A note about Daniel Gesmer: He was kind enough to lend his blessing to this project, with the understanding that his original artistic vision be presented with dignity and respect. Gesmer gained notoriety when he was featured in Powell-Peralta's iconic 1988 video "Public Domain.” The producer of “Public Domain,” Stacy Peralta, may have had good intentions in sharing Daniel's unique balletic approach to flatland freestyle skateboarding. But let's just say that the nuance of his artistry was largely lost on an audience of young teens in the late 1980s. Well let me state in no uncertain terms that I consider Daniel Gesmer a true original who had the audacity to explore the artistic potential of my beloved sport of choice. I hope this creative reimagining of his skating serves to highlight and complement his vision.
