NL can be proud of the 2nd run, a lot of good decisions and he intuitively build the "stance dance" watcher meta build with rushdowns, mental fortress, talk to the hands in a relatively small deck. And "The Secret Sauce" for infinites is a non-exhaustable 1 cost calm source like fear no evil or inner peace because it goes energy neutral with wrath where you basically just loop through the deck repeatedly.
I was going to say the same re: infinite, but also the relic that gives extra energy when exiting calm would also work with vigilance (not that it showed up), if you had the relic and a 1-cost calm then you end up energy positive too, not that there's much use for that once you're infinite
I mean he also didn't get the lotus tho. Getting an infinite without a lotus requires so much luck you can't really blame him for keeping a judgement (adding an extra was HILARIOUS though)
Honestly with Centennial Puzzle + Blue Candle it's arguably better to not get rid of the innate curse since it effectively becomes a 0-energy "lose 1 HP, draw 3" which is super relevant with a power heavy deck that can brick if it doesn't have its enablers soon enough.
The problem is that he discards his calm enablers which ruins his chances of getting the loop going. The more he plays calm, the more he can get back into wrath form. He just doesn't see it because he sees calm as something to end your turn with.
NL, establishment + meditate gets you to infinite there. You meditate the vigilance is how, because establishment works with meditate. So meditate the vigilance with establishment active, the vigilance becomes one cost instead of two, then just vigilance + either tantrum or erupt over and over until the thing you're fighting dies--you'll keep spending and replenishing two energy while constantly drawing the cards back into your hand. You would also need to make sure your deck is small enough so that you don't block your draw.
Yeah he discarded his calm enablers a bit too often in a deck without fear no evil. Buuut as others have mentioned without a purple lotus it's really hard to get infinite
Love how NL still looks over to his other monitor where chat usually is when he churns out the anecdotes. Even when he is doing pre-recorded vids, man cant stop glancing
great second run, he was so close to the infinite just never realized that he needed more calm enablers (fear no evil, inner peace or even more tranquilities) to get the energy base to keep bouncing with tantrum. still very fun to watch ggs :)
The entire rant from 31:20 to about 32:05 is like, life-affirming to me in a way that it confirms for me why I watch NL. The energy. The psychotic bliss of double rushdown.
Fear No Evil and either Purity or a thinner deck. That's what you were missing to go infinite. Or potentially the boss relic that gives an additional energy when leaving calm. You need to be able to gain more energy from stance dancing than it costs to stance dance while also ensuring that Rushdown always gives you your stance dance cards. The ideal is probably Fear No Evil and Tantrum.
Going to keep it totally real with you that innate writhe mixed with blue candle and the relic that makes you draw the first time you take damage in a combat was a sick combo. Basically a free 3 card draw at the start of every combat for the cost of 1hp
I know I’m being a type A chatter but I paused the vod and jumped in the air and celebrated that he’s finally going to get infinite he’s going to take it and see the meditate synergy and then he didn’t even look upon the card for longer than a picosecond
i think he’s only a thinner deck and a one cost calm card away from the infinite, right? or the relic that gives extra energy from exiting calm. not gonna rewind but i’m not sure if he was ever offered either one. either way fun run
I think if he took establishment early he could use that, then use meditate to get a calm card with retain, make it 0 cost and constantly draw it with scry/rushdown. Im an a5 andy though so not sure if correct
@@batcarpet1225 oh true! i didn’t realize establishment’s reduction lasts for the whole combat. yeah that would’ve been a cool way to get the infinite then. that’s really good to know thank you!
They really should have kept the rares (and some uncommons) simpler because like genuinely, what's the use case of adding 3 random skills????? I can understand stuff like bomb and finesse but come on man
Might not be the same there, but in some places you can get a second McDouble for cheaper, though I don't know if it is advertised or not. Ever since I learned that I've only ordered McDoubles, and sometimes nuggets for a strange marriage between the two.
"the value of a thin deck" Yeah, imagine if it was actually thin and not 17. Watcher goes fking hard with thin decks. If he learns to skip a little more he gets a20 easy
NL suffering from the same illness he had in SAP. Where he core memories the one time awful cards worked, then loses dozens of times trying to recapture that moment.
bro is dangerously close to understanding the watcher infinite
If he took that establishment i wouldve pogged so hard
King just needed more energy, probably in the form of cheaper ways to get into calm/wrath
Tbf he didnt see FNE, inner peace, or violet lotus this run
more/cheaper ways to get into calm would’ve done it right? perhaps with judgements and strikes/defends removed?
The -1 cost to retained cards would have gone hard
NL can be proud of the 2nd run, a lot of good decisions and he intuitively build the "stance dance" watcher meta build with rushdowns, mental fortress, talk to the hands in a relatively small deck. Yep. Also the lotus boss relic can make the rush down infinite work too. He was so close. But he didn’t even need it, he got there.

true lol it's literally just bag of prep but you take 1 damage
The problem is that he discards his calm enablers which ruins his chances of getting the loop going. The more he plays calm, the more he can get back into wrath form. He just doesn't see it because he sees calm as something to end your turn with.

still very fun to watch ggs :)
Me telling the mf why going back 200 years would be a really bad idea for him and also no it was NOT simpler times back then:
4:21 Me when I come home from 8 hours of work wanting to relax and play some video games
Skipping establishment with meditate in his deck when he wants to go infinite for a second judgement was painful.
"Almost threw my pc out the window..." Preach!
Wow that guy from the other episode was right, the monsters do look smaller with preserved insect
And larger with bonus health.
Yeah, it's pretty cute.
The entire rant from 31:20 to about 32:05 is like, life-affirming to me in a way that it confirms for me why I watch NL. The energy. The psychotic bliss of double rushdown.
27:45 The benefits of a thin, consistent deck, sir.
The disrespect for Cut Through Fate is surreal lol
Watch out guys. He's learning the stance dance.
this man is obsessed with windmill strike
He put sugar in his own gas tank with the judgements, but it thankfully didn't choke up the engine. Wicked run.
I've never related to a video title more than this
"This is not a Sandra Bullock movie. This is my life". Truer words were never spoken...
Great run, great vid!
Felt proud watching this one

His distain for wish is crazy to me. It’s almost an always take for me.
NL is the only guy I'd let just spout random math at me
Perhaps the real Spire was the friends we slayed along the way.
You gotta talk tuah hand
45:58 - Me at the BDSM party my friend invited me and told it was gonna be chill
I’m so proud of the double rundown decision, it is totally worth it. 4 draw is just stupid good with Mental fortress as well
Going to keep it totally real with you that innate writhe mixed with blue candle and the relic that makes you draw the first time you take damage in a combat was a sick combo. Basically a free 3 card draw at the start of every combat for the cost of 1hp
Great build NL! Hope you weren't late ;)
That act 2 establishment skip
I know I’m being a type A chatter but I paused the vod and jumped in the air and celebrated that he’s finally going to get infinite he’s going to take it and see the meditate synergy and then he didn’t even look upon the card for longer than a picosecond
NL when he sees the worst card in existence: “we take those”
omg he's actually learning how to play the watcher it took 15 ascensions but we did it lmao
All time epic moment
Immediately in the third fight didn't see secret weapon furry of blows into vigilance furry of blows. My bald goat has a lot to learn.

You were missing a calm enabler that didn't end your turn/exhausted
To go infinite with this you needed the item that gives you one more energy when you leave calm
Or something like fear no evil
So I got those all seasoned crispers…
I mean…. They’re alright. 7/10 that bacon flavor is in there
All dressed*
12:06 when the pimple fails to go away after trying a few home remedies
They are rare for a reason except the times they really screwed up and there's no reason to ever use them

I can appreciate the mcdouble tho i personally get the triple cheeseburger anymore
bro is allergic to good sequencing
Might not be the same there, but in some places you can get a second McDouble for cheaper, though I don't know if it is advertised or not. Ever since I learned that I've only ordered McDoubles, and sometimes nuggets for a strange marriage between the two.

"the value of a thin deck"
Yeah, imagine if it was actually thin and not 17. Watcher goes fking hard with thin decks.

to me windmill is one of the worst cards in this game, it just does nothing, far too slow
