We've been able to do that for quite a long time now. The new part is being able to use pieces and add them together to make a sewing kit. Say you need 10 pieces to make a kit. You can have a 6, 3, and 2 to make one. Same with thread.

Fishing towns usually have a lot of fishing lines which can since recently be used to make sewing kits
