This is FANTASTIC! Finally, a reviewer that measured muzzle rise and recovery in a way that is meaningful and objective. Something I care most about in how a gun shoots. Please use this tool on all reviews. Very grateful for this!
Thank you very much for the breakdown. There are so many videos out there on feeling alone in comparing recoil on these models. So glad I ordered the TTI Combat! Keep up the good work and videos!
I found the same results when I tested them together. Until I changed the recoil spring in the TTI. With the low powered spring, the TTI shoots way softer . And I was using standard power rounds. Great video, Sir. Stay safe and God Bless.
@CRB0312 I've put 150 rounds of blazer 124 grain with not one issue. I use the low recoil spring that comes in the box. It's marked low on at the end of the spring. Make sure u clean the inside if the slide of the shipping oils and reapply grease to the slide pads on the frame. After mine has broken in cleaned and lubed again it slides like glass. It's not a Stacatto slide but it's not a 6000$ gun eather. For 1000$ you getting one hell of a pistol.
I had the opportunity to try out multiple models of Canik pistols against my Rival-S, and the steel just feels so much better. The weight makes it feel less snappy compared to the lighter polymer framed ones.
Good video thanks. More interested in the Rival S myself especially with Lok grips, but good insight and actual data on group sizes, muzzle movement, and return to target.
Good video. Just wanted to mention that, since I'm considering doing USPSA and IDPA, that at least in USPSA the use of a compensator and flaired mag well can push you into "open" competition. So the Rival S might be preferred for more shooting categories within competition.
What is everyone's opinion on which one to buy tti or the rival s. For steel challenge competition. I really liked the video, well all of the reviews that I've seen. Thanks for taking your time on doing a great job
Will the TTI slide fit and function on the steel frame? If yes, would be interesting to run the recoil test again to see how much more reduction there is (if any).
Truly excellent comparison. If only my TTI combat was reliable. Many misfires, failure to return to battery, bullet getting dented when loaded into barrel at times causing hot lead coming out of slots and landing on hands and arms.
Hey Justin , that was a great, very useful video, I’m trying to make my mind up , today is my birthday that’s why I’m watching this video !!!! I guess I’ll go grab my steel frame Taurus , that became the Beretta M9 n the I grab my Canik Rival n Mete n see what I think , I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this before !!!! Thanks so much 💥💥🔫 from Commy Ct.🇺🇸
Nice video and interesting test. I think the test should be done three more times for a total of 4 trials. It may have been a disadvantage to the “S” because it was first in your test. I would alternative which firearm goes first, and then compare the muzzle rise. It would not surprise me if you got a different 1st and 2nd place in the additional trials. Thanks for your efforts.
Put a ported barrel on the steel frame gun though? To be fair, the TTI is the newer style Mete design, so a more fair comparison would be with a Mete SFX Pro with a threaded compensator, so it's built in versus add on. Also, the SFX is a much more affordable option.
💪 STEEL 💪 Baby. O yea! I love full metal pistols. Even tho I do enjoy my MR920L shadow systems pistol. Great!!!!! Pistol. By both my HEAVY 3lb RIA tac ultra fshc 45acp and 10mm pistols. O YEA! Not including my M&P 2.0 metal pistol. Dam, fine pistol. I'm just a 🤤 DROOLING 🤤 over the fact that Smith&Wesson comes out with a 4.6-inch version of their 10mm M&P in metal. I'm 💯 buying one
I own both and I love my rival s chrome a little bit more then the TTI… too me it shoots flatter and has a slightly better feel in the grip… I still absolutely love the combat but just prefer the S a little bit more.
Since your shooting off hand you need to shoot three groups per pistol with resting time between each group. That will give you a more accurate picture of accuracy. I have both of these pistols and theTTI is much more accurate. My three friends have them as well and TTI is more accurate as well. Not trying to be a TTI advocate but a clear Accuracy advocate. Thanks for your videos.
Thank you so much for this video, I own the Canik Dark Side Rival, n the Mete , n going to order the TTI tomorrow , n the Canik S in Silver in September, cause my Gun Shop ( CCA IN PORTLAND, Commy Ct. ) gives you 15% off on guns n accessories purchased in your Birthday month !!! Hi. I have not seen the TTI in silver. I’d love to know if you were able to order it and if you have received it yet. I’ll definitely get one in that color. Ty
@@christopherd7922 Hi, sorry to excite you , I was speaking about the steel grip frame in silver ! I think the TTI only comes in that gold n black !!! Sorry Seriously !!!! 💥🔫 from Commy Ct.🇺🇸
@@patwalsh2868 Ok you did get me excited 😂. No problem Ty for responding so fast. I love the look of the Rival SFx -S, but in my commy state MA it’s not on the approved list. The TTI is so I’ll probably end up with that one.
My God how cold is it up there in Bidenland? It's near 98* in FL. already. All my in laws say it's just as hot up there in N.E. as it gets in FL. I knew they were lying!

Just hope you don't get a defective one. Not a fun process to get it fixed or in our case, replaced and then fixed again. A lot of fun to shoot but don't expect a ton of accuracy. Thing just fails in comparison to my CZ S2C, I made the mistake of getting one without a red dot. You want a red dot on this pistol because while the front fiber optic lights up nice, and they are set up to co-witness well, the accuracy is trash for whatever reason... while shooting center on repeat with like five other pistols on the same day. That said, despite all the issues, we decided to keep it. An occasional light strike is the only issue I have now outside not caring for the sights which obviously I will modify. Trying to decide between this gun and a better one? Get the better one. Trying to decide between this and a Glock? get this. Trying to decide between this, a custom glock, or a shadow systems level clone? Go with Shadow Systems and immediately swap the trigger Really big John Wick and TTI Fan? Buy this one but hault your expectations. Keep in mind that competition guns are FINE-TUNED. They simply couldn't do that on a mass scale without issues. Plan to tinker. One thing I will say - the pit viper and other more expensive TTI guns don't really have anything on this... and have the same polymer frame in 2011's! Most people don't know those smooth-sliding super expensive pistols are polymer lowers. You think your slide is worth 8k? Not me!
I really enjoy your videos but I don't really care for how you presented the information in this video at first with your very small sample test. Thank you for the good information you do provide though.
That TTI compensator does nothing , the gun is so light and very snappy ! Save ur money and get the rival Darkside , the ports on the TTI are so small all it does is make it louder
Neither gun will have a problem with 124 gr, however both will have a problem with 115gr. I didn’t know this when I bought both, kept stovepiping, I contacted Canik and their guns are tuned for 124gr and up.
Man where do you guys get ammo from 😂 my TTI sends anything I put in it down range, no failures yet, my hellcat pro, no failures, my DDM4V7 no failures, my benelli M4 no failures. I’ve seen people comment on all of them saying they’ve had FF. Maybe I’m lucky. I’ve only had one round fail to feed and that was with my S&W SWV9E and I’m pretty sure it’s because I hadn’t cleaned it in 10 years 😂 I’ve had that gun for 15 years now. I shoot a lot

Appreciate you using the Mantis X to record muzzle rise and recovery time rather than just giving an opinion
Great work Justin
Always a very fair comparison
Thanks
Good video thanks. More interested in the Rival S myself especially with Lok grips, but good insight and actual data on group sizes, muzzle movement, and return to target.
Just picked up a rival S chrome. Zero regrets. It feels way more substantial In the hand.
I can't wait to receive my Lok grips for my Rival -S!

I agree, rival s would win hands down if you add a comp to that.
Will the TTI slide fit the steel frame? Might be fun to try it if it functions to see magical recoil contol!
Great review. it would be cool to see a short of the MantisX recoil test with the TTI vs original Rival for a polymer to polymer comparison
I agree, this would be highly appreciated data
I don't have a Mantis, but shooting the Rival sfx and the TTI side by side I prefer the SFX. I feelbi recover quicker with it.
Great review. I have been waiting for this comparison. I have the Rival Darkside and won't swap it for either of these.😊

Thanks Justin the only kicker for me is the Rival has adjustable sights and the TTI has drift rear sight why????
Learn to shoot and you won’t need to adjust your sights.
I’d love to see this same kind of comparison between the TTI and the Shadow Systems MR or XR 920P
One of the best pistols I own and it didn't cost me a fortune.
And he plays the song of our people, too!
Do you own the polymer rival? I’d like to see a mantis comparison between the tti and the poly rival
I do, and had that same thought. Based on the weak views of this video though, it might just be you watching if I did it.

Great video. Very detailed. Thank you.

Please do Canik steel vs Pdp steel 4,5 and match.
I don’t it is only the comp who helps the Tti - it also have less weight moving on the slide.
Rival Dark Side
I like that Rival
Rival s dark side steel frame cyelee bull x pro red dot
Great review
So...how about if Canik made the TTI in a steel frame, and the Rival S with a compensator. Could that be the best of both worlds?

That Russian ammo is igman ammo and I got a bunch of it back around "😷" and it was ok stuff and done pretty well for me and mine.
Justin, another kick ass video!👍

It might have been interesting if you hade measured velocity of the different barrel lengths. It may have been negligible, though.
Now one would have to consider the Walther pdp pro x
