    • @Boogie_the_cat

yo, spinning hard drives are an urban legend. nobody IRL would use such a slow piece of crap. the idea of a spinning hard drive was created by marketing execs in order to have something to compare SATA SSD's to, so they would appear to be faster.
As someone who has computed since the early 90's I can confidently say that spinning hard drives never existed, and we always had SSDs. mechanical hard drives only existed in your mind, and not in reality. Even my first PC, which had a ginormous 128 MEGABYTE hard drive, used an m.2 NVME drive, and I will fight anyone to the death who tries to say differently.
Also, we used fiber optic network cables to connect to Bulletin Board Services for all the latest Dr. Who rumors. And the 3.5 inch floppy disk drives were for aesthetic purposes only. they looked cute. 1.44 megs of data? come on, you're falling for it, not me. we used incredibly slow and expensive Zip drives for REAL POWER. goddamn were those things slow.

Well, people will be disappointed. Modern OSs (i.e. from the time of Windows 95) tend to push some processes in background when not interacting with the user. This means they free up memory by offloading to page file (in this case fast SSD) and basically minimize processes like anti-viruses. In practice, CPU would run at 100% all the time, but bloatware would not get more than 50% of that processing power.

I have always wanted to do exactly that! But having dual 24 cores with 128 gigs of ram, that would suck even harder!! Thanks for the great vid! Keep it up!

Armoury crate is the worst. I got an Asus GPU recently, and installed it to remove the RGB. It crashed, crashed my PC, turned the RGB back on, and installed a bunch of additional garbage and when I was trying to delete it, it left various left-overs all over the place.

Dawid you should have installed bonzi buddy via some compatibility layer or something. Then this would have been perfect.

My first experience with bloatware was with a Dell computer that I bought from Costco in 2003. Though with the processor nearly twice as fast as my one year older HP, the Dell was much slower in reality and was very unstable with blue screen of death ☠️ a frequent companion. 15 years later, just for a lark I did a clean install of Windows 7 on it and the geriatric computer sprung to life, putting to shame my brand new Samsung that had 40 different pieces of bloatware!

It's funny how the sponsor for this is one of the worst bloatware sources I've ever had the displeasure of needing to install for the sake of drivers. iCue's background service was sitting at 1GB used roughly an hour after boot.. for a headset. And when the software was uninstalled after I switched headset brands, **the service persisted and continued to flood RAM usage**. I had to reformat to get rid of it.

I personally find half of the utilities the board mfrs release (like overclocking utilities, and other stuff) to be very pointless. About the only ones I use (and if I ever use them) are the CPU monitoring ones that monitor temperature, because that can be important (although I've been using CoreTemp lately which is very light weight and reads the temp from the CPU no the sensors on the board; plus CoreTemp gives you individual core temperatures and an overall tempoerature whereas board utilities generally give you an overall temperature rating -- which is probably an average temperature or based on the thermal sensor under the metal heatspreader on the CPU).

This was the first time in my life that I felt sorry for a Windows installation. It takes a special kind of sadism to do that do a PC. And it also takes a special kind of masochism to do that to yourself. Maybe you should upload that to Xvideos or PH or something.
