Bob, thank you for the visit to Mystic and the wooden boat show. I have been to Mystic before but not during the show, will add to my bucket list. With all that cedar I bet your shop does smell great. Looking forward to your next video.

Seeing you say about Steve "this is a master" and Steve say about you "this is a master" is everything I love about both your channels. Sharing the knowledge, loving the work.

Bob, I live in Germany and have only recently discovered your TH-cam channel. Great content, very informative and I will be watching all the episodes very carefully as I prepare the construction of my own boat. Thank you for all your efforts, not just building the boat, but in the production of the videos. We really appreciate it.

It looks like you had a productive trip and met a lot on nice folks. I bet you wish there was more time for some sailing while you were there. Nice score on the white cedar planking. Interesting seeing the tongue and groove planking with epoxy. That looks strong without the need for caulked seams.

Great to see around the show and great to see the connection with Steve and Alex who I have followed for about 18 months with the construction of Arabella.

Bob. Stumbled onto you video blog last week and tonight got to watch this episode of your visit to Mystic WB show.. I was surprised to see your interview of the builders of the Somes Sound 12 and a half. I have the plans for it and was very surprised to see that the two builders are from Richmond, VA. I hope to meet them and compare notes. (only about thirty minutes away) I was able several years ago to take a glued lapstreak class under John Brooks at the WB School in Brookline. Great explanations and video work.

Thank you Bob for the trip to the Wooden Boat Show in Mystic. Hope to make it out there in the near future. Usually attend the Wooden Boat Festival nearby in Port Townsend, WA but would like to see the East Coast show also. Take care and have a good week ahead.

Hi Bob, It was nice to meet you at the show. I was equally impressed with Jay's Somes Sound. I can only hope that my Haven comes out as nice. I got to meet Steven and Alix too. It really was an incredible show and great weekend. Thanks for doing these various interviews. Cheers!

Great to see another video from you. Glad it was a great trip. Good to see some of my other favorite TH-camrs out there. A2A's Steve and Alex are great guys. Also good to see the same designed boat, although with a different planking style applied. She was a beauty, as I'm sure yours will be too. Nice find on the cedar, but is storing it standing the best idea? Just thinking it could warp other than how you need it to. Can't wait to see you bending. If it's not too late, could you put out a video on building your steaming set up?
    Thanks.

Next episode will be about building the steam box and steaming the frames. Yes, storing the lumber on edge is the way it was stored at the lumber yard. It is also how my local hardwood supplier stores all of their hardwoods. There is always a debate on vertical or horizontal. The concern of warping is not a factor with dried lumber. Fresh cut for sure horizontal. The benefits of vertical is that it takes less space and its easy to sort through looking for the board you want. So, vertical it is! Thanks for the question Thomas.

I can already see "Acorn" written in gold leaf. Leo's should say "Pancho" of course. ;)

I agree with Dale below. This looks like a great show with lovely boats, a real shame however that your report spent 90% of the time filming people talking and not on the boats themselves...

    Bob,
I’ve been reviewing your videos from the past; although I have been with you from the beginning.
As I research my own future project I now have a more comprehensive understanding and I’m really enjoying these more than from the beginning. Question: where can I obtain a copy of the plans for the Haven you’re building?
Not sure that will be my future build but I sure love the lines and would enjoy studying those plans in detail. I appreciate you sharing your journey and might add that it’s encouraging me to build my own. Not for the love of sailing but for the craftsmanship and enjoyment.

      Good Morning,
The plans for the Haven are from the Wooden Boat Store. www.woodenboatstore.com/products/16-haven-12-1-2-class?_pos=1&_sid=1ecca817e&_ss=r. $180.00
There are also study plans available for a couple of bucks.
I'm so happy you are enjoying and inspired to build you own boat. How would you like to build a boat with me?
I currently have 5 Haven 12.5 builders and 3 Some Sound 12.5 ( a boat you should have a look at) in my Boat Building Clinic. We meet once a week online and share information, questions, and progress on a private FaceBook page.
If you like to know more and schedule a free consultation with me here is a link:
      www.boatbuildingbootcamp.com
I'll look forward to chatting about your boat building goal.
Thanks for you kind comment and for watching.
      Cheers,
      Bob

      @@TheArtofBoatBuilding thank you!
Seems I have been planning for 3 years now. I still consider my journey as investigative. I have built only powerboats from aluminum and found a love for the planning, sourcing and potential problems associated with a project. It’s the work and skill development I enjoy most.
Thanks for the suggestion of the Some Sound. I like the Bettle Cat too.
