Hup Pa Tat is a unique tourist attraction with a large limestone cave. We have to walk through it in order to see the ancient forest hidden within. This limestone mountain is approximately 245-286 million years old. When it was gradually eroded by rainwater, It erodes through the cracks in the rock. until a large cave was formed inside the mountain (This process takes hundreds of thousands of years) until the cave ceiling collapses over time. It caused the plants above to fall as well. Then a forest appeared inside the cave.
When the forest is surrounded by limestone mountains on all sides And there is an environment suitable for the growth of plants, including temperature, humidity, air, sunlight, etc., thus creating a unique ecosystem similar to a hundred million years ago, including wild animals and plants, especially the Tat or Tao tree, a palm family plant that cannot be planted It will only grow naturally. It takes up to 10 years to bear fruit.
To go and explore the Tat forest inside, all you need is a flashlight and mosquito repellent (mosquitoes are very fierce here. But if you come in winter, there will be few mosquitoes) and sneakers. It's ready to go. Because he made the walkway very convenient. There is no need to climb anything at all. Along the way there will be signs providing information about this place for you to read.
Along the way, you may encounter local animals here such as chamois and pheasants (which are often only heard but never seen), but the most highlight here is the pink dragon millipede. That can only be found at the end of the rainy season and beginning of winter every year. (Around August - November) It is a rare animal that was discovered in Thailand in this Pa Tat valley. And it is the only one in Thailand. When fully grown, the body will be approximately 7 centimeters long. You must observe carefully. Because it's very small
The distance to enjoy the nature is easy, 700 meters round trip, and takes about 30 minutes to see. We have to pass through a completely dark cave hall about 40 meters away first.
After passing through the tunnel, you will enter the Pa Tad area. It has an area of approximately 2 rai. You can walk around and admire the view and study nature. And there is a cave hall in the middle of Pa Tat valley that has stalactites, stalagmites, and leaning stalagmites for you to see as well. I repeat, just look. You shouldn't touch it. Please help preserve this ancient world to make it a fun tourist destination as before.
Location: Hup Pa Tat, Lan Sak District, Uthai Thani Province.
