I'm a 63 year old ARMY, and this song has never offended me in any way. It's a great song! If you stand in front of me and tell me that you've never had thoughts like these as a hormonal teen or a young adult, I will not believe you. If only people could see past their noses and actually look at the meaning of a song. Side Note: I wasn't ARMY when this came out, but I'd bet that all the flack came from some of the non-USA music markets, cuz here in the US, this would be considered very mild.

War of hormone is one of my favorite BTS songs and as a woman I find the mentality of some people so stupid to think that the lyrics are misogynistic, in fact every time I listen to it I feel flattered since the compliments towards women are very good . At that time the hatred towards BTS was very evident and every time they released something they would invent something stupid, for this reason people say that envy is not good, it kills the soul and poisons it. Anyway, I really like your reactions, very good, thank you very much, you entertain my days.

I'm an old woman (66) and found nothing that could offend a woman. The critics were pure hate or fear on their success!
Here in the Western musical industry the "artists" should be learn with BTS how to treat a woman 😊
There is a song they did as feminine empowerment that's called "21st century giirl"... I think you'll like it!

I am older as well, 67, and this is one of my favorite BTS songs. I tend to chalk everything up to cultural differences when I don't understand the problems some have with BTS's music. The other companies in this business certainly tried everything they could to slander BTS, so that's a valid point. I think the song is adorable, and seeing the young men in their teens is really cute.

The only part that could be taken offence to is the “women are an equation and we do them”, but like u said, that could have been a translation issue. Other than that, the whole song was super respectful. They’re literally saying women are the best and a gift. Boggles my mind how ppl say that’s misogynistic especially compared to western songs. Have you even heard the words that come out of western artists mouths? Even female artists! 🤯
But to your point, it’s probably just the haters trying to bring BTS down. BUT karma is an Army, and it was disclosed today that under the new contract BTS just renewed with Bighit, they now have individual voting rights in the company! That’s huge! This means they are recognized as actual partners of the company (not just some boy band) and now they will have a say in the company’s business decisions and direction. And that’s 7 votes! Not 1! 🥳🥳🥳

68 yr old Army here and I never understood the controversy. It’s just talking about natural things that young men go through. It’s truthful and I actually love it.
Guys, if you haven’t reacted to Jung Kook’s title track off of his first album, you are REALLY MISSING OUT! It’s his very best IMO and there are several outstanding live performances: iHeart (with live band, no backup dancers), Audacy Radio (he sings 4 or 5 songs from his album), Jimmy Fallon, M Countdown. A lot of people will suggest his impromptu live at Time Square. It is lots of fun and really good, but his live vocals are the best in the other ones I suggested. He is also having a live concert Monday (maybe Sunday depending on where you live-I haven’t done the time conversion yet). He is broadcasting it live and free for Army. I would suggest watching the mv and then one or more of the live performances.

I'll make a correction. I hear women and men in the West, also almost always older, say there's nothing wrong here. The fact is they are from Korea. And Idols are for teenagers. This song actually HAS offensive lyrics. And, it was offensive by standards of Korean culture. Korean parents said they won't let their kids listen to them. This was not a popular album in Korea. RM and BigHit took this seriously. IT LITERALLY plays a major reason they changed their image and returned with "I Need You Girl" which is the first hit that skyrocketed their career. BTS may never have been BTS if this song was not criticized (and the album in general did poorly.) They changed their style and made sure to write songs actually more empowering. And you can see how different everything they did after has been. It was the Korean fans' reaction that affected them. Not the industry. And that's the audience that matters most for them.

Hey guys....thanks for your reactions. I love these guys. And the high honest young energy of this song.
I've been through the women's movement as a scientist at NASA in the early 80's where it was so very difficult at the time re:women in a male dominated field. The only line I 'flinch' at is 'girls are equations, guy's just do them'....but from my understanding of past posts by army, perhaps that is a mistranslation. I could see if they were talking about 'trying to figure out women.' If they are talking about something more explicit...well...that feels demeaning. That being said, I'm with you. I cannot watch current day US/Western artists in how demeaning songs have become overall for everyone. And I totally do not understand Jungkook in his current choices with lewd western rappers in his recent songs esp 3D/Jack Harlows part and even Seven Latto's Part. Sigh. I certainly hope BTS does not continue in that direction. This is what has set BTS apart in a big way over the years...their values. I hope they don't get tainted by the industry. Perhaps Army can shed more light on this. Thanks again. Have an awesome day!

All I know about the people criticizing the song is that they have not experienced a real teenage life 😂 and wt that time they just wanted to point out something that will be considered as anti psychological aspects. They dont realize how a song without having any explicit lyrics will approach the public with positive vibes. The public were very slow witted and short sighted about what BTS wanted to say and the public misunderstood it and began to criticize while talking shit wbout BTS. The title itself says War of Harmones which in my opinion means the hormones in one's body battling with its emotions seeking the real feelings that a boy experience when he is interested in a girl without any bad intention. It is a matter of common sense that at teenage, every boy and girl experience some changes in hormones which inturn changes the personality in various aspects and it is a natural phenomenon.

I think something to point out is the translations make the song sound worse then what the lyrics really are. (Although the lyrics aren’t bad at all) One of the lines they translated “I just want to do them”, however while do is one way to translate it, it isn’t very accurate when putting the context of what they are talking about and the meaning of the word that they used in Korean. The word they used for “do” in Korean has a mathematical meaning to it so it is more suppose to be about how they are try to figure girls out because they are confusing. Anyway this is just something I think it important to note…(sorry I am not the best at explaining)…
The song is so good and not offensive and all. Just haters hating and bad translations too.

Technically, I suppose the lyrics to "objectify" women a bit (referring to them as a gift and so on), and the first time I heard it I did a small double take on the bit about women being equations and men "doing them" - because it was a bit "crude" compared to the later BTS lyrics I had gotten used to.
But I also realized that my 40-something mind from a very outspoken background probably had me read a LOT more into these lyrics than the boys meant to put there.
I have a feeling RM was referring to "solving the mystery that is woman" rather than - you know - "doing" them. 😆
Either way, the lyrics are STILL incredibly tasteful and sweet compared to so many Western artists speaking about women that I - as a 47-year-old feminist - find nothing worth quibbling about in this fun little bop.
I giggle every time JK - who was 16 in Western age when they released the song (although he had turned 17 when they released the MV) - says he's a man of 18 who "knows all that stuff". 🤭

Most, if not all of them, have never been linked to or dated anyone. All these guys/men are old enough to date. I hope the Korean media will be kind to them when they find love. There is nothing wrong with this song. It's an honest innocent song. When I was younger it was normal to give a compliment and we women appreciate it. We also knew when it was a compliment or something else. You knew intuitive when you had to be on guard. The head turning is the best compliment you could get. Nowadays everything is bad. It's like they can't read a person(s) anymore and their intuition is totally ruined. But to be fair and it's my opnion, they just want to nag because it's fun to nag and to put others down and cause trouble.
The song is an honest story what tells you how young boys/men can have a innocent war or hormones because they became, in this case, aware of the opposite sex and their attraction . The naggers forget young girls/women experience the same thing, the same war of hormones.
Luckely we had it easy in the early days. I pity the ones who has nothing else to do then to hold on to every thing. They totally forget to enjoy life. Good song, good lyrics and loved the music video.

if people only open up about taboo topics totalk to youth about all that adults think children should not be exposed too the youth will grow to be respectful individuals that dont soil others reputations in arrogance or oblivion. Its so imp to know about what puberty brings and how do you not let it effect your actions and mannerism. I HAVE HUGE RESPECTfor this song cos even though im 20 i didntreally have any exposure to what male puberty entails for my male aquaintances around me. this song really made me reallise that puberty for men and women is diff and even though the song is not mysoginistic it draws aline so i know that anything along these lines is infatuation and attraction but anything more extreme is not normal.
i hv a younger brother and since he is sixteen i feel like exposure to such open upfront songs of BTS is really helpful to someone of the same age group or maybe age range these guys were in during this song ......objectifying women and men is so common in some countries and so not common in others that people forget the middle ground. That there stillis a way to think men are handsome or a women is beautiful without it disrespecting the other and without any sexual innuedos. knowing for a fact that love is not just attraction but attraction does help you approach the person and get to know them.

The math translation is really poor. It’s more along the lines of women are like a difficult equation you must work hard to understand what they are thinking and what they want. Also look at boy with love which they wrote to depict a more mature understanding of loving someone . I am 69 and have been a feminist for 59 years. There is nothing wrong with theses lyrics. They are an accurate representation of how young men feel at that age. I also asked my daughter if she would be upset if someone compared her beauty to the deep blue sea. Guess what her answer was. Ps. I think Jin was coasting on the bike so he wouldn’t get too close to the camera.

I'm a female physician and I don't find this remotely offensive (and I tend to be pretty PC.) The only potentially vulgar thing is at 3:56 of your video (or 1:32 of the actual BTS clip) where V jumps off to the right and looks like he's possibly squeezing invisible boobs 🤣, but even that's a reach.
As far as Jin's bike being dragged, pretty sure it isn't. Look at the spokes of the wheel--you can see the tire is spinning. It's a video glitch, where if the speed of rotation of the tire lines up with the frame rate of the camera, it makes it look static. It's the same phenomenon that can make car tires look like they're spinning backwards in video or in movies.

You don't need an anticompetitive music industry when you have overly invested fandoms to spew vile innuendo and aspirations. Social media attacks in music or otherwise involve people getting excitement by piling on to manufacture hate filled destructive actions. Legitimacy is not overly important. Given the demographic composition of 2015 Korean Idol music fans, words like misogyny easily could and did snowball. So yes corporate practices were crappy but I do not think this slander campaign got its momentum in a corporate boardroom. Hard to say somethings but this one is silently screaming underneath what most people would be comfortable admitting.
