New song from comedian Rob Paravonian in which he raps about his prowess selling candy for the annual music department fundraiser. It's for all of the band geeks out there who had to hustle to support their crew.
I laughed myself sick over this. Back in high school, about a million years ago, I sold candy bars for the drama club. I had students coming to my house at night to get their fix. This song really took me back. I've gone straight since then, but it's nice to know some things never change.
Rob Paravonian, you are my candy lyric hero. I am a sales rep for a "certain fundraising company" and in the 39 years that my family has been with them, I have NEVER seen or heard anything so genius. (I'm also a former guard member and coach, so there's that!) I am forwarding this to my parents who did this for 32 years before I was ushered in, because they will be thoroughly amused and entertained. If you ever move to Montana, I'll make sure to take care of your "candy problem." Brilliant job, man.
that was pure genius! I really hope you upload more of these in the future! :) I recognize how hard it can be to make a great song with a beat and lyrics to match it. You're very skilled at your writing ability and your delivery.
There's even the reference on the "invisible hand" haha, you're a talented guy Rob, the lyrics and the guitar playing, that's way creative! Greetings from Brazil
I keep coming back to this because it made me so happy in the early youtube days... But today I'm imagining who you could have opened for that day that could have made as big of an impression
"Bass... and maybe a little tuba, this year's band camp os gonna be in Aruba" I had to pause to finish laughing so I didn't miss anything. Rob is the shit
My Band teacher took some much needed time out of parade season practice to show us this. we lold. he told us why we dont do fundraisers other than Music Under the Stars, because he said he didnt want us to become drug dealers dawg
there was a misspelling in the first version on the first subtitle. I would have let it slide but the word "public" without the L was a little too distracting. Funny, yes, but embarrassing. Decided to try again :)
I never could master the whole "don't snack off your own supply" thing. They'd give me a box of ridiculously overpriced chocolates to try to sell, and my mum would end up having to pay for the whole box because I'd eat them all :-\
This made me laugh so hard! It's true, teachers really do have students sell candy to raise money for band trips. Brilliant and hilarious :D Awesome tune Rob!
That's how I paid for my senior trip. Everybody in the senior classes were selling candy, but I had two freshmen in my drama class help me out. I sold more candy than was required to pay off the trip. I also ticked off a teacher selling gummi bears and Toblerone for German club before class started. Won the competition, too. (Won a stupid mouse pad.)
This is super! I came across your videos by chance.... and now I've had a really good evening, thanks to you!!! :0) (former 'cellist/pianist' from London, England) Long may you continue to entertain as you do! Wishing you every happiness, and success... Tanya Perhaps you'll be on stage in London sometime... I can wish!
Best part is every word he says is true at my highschool. The only difference is its a turf war between all the different clubs; you sell on their turf and your toast.
Oh man! The school where my cousin is going to is selling candy bars for their fund raiser. Hahaha, I was laughing when I heard that...I remembered 'pushing band candy', lol =P
My band director LOVES this video, he told us to not go watch it, keeping reverse psychology in mind, and now everybody loves it. The only difference between our band and RP's is that we sell gourmet sausage and cheeses instead of candy, which is way less fun...
XD so funny and true! The Band at my school wasn't the most well known during candy sales time though. The JROTC kids (me included) were the people to seek out. We kicked Band's butt! lol Even Band kids bought from us.
wow... my band did the cookie dough fundraiser around 2 or so weeks ago, in place of the candy sale (which is what we usually do) ... and its also kinda funny cuz there's someone in the band who sells candy for another fundraiser (idk which) and she's ALWAYS selling candy...
@cheeter46 It's either 3-1-0-0-3-3, or x-1-0-0-3-3. I can't tell if he's playing the 3 on the low E string or not. He's fretting the A string with his index finger and the highest two strings with his ring finger and pinky. If he is playing the low E string, he's fretting it with the middle finger.
Breaking Band

the chord progression is actually genius
It's decent... I wouldn't say "genius."

After years, only just now understood the awkward "for all my bandmates" line
There's even the reference on the "invisible hand" haha, you're a talented guy Rob, the lyrics and the guitar playing, that's way creative!
Greetings from Brazil
lol you had me at "andantino playas"
I come back every couple years and laugh at this
I keep coming back to this because it made me so happy in the early youtube days...

I bought new uniforms for all of my BANDMATES.”🤣🤣🤣

My band didn't sell candy... they sold fruit. Fortunately, my choir sold the BEST COOKIE DOUGH EVER!

Lol, I got 20 freshmen pushing my products. . . . . So true, so true.
Rob hits it out -- AGAIN! I know everyone's loving the Adam Smith Easter egg, but I thought the Michael Gross caption was awesome, too!
