I actually did it! :D The first step is the hardest!! Keep going everyone, we're all gonna get there if we just try, put in the effort, are willing to make mistakes and be vulnerable and uncomfortable. Every long journey is made up of so many of these tiny steps.

Well done! One step at a time :D The flat wash is an essential technique and can seem so hard when you start... but in a couple of months time you'll be amazed at how effortless and satisfying it is :D

I wish I had taken these lessons 33 years ago when I started watercolor! Since then it's been trial and error, mostly error! Thanks for showing the way. I just got the watercolor brush pens, so thanks for the tutorials on those, too.

Thanks for this tutorial and all the others yourself and Mary put on you tube for us to watch and learn. Sometimes when you haven't used watercolour or any medium in art it's great to go back to basics. Remembering how to do these basics might seem trivial or easy to some but they can also be the key to getting people using watercolours once more. Thank you Sam and Mary at chromatek in Tokyo Japan with love from Emily Curtis in Cornwall xx

Love your tutorials! I’m reviewing beginning lessons to prepare for teaching my 7 yr. old granddaughter how to watercolor. She’s excited to get started, but I’ve been a colored pencil artist for about 18 yrs., so I’m a little rusty about W/C now. Your tutorials are being a good review for me so I can excite some interest in this child’s artistic creations. I’m also new to your product line, but I’m glad I stumbled onto it. The products seem perfect for us as we explore W/C together. Thanks for making this so easy for this teacher!

What is the board that you are using? I can't see the name or find it on Amazon.

Heya! It is just a regular food chopping board :D Any wooden board is fine. This one is made by ひのき (Hinoki), I got it on Amazon in Japan. Hope that helps.
