'bought.'

    • @dfizzbom
      @dfizzbom 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@bikeny no plans to cancel prime. I believe you can download your purchased content for offline viewing too. I have heard that movies can be removed but it hasn't happened to me yet. I don't over think it. I buy movies at 5 -7 bucks and my titles are akways there to watch, unlike Netflix and such that certainly do drop content after a certain time period. Instead of hoping a movie is currently running on a streaming service, I have it. You could do the same buying dvd but I'm well past physical media now. Not into that any longer.

    For me, channel lineup is really a non-factor between these two services since Hulu added the two weather channels, so I now base my choice on the UI and price of both.
    IMO the TH-cam tv UI is hands down the best of the two.
    The ability to arrange channels in the order I want, and to be able to remove channels from your live guide has pretty much spoiled me.
    That, and the lower price (at this time) keeps me with TH-cam tv.
    I would definately use Hulu if I wanted the Hulu trio of extras, but if I only want Disney Plus (no adds), which I only use a couple of times per year, I can add the stand alone service for almost the same total cost.
    I think Hulu with live tv has become a better deal for the total package, but I still prefer the convenience of TH-cam tv.

      Agreed, Hulu Live does offer a solid value with having the Disney bundle thrown in. But, like you said, the UI and general flexibility of YT TV make it the better option for most. If we needed a premium live service, it'd be YT TV.
