"A computer is just a dumb machine. It needs the intelligence of a human to function." 😂

"Computers are very friendly" unless you forgot your username and password. Then they won't even talk to you.

I recognize a few screen shots here, they're from a Tandy Color Computer (aka the "Coco"), one of the screen shots starting at 11:27 is of the "Audio Spectrum Analyzer" cartridge that was for the Coco 2 and up--I had that cartridge when I had my Coco 2 back in the early 90s. It actually worked as an audio spectrum analyzer--the audio input was from the data cassette input cable of the Coco!

Same setup featured in "Revenge of the Nerds," their musical-competition scenes.

Early 90's ?! That was ancient already. Don't you mean the early 80's?

Electronics from last century *are still functioning* onboard Voyagers 1 & 2, sending data back to 3 Terrestrial Stations set 180° apart.
Canberra, Australia is the only Earth station powerful enough to transmit instructions to the Voyagers situated _at the very edge of the Solar System,_ taking 19 hours to reach them. About 5 sensors on each craft are sending useful data back to Earth as of February 2019.
They are expected to function until 2025; then continue silently on their 1 million miles-per-day journey indefinitely. *_Hooray for Olde Worlde Computers._*

5:21 My old TRS-80 Model III! I eventually learned Z-80 Assembly with it. It's was my "daily driver" until replaced with an IBM PS/2 Model 30 with a ("blistering" 286!) six years later.

In 2024, I am using a Dell microcomputer loaded with Microsoft Windows 11 Professional, running Microsoft Office 2021 Professional. Also, I have a Canon color laser printer. Using Microsoft Office 2021 Professional makes making documents and files and controlling them easier than A-B-C, 1-2-3 like never before. The beauty of it is that I can print professional looking color documents like an advanced typist, right in the privacy of my home.

The computer voice is credited to Adlez Drofnrub which is Zelda Burnford backwards! I wonder what the story is there!

I can remember a time when people had a hard time with "hardware" and "software" as a concept. Me, A then Radio Shack worker would tell "newbies" that the "hardware" was the stereo system and "software" was the music. I did NOT say software was like "records" (a LOT of my co workers did just that..) Of course music on a stereo system could be from radio, records or tapes. Radio, records and tapes were formats to get the music "software" into the "system".

today's CPUs run at a higher frequency, you can't hear the voice say ,"instruction , go to ALU, move answer to memory .." -- unfortunately, while the frequency is out of range of human hearing, dogs can hear it just fine .. it drives them crazy.

This is how kids are going to school now. Studying from home with their laptops that are hundreds of times more powerful than these seventies computers. How lucky they can avoid sadistic teachers, bullies and bad cafeteria food.

It didn't take long to discover how awful computer music is: about five seconds.
