This drum beat and dance is a signature performance of my Rakahangan people. The choreography dance is dearly focused mainly on the female and their actions. Their hips and movements identifies these signatures of how to move in the most respectful manner as a Rakahangan Women. It is a vital piece of history which was passed down from generation to generation. " Tamariki Rakahanga Tu motu Manihiki" this is referred to Te Fuinga o Niva meaning the 4 subtribes that concludes the Rakahanga and Manihiki people as one. In time of need or search for food, my people voyaged between these 2 islands to ensure the future generation will survive. I am honored to have been taught these history amongst my Rakahangan people. Therefore Hands down to all leaders who took time and effort in putting this master piece of our history together. Unfortunately Sunny Island we have racism within the cook island race. Although my people of Rakahanga are great but in the eyes of the judges we are not the judges are too strict on northern islanders of the Cook islands.
