Oncor used one of these to 'truck' a transformer into an alley then lift it into place onto a pole ... I didn't know they had equipment like this to do such surgical work w/o getting a full size truck with a boom in between houses and into the back alley! Great tool when needed!
My Company rented one of these to carry switch gear down into a basement. I don't know how much it costed but was definitely worth every penny! The only lifting involved was laying it onto the machine, and lifting it into place at the other end.
Technology and all the safety, no more manual handling. I could see that being useful inside buildings too where a truck mount machines isn’t possible. Changing motors and pumps etc in plant rooms. I bet it would even climb stairs😂.
interesting idea but I don't know if stairs would be rated for 3,000 pounds, even in a commercial situation. The only place I worked in with top floor plant room had a chain-fall rigged in the stairwell. I believe the limiting factor was getting heavy stuff into the elevator at that level. IOW, 5 floor elevator but stairs to the plant room. Go figure, we had to remove a gen set up there and needed to cut it into small pieces for the job. It was originally placed there by crane (40 years ago) before the roof went on.

I can see where that winch could be used in conjunction with a pulley on top of a pole, then hauling a transformer up. Just need a guy in climbing hooks to hang the pulley and guide it into place. Easy-peasy... almost!
As you know Aaron, Francois was at our service center a while back. We got the same demonstration you guys got. They are great machines. Pretty neat demonstration. Unfortunately I don’t believe the utility I work for pulled the trigger on any of their neat toys? They are certainly robust enough. Maybe it was the price? They pulled the trigger on the trailer with the “rapid pole”. I’m not sure if you have seen that yet? I believe my employer is developing that design? You can use an online search engine to find it? Great content again. I look forward to your next video.
I think this could help out a lot in spaces where there is less room to work. Only thing is, someone will have to definitely make sure there is a way to charge it on site.
It plugs into a standard 120V / 20A outlet so if there's a receptacle on site you're all set, and most of the time it's not moving so 2 hours of move time with 6-8 hours of change time seems like it would cover most needs.

That sure beats a couple of guys hiking up the side of the hill with a transformer tied to a cross arm 😂
This little thing would roll over.
Ben beau de voir une bonne compagnie Québécois ici!
That's sure a lot easier than hefting a 25 kVA pole pig on your back, eh? Nice bit of kit! I hope they sell a lot of them.
That's a well thought out piece of kit.
Mini equipment is booming in every category. Mini excavators. Mini skidsteers. Mini cranes. Machines like this. It is amazing what can be built.
Better buy now... because it's going to get real rough.
Because the full size ones have become unaffordable
Fun thing that I noticed is that the trucks in the pictures with the red swirl on the door is for Excel Energy.
I saw this at the utility expo too, it was interesting. The eyebolt to load it definitely makes it more practical since you don’t need a trailer.

Very cool! Now they need to add a coffee maker to it for those late night calls.
Neat machines, they would certainly make jobs easier in hard to access locations.
Hope your company gets you guys a couple for Christmas ‼️👍👊
Big boy's like big toy's....... Looks a handy bit of kit just for the winch.

They actually have a unit designed specifically for climbing stairs! It's pretty cool

I could see this being useful in lots of areas.
Those are cool!
I'm a general contractor. There are times I'd love to have used both of these.
Great video!
Nice mobile rigs for small applications Aaron.
Love your videos do you have anything on terminating underground cable to overhead on a t bracket or switch arm ? Thanks

Came over from Quebec...
That machine reminds me of a channel called "Made in Poland" where he builds stuff like that.
That's a really great channel. I would recommend it to anybody who appreciates building things.
We been doing all our back yards with a Mini Excavator has work for us for the last 15 years

Is that electric? How much does it cost? How much power does it consume while charging?
single 120 volt plug so under 20 amps draw and 6-8 hours charge time. (in the video) They didn't mention cost.
❤
Est-ce que cet appareil est disponible pour louer?
i need one of these for work esp the crane one
Thanks!
That would be outstanding for and overkill to move some steel rifle targets downrange.
Imagine being a productive member of society... instead of making Every. Single. Subject... your pew pews...

Not how it works junior...
Yesterday I wrote a comment so you could see how Eltel is building lines in Scandinavia and someone deleted it.
If it had a link in it, it may have been automatically blocked
I want one...
its better this machine than a sqare shovel to pull the pot
now if only it had a more useful remote
He’s not accurate on lifting from the main eye loaded. But hey.. cool machine.
