@ I had taken my kids for the first time to Scotland from Sheffield After a long drive we ended up in Glen Nevis campsite We had three days up there And one day I drove from where we were camped all the way to Gairloch That’s when I first saw loch Maree My kids were 13 They’re 32 now And still talk about the trip 👌❤️✌️
What a wonderful story. I guess the highlands are like that and I've ended up doing similar days - you just can't stop wanting to see the next amazing landscape round the next hill 🙂
Spectacular scenery in the most beautiful setting there is no where quite like it in the world. Makes me proud to be a Scotsman and that you are showcasing this wonderful place. Thank you.
What a lovely combination of beatiful scenery, skilled filmmaking and interesting commentary. The algorithm took too long to send me to you; I have some catching up to do!
Wonderful video feargus. Particularly enjoyed the magnificent sunrise time lapse. Your wonderful christmas cards went down a treat when received by my family and friends. (May i encourage others to purchase these for all occasions) Looking forward to your 2025 endeavours. Stay warm and well-fed, my friend. Well...at least well-fed given your endeavours!!
Thanks for the comment, and thanks again for buying some of the cards… please do encourage others. I’ll have a bigger range by the spring/summer as well. Staying well fed isn’t usually a problem - in my younger days I’d get so hungry because I didn’t take enough food I’m traumatised into always having plenty now 😅
Happy new year my friend🙏🏻. Very best wishes to you. Hopefully you’re fully recovered now. Congratulations on breaking the 1k subs mark. It’s totally deserved 👍. And congratulations on blocking the first troll 🗑️ 😎. Great work 👍Lovely video too. I can see the effort you put into this. Stunning scenes 👌🏻🙏🏻 ATB
Hello Feargus great video again my friend, really nice content, lovely footage. Climbed a bit of Slioch last year and Loch Maree is stunning as you have showed us. You peace, your personality and love for Scotland shined in the videos keep all that going. I do alot of wild camping in Scotland and sure our paths will cross as some point for a camp. Speedy recovery. Steve 👍
Hi Steve. Yes I saw one of your videos at one point some time ago. Can’t remember where you were now but I will check your Slioch video out one of these days. Thanks for the lovely comment and yes I think Scotland is small enough we may well run into each other at some point. ATB 🙂.
Hi Fergus.Only just discovered you're channel and obviously subscribed straight away why would anyone not want to..!!!The camera work involved is so good just loved the way you present the channel..Big thank you. Please keep them coming Brother..God bless..❤
Feargus, the internet is like a having several hedgehogs in your bed, there is always a prick. Anyway, keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more quality youtubes. I really enjoyed watching this. I was in Glen Affric last year, it is a wonderful area, as true to nature as you can find in Scotland.
Haha… I love that hedgehog analogy 😅. Glen Affric is awesome. I’m planning do do a video there in the spring or autumn as I haven’t been there in over 10-years. Thanks for the kind words and all the best 🙂.
I am one of those new subscribers after that wonderful Cairngorms adventure ( even showed it to my wife on the big screen who for once, enthused😱). Absolutely love your Vlogs… the intelligent and informative commentary, A-mazing filming/photography, the variety of adventures, and your background music doesn’t have some gravelly voiced performer singing through their nose( I’m a professional classical musician with Scottish Opera). I can’t believe anybody could have anything negative to say about your Vlogs, it speaks volumes of the sad petty individual. Sorry to hear you have had the flu, I also had it around the same time as you and I’m still not hill fit. I hope your strength returns soon, you can get back out on the hills and we have some more incredible weather for you to go adventuring….. I note there are mutterings of another cold snap towards the end of January 🤞🤞🤞 I await eagerly your next offering. Tim
Thanks a lot Tim. I’m amazed you like the copyright-free music given your refined professional taste - but I’m not a fan of the other stuff most people go for either. The trolling comment was specifically about my observation that it’s nice to see people of different ethnic backgrounds in the hills, so yes, I think you summed up their position well. Flu sucks alright and I’m sorry to hear you were floored by it as well. I can still feel it too, though I’m stronger this week. Thanks again for your encouraging words, and I’m delighted your wife liked the last video too!
Once again Fergus outstanding footage, and a Good New Year to you, loved your video, was there in the June 2024, and was on the Island upon a Loch etc, etc, water levels were lower then and able to walk on the lovely forsaid island, a truly remarkable area. Just viewed your Morven, flow country footage also, excellent, walked up there a few times, hope your health is back on track.
Lovely wee film with stunning conditions to boot. I have canoed and camped on these islands many time in my 25 years of canoeing tripping, but sadly no longer during the nesting season. I just don't want to disturb the black throated divers while they're nesting as their numbers have declined in recent year. I believe there is now signage stating not to camp on the islands during the months of March to October. I concur with your thoughts that the islands are the most beautiful in the UK. One observation I've noted the last few years is the low number of young saplings and adolescent trees, and the increased number of dead standing. I do know that deer swim over to the islands to graze and seek warmer shelter as I've seen them do so. I do feel there needs to be greater protections for these islands. Since covid there has been massive increase in traffic with folk visiting the islands and camping on them. In one instance, a fire developed on one of the islands due to irresponsible campers lighting their fires which resulted a large area of burn forest, and a number of granny pines perished. Anyway, keep up the good work...another subscriber added.
Oh my. That all sounds very sad, especially with the fire… I didn’t see the result of it this time. One thing I did see were a few rhododendron saplings - I cut that bit out of the video because it was getting a bit long. That bothered me and I might head back in the spring with a trowel to dig them up and remove them to the mainland. They’re only in one isolated area from what I saw. Yes I read about the divers, though the information online last year said no camping between May and August I think - but I’ll look it up again. Things have changed a lot since Covid haven’t they… the best car park for paddling now costs and won’t allow overnight parking even if you’re not in your car. Shame.
Stunning footage as always Feargus. Loch Maree is a truly magnificent area and even more beautiful in the winter! Congratulations on getting through the thousand subs. It was always going to happen. Happy new year to you and your family all the best for 2025.
A lovely film Feargus. I agree totally with what you said about the sad state of affairs we are living through at the moment. Let’s hope things get better. My Uncle lived by the shore of Loch Maree in the 50s when he worked for the forestry. We have to spread his ashes on the summit of Slioch one day, he loved it so much there. You capture exactly why in your film. Thank you
Another great video Feargus, thank you. We love those islands and have been on them a few times, although yet to get to the island on a loch on an island in a loch on an island. We have also sat on that same rock on that beautiful little beach, although on a sunny summer's day. It is a truly magical place. Please keep posting and we will keep watching Keith and Jane (we met you on Melon Udrigle beach)
Epic scenery feargus, anyone with a passion for the scottish highlands is drooling over those conditions. I'll be there in april, hopefully i'll bump into you and say hi in person.
Your channel brings so much happiness and peace to people mate, it's one of my favourite on TH-cam. Ignore the trolls and you do what makes you happy. I'm heading up to Kinlochewe tomorrow from Liverpool, I'm guna spend a week in the Fisherfield, can't wait 😀
Very lovely. Thanks 😎
My pleasure 🙂
When I first saw loch Maree I was astounded by its beauty
Most beautiful place I’ve seen ❤
It’s definitely up there 🙂.

@ so true
Another great vid Fergus loch Maree is a stunning Lich ive just not been out on tge islands yet. Cheers 👍🍻
Thanks dude. It’s a must location for a visit if you can get there… though camping isn’t allowed in the summer months due to breeding birds 🙂.
@feargusc Cheers for the heads up👍
Quality content, I look forward to your videos 👍
Thank you!
Spectacular scenery in the most beautiful setting there is no where quite like it in the world. Makes me proud to be a Scotsman and that you are showcasing this wonderful place. Thank you.
Many thanks. I’m obviously not a Scotsman but I do love it here 🙂.
Imagine skating there 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
…and then falling through! Wasn’t cold for long enough by my reckoning 🙂
Hi Fergus. Absolutely beautiful, what a location for a camp and a paddle. That looked amazing. 🥶⛰🥾🛶
Cheers Dave. Best wishes 🙂
Another great video and what a beautiful part of the world to be showcasing. Please keep up the great work Feargus.
Thanks. 🙂
What a lovely combination of beatiful scenery, skilled filmmaking and interesting commentary. The algorithm took too long to send me to you; I have some catching up to do!
Aw thanks! Yes YT does seem to be promoting my videos more than before. Hope you enjoy the others 🙂.

Aw thanks Dave - and thanks for watching. With spring coming I’ll be further south once or twice so I’ll let you know if I’m around for a hike/camp 🙂.
We love this place. Loch Maree at the foot of the mighty Slioch , what a view . Need to get our arses back up there.Cheers James
Sorry I didn’t even say that was excellent as per usual, great job Feargus . Well done 👍
It’s certainly a really special spot and I can’t get enough of it… though parking is more of an issue than it used to be!
Brrr! Respect!

Thanks a million 🙂
Quite the trek just to get there in the first place ! But, sure looked worth the effort. Best wishes. 👍
Yea it was a mission with the state of the roads in that weather!

Cheers Brian. Always nice to hear when people have their own connection to these places 🙂
Fabulous video with Slioch backdrop... First climbed Slioch way back in July 1971 with three pals from school a month after we'd finished our A Levels
Lovely memories. I have similar ones from the Irish hills from the summer I came of age 🙂.

Finally catching up on your videos! Glad you didn't get swept away in a rubber dinghy this time. (Adam had that awful flu too)
Richtig schöne einsamme Landschaft und tolle Aufnahmen. Viele Grüße ronactive
Vielen Dank!

As always, Feargus, this is a stunning and inspiring film. I totally agree with you about the world at large just now-crazy times indeed!

Thanks for the comment Helen. I’m sure your father would have loved the thought of a Slioch/Loch Maree final resting place 🙂.

I’ll be about… hopefully enjoying the spring weather sans midges!
Fantastic video, looking forward to more. Just subscribed from a fellow TH-camr 😉👍
Thanks a lot Phil. I’ll have a look at your channel when I get a minute 🙂
Great video Feargus.
