Very glad to have discovered this channel - you do a great job and are a natural at taking us all with you. Always good to see a (new) TH-cam flyer especially another one here in AUS! Cheers mate and safe travels. Looking forward to your next one.
Your reviews are a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other reviewers out there. Keep up the good work. Curious, what is that cool little Mic that you use?
I flew China Airlines from Sydney to London via Taipei return earlier this year in Premium economy and was pretty impressed. Very modern and unique feeling interiors, friendly staff and a comfy seat. Interestingly, the food you were served for dinner was exactly the same as what I received except for the dessert. Even better is that I got all the flights as QF Classic Rewards flights for roughly the same points as it would have cost for the same journey in Qantas economy
FYI, love how you explained the difference between China (PRC) and Taiwan (ROC). Just letting you know that the PRC map that you used in the video (00’25”) included Taiwan and parts of the Japanese Okinawa islands, which isn’t part of the PRC, some viewers may be upset to see it. Overall, a great trip report! Enjoy your trip to Taiwan and Japan. 😊
I flew CAL in Economy twice earlier this year, I don't remember receiving much of any freebies really. But I was a SkyTeam Elite Plus passenger at that time and so I had access to both the Korean Air lounge at LAX and the CAL lounge at Taipei, which of course the food needs no introduction. Also onboard the meal service in Economy was superb. First time I'd had pao cai (those picked veggies). - Red
First of all, I love your videos Simon! Keep up the great work. You extra mile you go to give aviation context, history and knowledge is what I love. One of the very few people I can watch their videos from start to finish. Recently flew on CI58 and honestly I wouldn’t say disappointed but didn’t meet my expectations. The business cabin seems really packed and they have one of the worst IFE I have used in some time. Either that or I’ve just flown premium carriers all this time….
18:17 that is a salt-preserved duck egg that some people like to scoop out of a “hot dog-length-wise” bisection half, and crumble into the congee for more flavor. Not a universally liked thing within Taiwanese culture though
Fun fact! This route used to be operated by the other Taiwanese airline, EVA Air, but was deemed unprofitable as EVA was a private company. When they dropped the route, the flag carrier China Airlines snatched up the route and has been serving the great country of Australia ever since!
I had particular interest in this review as CI is an airline I am considering for upcoming travel. As you note, they often have decent availability for booking with QFF points, and their cash fares are good value too. Your reviews and your channel continue to go from strength to strength!
Did you book this with qantas points? how much did it cost? i have started learing about points churning and im saving my points for a trip but i have heard that if you book with classic reward business points theres a high chance they will cancel your seat, do you know if this is true??@@FlightFormula
i agree with you on wearing shorts on flights bro. just way more comfy i guess. keep up the awesome vidz bro and i hope u get sponsored bro u deserve to. ❤️🔥
Excellent review, you covered all the things most if us look for when flying…. & all with a quirky sense of fun. Curious, did they not supply you with pjs, or did I miss that bit? Look forward to seeing your next trip! 👍
I'm taking the exact same product in 3 days LOL, I've taken it a couple of times and it still doesn't get old! Hopefully I see some friends along the way!
Enjoyed watching your trip report. What's with the bathroom music? Do you recall how many bathrooms there were in business class? I have to say that was one quite flight!!! Looking forward to your Osaka trip report.
I think you should put the floss and the half boiled salted egg into the congee, btw I normally use a knife to cut the salted egg into half so that is easier to scrap it all out just like eating an Avocado
I really enjoy China Airlines for the effort they put into their business class. Good job choosing the Chinese Breakfast, it is a lot going on for sure, especially the salted egg. Hope they start flights to Perth soon. I like how you perfectly explained the PRC and RoC situation within 30 seconds. The map of RoC and PRC are pretty much identical with the exception that RoC claims Mongolia as well.
Sacrificed 320k qantas points of mine to send my parents from syd-lhr on CA. Hopefully they like it haha, looks lovely to me. Beats economy regardless.
I was hoping the crew will introduce you how to enjoy your porridge with the accompanying dishes and especially the salted duck egg. It suppose to eat with the porridge at the same time and it can be delicious too if eaten right. Hope you get to try again in your travel and eat in the correct way.
Those are the condiments of the congee. Real flavour bomb if you mix em plus the egg. CI usually offers dirt cheap airfares and generous checked bags allowance especially in economy. Flying is real good too with them! Great video!
For some reason many carriers don't offer personal air vents (cost / weight?) and Asian carriers in particular I find keep cabins quite warm which makes sleeping tough. Great review, I had no idea you could use Qantas point with China Airlines (I thought you could only use them with Oneworld carriers and their JV with Emirates, so that is good to know).
See? That Marhaba lounge ain't bad! So far it is the best lounge I've been to so far as Melbourne international (I've been to the AmEx, the House/Etihad, and QF business lounge). I plan on visiting the Qantas First lounge in Sydney next month for my JetStar flight down to Melbourne (which departs from the international terminal) and hopefully the First lounge Melbourne for my flight to Perth (which departs from the international terminal). The only other lounge I haven't tried would be the Emirates lounge at Melbourne, which as a Platinum member I have access to when flying Qantas/Emirates anywhere except the Americas and Southern Africa. As for China Airlines it does seem to be pretty good both in terms of the catering and the seat. I don't tend to use the IFE so the lacklustre selection doesn't bother me. I should also point out that you can fly not just China Airlines using Qantas Points but a number of other non-OneWorld partners, namely KLM, Air France, WestJet (Canada), El Al, Indigo, the directional Chinese airlines, Bangkok Air to name but a few. Where I could see this coming in handy would be booking something like MEL to CHC in EK F which would enable you to access the Qantas First lounge at SYD and take a shower at 40K feet since it's operated on the A380. Similarly it could be interesting to see you fly Air France business from Singapore to Paris.
"the directional Chinese airlines" hahahahahahaa. Good points about other redemptions though! I've done KLM, might have to try some of the others. The EK F option is definitely up there on the list.

Thanks and welcome mate!

Cheers! It’s the cheapest little 3.5mm microphone off Amazon! Surprisingly decent for the price but hardly amazing.
I've had the pleasure of flying with them many times and ive never been disappointed alway have attentive service well known by asian airlines
Good to hear!
I love lamp. I love lamp
Do you really love the lamp?
HE IS BACK!! love this review.
Cheers mate!

Wow interesting! Yeah some airlines seem to do biz food in premium economy.

Welp, oops.
I'm Taiwanese, I totally fine with that. It's freedom of speech.
Thank you for putting a correct map.

Good stuff
Great video. I’m doing some research into business class options for Melbourne to Europe in August. This was very informative. Thanks!
Collins aerospace Super diamond business class seats are one of my favourite business class product airlines offer

Nope, no pjs!
@@FlightFormula: That’s mean! 😢
This was such a great review of an airline I've always been curious about. Thank you!
New to your Channel, love it and CA look stunning in BClass. You are right about the North Face bag, rad colab.
Yeah I love it!
17:29 what is floss??
Most likely Pork Floss (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat_floss)
Thank you for an ultimate review. Subscribed

I want to say 2-3 but can’t remember, I actually kinda loved the bathroom music tbh.

Ahhh good stuff to know for next time! Thanks.
Love ur video man. What backpack are you using?
It’s a Lululemon one (tbh I kinda hate it, no padding and the straps suck)

11:08 absolutely true, flew q suite from Frankfurt - sydney recently and stuffed myself with food like it was my last day on this planet. 🤣
great video once again my friend! curious.. I assume you travel around for work? what do you do if you don't mind me asking.. I want that job haha
Hahaha nah not work, just travelling.
All side dishes are for the coogee I think
Cheers!

Ahh yeah! Next time!
They can certainly introduce how to eat the meal if being asked, especiallyin business class.
This is the same business class seat on Air Canada's wide-body fleet, but CI has taken it a few steps above to make it look really classy and cosy.
Yeah, pretty much all biz seats are based on like 3 different designs. This is definitely one of the classier ones I’ve seen tho!
Those are the condiments of the congee. Real flavour bomb if you mix em plus the egg. CI usually offers dirt cheap airfares and generous checked bags allowance especially in economy. Flying is real good too with them!

Good to know!
Not the diddy clip inserted 😂😂😂😂😂😂
when you showed your slippers, why didn't you remove your socks and flex on your feet?
You keep outdoing yourself with the memes and pop culture references 💯

Might be partly your editing, but damn that cabin is actually so quiet?! Also love how you just spot those elephant-ass Emirates A380s everywhere😭
It’s significantly quieter than all other planes I’ve been on.
P Diddy might have to be edited out! LOL .. Funny review, as usual.

I just booked the same route for 65k delta sky pesos 🙌
Hahaha gotta love the sky pesos
You’re cute and full of energy! I’m old so I can say that…like your grandma! Like this video! You’re quite the comedian….
Thank you so much!
Lite and Easy dinner🤣
Travelers in Asia don't know how good they have it when they fly their country's carrier.
Wait till they fly U.S. carriers, then they WILL KNOW
😂 😂 😂
Best business class?? Try Emirates and you'll understand quality..
Emirates is pretty mid tbh
I wish you'd avoid using the fish eye lens. It's visually nauseating.
Interesting take.
China airlines is owned by gov. EVA is much better. I have flown both
Big call
Think worst is CX lounge, very limited food selection, tiny and so crowded.
you are so cute
This Taiwanese airline has very bad safety record 😮
They’ve been pretty good recently!
oh please.....is had! last serious accident happened 22 years ago.
Nice video!
