It’s hard to choose, people were a lot kinder back then, and then it all so suddenly took a big turn around 2020
Things got worse nearing the end of 2011 but it wasn't too visibly worse until around 2016 and then it quickly spiraled into insanity a few years later.

As a 2015 player, the new games are alot better, but ill always miss the nostalgia of playing prison life before the hackers

my opinion is that i like both old and new roblox, i kinda like rthro but i wont just wear a full rthro body and call it a day. i'd try and mix it with layered clothing, make a semi human-like character, or use rthro legs to make a centaur looking character. for games, it depends on how good the game is. if the game is older but has things like interesting mechanics or a cool artstyle, ill like it. if the game is newer and is an fps game, i wont like it. wether you like old or new roblox is completely up to someones mind, not statistics.

to be honest, old roblox was so much better. and it would be worth using it to get rid of the disease. plus it also gets rid of gamefam.
Old Roblox, compared to new, has alot of details and effects on people you might not expect. Not just does it effect the opinions of others, but actually old Roblox encourged others to go outside more and made others more used to having and enjoying games with less freedoms. This leaves less room for creativity, yes, however, it also encourages others to go outside and invest in their own interests as not just does Roblox then have the ability to hold those certain interests, but it inspires others and encourages others despite the fact that it can't carry it itself. This helps others go out in the real world and design games of their own interests and also do digital art and modeling. Similarly in a way where "If you want it, then go make it yourself." applies. It gives children a healthy mindset and encourages others to go touch grass for the first time in their pitiful lives.
The new Roblox, however, is less encouraging and more of the type to suck you in until there is nothing left. You see, while it encourages others to create for their own, it isn't for the reason some users expect. With the more restrictions in old Roblox, developers commonly pay more attention to their games and sometimes even have a reason to back up why they end up failing in some points. After all, sometimes it can help you mentally if there is a reason for something. This encourages the developer to still overcome it. But, as Roblox becomes more flexible, slowly and slowly that reasoning fades away and soon there is not much left to blame. This sometimes can lead to self-blame, encouraging the developer to quit as "Their work won't be as good as the others since they can't get past this one thing." Not just that, but it brings in a lack of challenge. And sure, its fun working with something that is easy to work with and the expectations in old Roblox were a bit low, but have you seen the amount of things that have been created? Not just is it not as entertaining to work with anymore as there are a lack of challenges now, but expectations are rising and more. Certain passions are slowly becoming unfit but this is only talking about the point of a developer's point of view. (Not all points would be seen as the same, as a note.)
In old Roblox, there were also certain fun challenges to overcome. Thankfully, ones with the avatar system have become creator in a point where its encouraging you to express your creativity and there are communities surrounding that. (The main issue I see is with payment and etc.) However, there is a great issue when it comes with the games. Slowly, as the games, or should I say EXPERIENCES, improve, others become less inclined to go outside and touch grass for the very first time in their pitiful lives. While this problem doesn't really lie much in Roblox, Roblox does act as a great factor in it. (I bet for some of you that if Roblox shut down, you guys would have nothing to do in your lives at all.) There are a few people who are on their devices for a healthy amount of time, but its becoming harder and harder to find those types of people. Now, the issue isn't because of their eyesight but overcoming and coping with challenges that come. Roblox constantly feeds entertainment and inspiration. But as you get older, that entertainment might fade away. You will get bored and soon it will just be seen as "That one rip off pixelated lego game made for babies under the age of 3". But here's the thing. Roblox constantly FEEDS entertainment. But it never teaches kids to make their own. And don't forget, some forms of entertainment bring in inspiration. And where does that inspiration go? Basically nowhere. So that inspiration just floats around in a child's brain and sometimes they are used to even using that as entertainment. But when the time comes around to use it? Sure, they can throw it out in the wild but when that inspiration runs out from that video game, basic ideas will fail to come to mind and some might not even find it appealing. It might even lead to them becoming stuck since they depended on some stupid video game to feed it to them to the point where they aren't used to using their brains like that anymore.

hello there! interesting outlook on the debate of old roblox vs. new roblox
your points are fair enough, but a lot of it doesn't really have anything to do with why old roblox was better. in fact, i feel like this whole first rant mostly explains its points by essentially saying old roblox is the opposite of good... i wouldn't want to play a game if it was so boring it just made me want to go outside more, which is technically a good thing, yet it has nothing to say about the platform itself. Nobody in 2007 would've really noticed or cared if there was less freedom, so the argument that the lack of creative potential encourages children to instead go touch grass for the first time in their pitiful lives doesn't really go anywhere. most kids probably just liked roblox because of how colorful, silly, and blocky it was. And if it really was better, doesn't that mean kids were more likely to stay instead of going outside?
but i do honestly find it kind of funny how pressed kids get whenever roblox shuts down for 10 milliseconds 💀
and about the whole "lack of challenge" thing, i would argue it is the complete opposite. studio nowadays is of course easier to use and navigate, but actually making a game to put up with the relative standards of the platform, even taking the flexibility, innovation, and lack of limitations, and yada yada ya into account, is much, much more difficult. old roblox does have a lot of limitations, but it's not like roblox users back then weren't used to it. that was just the way things started out. In fact, it actually made building roblox games so much easier, because to make a high quality game for its time, you didn't NEED to reinvent the wheel because the limitations pretty much forced your game to be like most of everyone else's.
i of course, am not saying old roblox wasn't better. there are a lot of things that the classic era did a lot better in my opinion. i personally prefer the simplicity and colorfulness. however, you could explain your reasons for prefering old roblox in better ways than linking it to the real world, as we're not talking about the real world... However, I do like how committed you are to your own opinion, and if you think it is really THIS MUCH better, then I ain't stopping you. i will update this soon because i literally need to go to bed its almost 3 am please help meeeeee and my eyes hurt. please tell me if i misunderstood something or if there are any holes in my reasoning.

kind of like a way to promote others to actually create things outside of roblox to make more money, compared to getting ripped off by like 70% or something.
both provide major benefits and major disadvantages to put it evenly but despite the fact that roblox would only be a concept for very few years, i am not really looking for roblox being just better through health and stuff. (even though i bet it would be alot better for quite the amount of people that i will not call names by)

@@thatonemelody you know what, that is very fair. i was a bit put off but thank you for clarifying. it does make a lot of sense that the limitations wouldn't be meant to make it "harder," but to simply promote kids to instead make BETTER use of their creative potential, while also having good fun with the platform. there are definitely many cons with the whole idea of getting paid from roblox games, which is basically what started all of those copy and paste games, simulators, and blah blah blahhh just to make a quick buck. because no one back then cared about making money, they paid more attention to their games, bringing more uniqueness and general fun to the platform, even if the games were insanely low quality. however, i think if you search long enough, you will find great roblox games hidden in the massive garbage pile that it is today. i really wish they brought back the genre search...
but i think neither is the answer. my ideal roblox is a combination of all the good things from both worlds. a modern roblox WITH the addition of soul, colour, and great events sounds like a fantastic platform. if i took control of roblox, this is how it would be. just bringing back old roblox is not a good idea, no matter how good it was. it'll never give us the same charm that it did when it REALLY happened, and it just feels ingenuine. maybe as an april fools joke or an anniversary event for a week but that's it LOL. thanks for the conversation. this was really interesting.

for my opinion, the new roblox improvements are very good. people arent really much bored of old games, but want to try something new. its just the things that went trending werent really nice. like online dating, toxicity, somethings like those. roblox has a good improvement, even ogs would like it. but people are ruining the game and they think they are gold.

The reason people preferring old roblox is because how fun and non toxic the game was back then. People never spammed ez,there was no mic up games or slenders,every sus thing was non sus,no vibe games,no toothpick leg flexers,it was a ordinary game.

As someone who's main account joined in 2013 (had older ones but kept forgetting the passwords and usernames to them because I was a dumb kid), but the only thing I can even bring myself to give modern Roblox props for (at least at face value) is its vastly superior servers and game engine. But that's where it stops, creativity was forced to scurry away in the shadows to avoid the destructive gaze of corporatism and profits. Fun stopped being the priority when the constant churning of shitty anime fighting games and knockoff cookie clickers that Roblox desperately shoves in your face through an awful algorithm that snuffs out any potential for competent and fun games to see the light of day. The exact day they removed the genre browser was when all hell broke loose. Less people were trying a variety of games, meaning less games got attention and a culture of meta gaming and toxic competitiveness began to bloom. So many people stopped playing for the sake of hopping in, having fun, goofing off, and maybe making friends. Now it's an unmanageable tide of oders and toxic little shits who just have to get the most expensive thing in a game that'll be forgotten in a few months time when a new trend springs up to milk dry of any profits.

i love using old roblox studio clients because of features like html pages and controller cars so i would say the only reason to play old roblox nowadays is for cool old features, also UGC kinda existed because user made cloths existed and also there was a series of hats using bookmesh2 that where user re textured

@@mrbobbilly2 UGC was made 4 years ago, not 2. And what he means is people can submit their retextures to Roblox since the early days and Roblox would sometimes upload those community made items.
Yeah I tried out the Novetus client (basically just old roblox studio) and oh my god, its so easy to just make a fully functional car. You dont even need a single script, just some controller flags and motors.

And since we’re in 2023, the limit is basically the Ozone layer decaying at this point, and people want better game over time. If roblox stayed old then the good games would be simple yet *fun* since it would probably be the fun-nes game
Old Roblox is better in terms of community and the simplicity allowed us all to be more creative and use our imaginations better. The new features they added recently did somewhat improve Roblox, but the community has since become mostly garbage.

I joined in 2020.. but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t experience the old roblox.. I remember playing this disney world game with my brother and playing prison life. I also play doom spire brick battle. It was fun playing it, but it’s still fun playing the new version! I like both of them, honestly,

1. We didn’t used to get annoyed by those annoying hashtags whenever you talk something appropriate it hashtags.
2. The toxicity never existed (trust me well some of em)

2017-2020 is the peak/prime of Roblox no questions asked. its got a chill community, fun games, funny youtubers, no rthro, public ugc is gone, and it actually has functioning features (if you reply 2014 then shut up since 2014 is just a buggy mess with tons of exploiters)

i played a lot of old games i used to love, and most of them are just really boring nowadays. the reason we thought old roblox was better was because we made memories during old roblox, and not new roblox.

personally, i like old roblox because games and stuff werent repetitive like newer games are.

old avatars were less unique (ei. salad crowns, paperhats, frozen limbs) than newer ones (i know korblox and headless are everywhere, but its more unique than a salad crown with a bear mask and the 'err' face), but i really like the old blocky avatars. (ex - those people who worked at frappe and that donut game)
also, the company itself is falling apart with all the updates and the community hating every single one
old and new roblox have their pros and cons.
old roblox: simpler, colors wern't bright, people would occasionally try to get you're roblox password.
new roblox: alot of games coping eachother with the same design and a slightly altered concept, there are good games but it's usually copies and money seekers, not everyone is *nice* to others.

The thing that is better is old roblox games. Like, a few years ago it's was normal but now people find it interesting, bc you never know what to expect from old roblox games. And it's nostalgic and interesting bc you understand what should you do. And in new roblox games you don't really understand it at the start. And a lot players have no time to play it for long. So much just pick the old ones, where gonna be no updates, no things added. But new roblox is better with avatars. You can do anything with your avatar. It's your choose how to look in new roblox. And in old you got not much accessories, like only the classic ones. And in new roblox, if you want, you can do old avatars too. But I think new and old roblox is good.

I been playing roblox for quite a while now since back in 2013. Honestly when it comes to was old roblox better is not easy to really prove because were in the modern era now. The expectation is so much more then back then but honestly i say old was better but only because it was good time.
There was so many new games that were actually enjoyable and fun and unique. And the community was so much better and how people came together during events and stuff.
Modern era its more dry and dead. Community has really disintegrated over the years with roblox being less active with its community.
The old era is truly something you had to experience for the first time to truly understand and it could happen again if devs weren’t so money hungry and the community was more lively

1. Events - there was eggs hunts rb battles and etc but unfortunately it was removed and never coming back
2. Avatar - no more inappropriate avatars EX : muscles

I'd say old roblox (pre-2020) was much better because the quality wasnt bad at all and we had egghunts, roblox cared, a better menu, and games with actual passion that arent copy and paste click simulators or copy and paste bandit beaters

lil baby, old doomspire requires the glitch aspects that make it very challenging. practicing and getting used to the glitches doomspire old provides. like sling jumping. rocket jumping, bomb jumping, wall savior like how u did. and many more. doomspire old isnt just bad, its that "your bad and dont understand the aspects and glitches of the game that makes doomspire possible to play." Old Roblox had a ton more of its own unique personality and style. Newer Roblox has more action packed games however most of them lose the unique style that made me love Roblox as a kid. So imo literally everything about old Roblox is better.
Old Roblox for me is 2008-2012 as those are the years I joined and played it the most as a kid. Now coming back to it years later it feels completely different and I don't like it at all.
I like old avatars, new games, and personality, same with puncutation. That’s what matters.
No gamefam, no ugly events, tix revival (you cant donate them), good server performance

If I am honest, I personally like old Doom Spire. Tbh I didn't even know it was called Doom Spire until now, but when people say "Old Roblox is better" I think they mean the styles plus the fandom. Cuz the styles and the fandom have gotten more toxic over the years like they post cringey videos using Roblox. Like Roblox is a kid's game, but it can be for adults too.
