I have been a loyal 5th gen 4Runner owner since I was 18 (a decade now). I had an FJ Cruiser at 16 and still have it now 12 years later lol. My dad was a Toyota Motor Corporation Japan (corporate) employee for over a decade, before moving us to the west. I was complaining to him that Toyota will probably discontinue the 4Runner, but my dad suggested that the GX 550 and LC Prado are family oriented 4x4s, targeting the Defender and Wagoneer type buyers and Toyota might be making the 6th gen 4Runner to be more hardcore offroader to directly compete with Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. He was speculating though.
Also, people don't realize that the 4Runner has always been a mid-sized Land Cruiser, based on Prado, with different body and different name. The name "Land Cruiser" is just a badge

Fortuner would make sense to battle Bronco and Wrangler if Toyota make it extremely rugged since that SUV is based from 1st to 3Rd Gen Hilux based 4Runner

Base Sequoia $60k, base LC (new Lexus GX) at $50k, base new 4Runner with real off road stuff $40k. LC skews older while 4Runner younger. 4Runner stays!! Its an ICON.

The LC that was announced will be based off the GX. The 4R has too big of a following to axe it. The difference will be the size/powertrain and therefore cost. LC 2024, 4R 2025.

Toyota could absolutely axe it... the 4runner is pretty much only a NA market thing... everywhere else, it is the Land Cruiser... Toyota giving us a version of the Land Cruiser that fills the same market niche as the 4runner allows them to cease production of what is (for Toyota at least because of their global reach) a niche product.
Of course, they could also just cut and paste the new Tacoma and slap on an SUV rear section and keep printing money here in the US selling that... will be interesting to see.

You me I think alike when it comes to the 4Runner. I believe the Prado will replace the 4Runner here in the US. The 4Runner is awesome but financially it does make sense since it’s not sold in many markets. Mainly in the US and Canadá.

Yeah I mean where I’m from we have prados and in the US we have 4Runners and as much as I love both cars idk how they can justify both

Ah nvm i see the sticker you're talking about. figured we'd see his license plate in the video and that's what you were talking about. Still my car doesn't have any registration sticker anywhere on it. I guess that's allowed where I'm from

Lol I have the new sticker just haven’t put it on since I was planing to change the cracked windshield!
