bet you never thought 11 years ago you would be returning in a van, sober, with a succesful youtube channel with all the travels you have done in addition to buying a property in Ireland. lifes mad when you think about it. But as always, thanks for you both being you and bringing us interesting content. Dont forget your never alone, you have 98k people living in that van with you!
Sorry but I'm tempted to ask...what did the Romans ever do....Great video girls and such a great country! I had a two week holiday in 2010 and did a couple of mini road trips, even stayed in a Pousada, one of the heritage places you can stay, often old palaces or castles, amazing. Following your adventures with tons of interest. Keep calm and keep adventuring!!
13:03 Not rinsing after washing up. This is the one and only major culture shock I've faced in Ireland. American raised, living in Ireland now 7 years (via over 20 years living in other places outside the US) and the not rinsing after washing up it still shocks me. And I'll never be won over, always gonna rinse. LOLOLOLOL!
I'm sure I started following u about 2 years ago because u were in Portugal, Monsanto go to the top of the village and keep right ,it's a cobbled street up to the castle, left and it's rough and rural, just like I took, and u, when I visited. You cinematography of landscape as you travel is the best and so informative although short, I think that's what pulled me to u in the first place. I have not followed u for a long time. But u are gripping, and such a lovely couple, thankyou ❤
A week of icy, snowy, very cold weather here in North East USA. Was thinking of you girls in warm sunny Spain and Portugal...just to see you're still searching for the sun. But I always enjoy traveling along with you.❤
Great times, thank you for sharing them with us all 💗Yes Portugal 🇵🇹 is a wondrous wonderful beautiful place & watching you both having such goodtimes traveling through a country gives us all a snippet of the places, then add both of your personalities with amazing footage is absolutely MAGIC 💗& all the mist made for some cool BEAUTIFUL shots. We also arrived in Portugal (Sat 20th) & stayed on the outskirts of the great Lisbon👍 Then Thursday we got the Train to Faro then Olhao which is so gorgeous, with lovely people, if you get this far I suggest visiting Culatra & Armona island 💗💗💗 enjoy, keep up the great work, stay safe & remember we love you 4 lots n lots 💗💗💗
North Portugal landescape is diferent as South. If like to have amazing view about Capital Lisbon cross old bridge 25 April direction Almada city. Under bridge you have amazing river Tejo. Go Christ king statue enjoy drive safety best Regards
well you never disappoint, always top quality videos, there must be so much work goes into these, just pure class and I am so pleased that almost 100k have found you
Always entertaining. You always find lovely local villages and fabulous park-ups, unless you edit out the naff ones? I didn’t know about the time difference thing🤔 Good job keeping it slow on the way down, nothing worse than an overheated fanny!🥵 Enjoy your rest. Hope the weather improves 🌝👍
It’s so funny that you should be talking about the Roman heating system today. My husband just found a bit of hyper cause tile in the field this very afternoon. The pillars of tiles you saw would have had a floor on top and the hot air ran through under the floor and up hollow box tile flues in the walls to create the heating in the rooms! So you would have under floor and in wall heating. Heat would come from a furnace at one end of the system!
If you are travelling back up through France this week watch and not get stuck in one of the French farmer blockades. We got stuck in one in Bordeaux today for 4 hours while heading down to Lisboa
Have I mentioned Bee and Theo of the Indie Projects are homesteading there in Portugal. Also Mr and Mrs Adventure, Drew and Britney are also building out in Portugal....both couples are long term van lifers...seek them out, you all would click nice!y
Fair play to you guys driving so much and fitting in the dog walks, shopping etc. It’s really tough and we did the same in reverse last year to get back home from Portugal. But it’s SO worth it. Didn’t realise you’d not explored Portugal in your van before. You will LOVE it. We stayed in Tavira last Christmas and New Year. Lovely little town and would highly recommend. Cheers X
The Roman hypo-caust heating system involved having an extremely big fire from which hot exhaust gasses were pulled through stone ducting under the floor to exit via a chimney which was drawing air up on the other side of the property. Basically it was hot air ducting before its time.
Wauw the mist sure gives an other texture your Footages dispite the mist was amazing those small villages / Towns. So pretty 😍. Sure looked steep but the views were worth it . Have heard anything more about your house in Ireland ( i had a few issues with internet ,and been very sick with flu last weeks ) only just Catching up . Have a Good weekend 🥰
I love Portugal. Such a beautiful country. Check out Evora if you get chance. Its in the Alentejo which is super hot in summer but should be a lot cooler this time of year 😀
HI LOUISE, EMILY AND AJ AWESOME VIDEO THANK YOU GUY'S ARE AMAZING LOVE THE OLD VILLAGES 💥💯💥♥️♥️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Did you see the R4 at 10 minutes? Only in dry climates can they survive like that. Anywhere that gets salty roads has long since dissolved all of those.
No two minute tour? I was watching David John's (@Vandemonium/@CruisingTheCut) tour of his campground and commented that he should have done a "Two Minute Tour" (a la Emily running around gasping😆😉). I think Louise needs to install passenger grab handles for Emily to get in and out of "Fanny". (We call them "Bejesus Handles" around here because they are for nervous passengers to grab and yell "Bejesus! Slow down! Watch where you're going!")
Good morning my lovelies, Having coffee and trying Pains An Chocalat for the first time. Every time y'all go through France and get these I have been intrigued so I went to Aldi and picked some up. Absolutely delcious, although I am sure they are better in France lol. Love the travels and hope you always stay safe and have the best times. Much love from the panhandle of Florida.
Monsanto was so dreamy beautiful, and the way the houses were all pieced together, breathtaking. I had no idea Portugal was so mountainous, green, and lush! 🌄💖
Under house heating how cool it’s that I guess it’s a similar style to laying a chimneys horizontal in the direction of the prevailing winds but they used block to make a matrix for the hot air to pass
Portugal was the last big international trip I took, and I love it so much. Your video brought back a lot of great memories, even though it's through a different part of the country than we visited.
the top of that mountain was absolutely beautiful! I understand why you didn't want AJ to trek all the way up but just the upward views you provided were just lovely. Hope you find the sun soon and can enjoy days of it. Thanks again for sharing your life with us and as always, stay safe and we'll see you in the next video! p.s. risotto looked good and I hate shrooms!
Love your videos girls. I can say that since I am old enough to be your grandmother. Thanks for putting in the name of the towns in your videos. I love google maps and like to see all the places you have seen. I also love history so every time you stop at a castle, or those ruins, I am always pausing the video to read up on the history. Well done, well done. Safe travels and look forward to your next video.
❤love the background music.ladies .I know the Portuguese are lovely folk.and its odd they're not at all Spanish or like any country near them Xx enjoy..am.enjoying seeing your journey xx
What a treat, I enjoy your videos and always look forward to them coming through. I love Lisbon,,can't wait to see the videos. my friend lives in cascai (maybe spelt wrong), which is near Lisbon. xx
My husband and I fell in love with Portugal and bought a 200 year old farmhouse in the north of Portugal (Castelo do Penalva ) and lived in a caravan for 7 years while renovating the place. The Portuguese people are so lovely and have welcomed us into the community. You can find some stunning old buildings to renovate which are at a reasonable price. Loving your videos and have been a subscriber for a long time. Best of luck with the new property in Ireland.
So basically there is a floor suspended above the brick pillars. To one side of the building they light a fire and the hot air circulates in the space below the floor somehow. Thus the building is heated. Amazing for their time in history. The Romans also invented the flushing toilet apparently!!!!! Clever people!!!!
I know by now it's probably too late but not far from Torres on the was to lisbon there's a city call Rio Maior that had a massive roman villa that's worth visiting.
Sunday wouldn't be good without your video in the evening. Oh wow such a beautiful Portugal. Really great seeing AJ in the middle of the van looking at the route and everything. Another great video girls . Take care all 👍🌷
🇵🇹 😎🌧Portugal is such a varied country...I've been housesitting around Portugal for nearly 3 years and every region, even areas within the regions are so different. The variety in weather and landscape is unbelievable. I finally settled in the Minho region up North! ⛰ 🌊

It’s crazy but amazing 😀
Never knew you had issues with alcohol.
@@rachelhudson4662I think they were referring to getting drunk at the all inclusive place last time they were in Portugal but I could be wrong 😊
Yep Lousie did say it was all inclusive there first hols
The roman under floor heating is called hypocaust. Basically there's a fire and the heat is channelled under the floor and up channels in the walls.
Geothermal baths? I’d build by hot springs.
Sorry but I'm tempted to ask...what did the Romans ever do....Great video girls and such a great country! @@campervibe Well that's good to know! 😆😆😆
Those old photos are brilliant! 7:35
My thoughts too!
Me too. I loved seeing the old photos. Beautiful couple.
Welcome to Portugal, girls! I’ve lived here for over 20years after leaving the U.K. I hope you love it here as much as I do.
So far it’s amazing 😀
AJ is so cute his little face on the dashboard made me smile
Nearly 100k, well deserved
Thank you 😀
The creative touches, personal banter and awesome music on this scenic journey make this an enjoyable video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your film making Lou gets better and better, so professional, I love it 👍🐸
So happy that you post the town's name in the video. It makes it easy to find it on a map! What a lovely trip you're on. Love your channel!
Our pleasure!
Emily, those are "crackin" bangs you were sporting on your previous Portugal visit! 😂
😂😂
Thanks for taking us with you on these adventures!!! Absolutely love traveling with you. And your musical soundtrack choices are the bomb!!!!❤
I have no idea who the artists are but I love the music you choose. I am enjoying your trips. ❤
I totally agree! ❤
What a wonderful collection of places. The mist only made them even more atmospheric.

Utter love your music. All stuff i haven’t heard before and once again congrats Louise on your video making skills. You’re a real talent.
The heating system at that ruin, looks a bit like the ones in Bath at the Roman Baths, which kinda makes sense as this is a ronan ruin.
You may find the tolls somewhat more expensive than you first thought. Welcome to Portugal.
