There legit are plays in APF2K8 where if not for the graphics you could be fooled into thinking it's a real game. Like from a distance where you couldn't see the graphics being old, the animations and transitions were so smooth for the most part that you'd get some plays where it genuinely just looked like a replay from an actual game. The guys who made the 2K football games were serious football fans and genuinely put a ton of effort into the way it looked, felt and played.

Ryan, you are correct about the game. It's not a different game than Madden. EA used/gave content creators early access to get folks excited. I do get frustrated with the BS, but folks are happy with mediocrity and have accepted the fact that we are slaves to consumerism. I wish I could say your constructive criticism will change EA, but sadly without competition there will be no progress. I play knowing these things, and have some fun moments. Anyways, thank you for spitting the truth when many won't.

@@CheffSteph I’ve played enough 14 to cheese the game, go undefeated every season, no matter what, this game poses new challenges. I understand that we should expect more out of major studios. I think Ryan makes good content but something that bugs me sometimes is the lack of good gameplay. If you’re going to show us the bad of a game, show us the good. I literally was in the hurry up and this LB was just A posing until I hiked the ball. It’s funny, breaks the immersion, sure. If you look for the bad, that’s what you’ll find. Old games may have better gameplay or game logic, but they’re not perfect either.

After playing, offense is fine. But playing defense is HORRENDOUS. Run by someone an inch and the tackle animation does not trigger.
It’s also classically buggy upon release.
And attempting to fix the bugs will cause some truly monumental clusterf***ery later this month 😂 remember that time they broke kickoffs in Madden by making a house appear at the 50yd line or whatever tf? Cause of goddamn SpongeBob or Rugrats or some 💩 lol

After playing a few games in RTG as a middle linebacker I learned you have to use the correct tackle for the position you’re in. If you try to hit stick out of position, you’re going to miss badly. If you dive too close you have a 50/50. Wrapping up is your best option. Like real life

If EA cared about producing the best football game possible, they wouldn't need the licensing monopoly. I was around in a time where there was Madden, Gameday and 2K football games. Madden was an afterthought for years. Their garbage animations are laughable, the franchise mode is a joke. Keep bringing us this content, the licensing monopoly alone is evil and should be continuously exposed.

@HunchoTooClean I was there, and they absolutely were not. There was competition in abundance. Madden was GOOD then, but they began falling off rapidly after they acquired the exclusive Madden license. Competition forced them to actually put out good games. Without it, the majority of their games have gone to shit.
@@atlien1988 Gameday and 2k were absolutely much much better games even before the monopoly. You can use the basketball games as a reference as well. EA basketball game vanished for 2k because EA didn't own the licensing monopoly and 2k simply created a much better game.

From what I've heard EA isn't running any "monopoly". The NFL only wanted 1 company to market and make their simulated football games for a huge price. Only EA accepted their offer due to 2K & others couldn't afford or didn't want to pay that high price.

The gameplay has absolutely not been the problem. The gameplay is easily the best of any football game ever, but the simulation is very lacking. The gameplay is not perfect, but is definitely my favorite yet.

People will continue to pretend it's a completely different game when it is literally the same game underneath with a few tweaks and better features. NCAA has always been that. Players are still turning on a dime, skating around on grass, have animation based tackling, poor physics or lack thereof, poor lineplay, etc etc. EA has given us 20 years of bad football video games.
The old college football games were absolutely nothing like the Madden games. They were far superior.

even the camera angles are copy and paste, they didnt even give us a custom camera angle to customize to our liking, like on the ps2 for nfl 2k5 had it ..and your telling me that a more powerful console like ps5 they couldnt give us more camera angle options?....EA is so trash

This game is so good, but it is still rough around the edges. It is weird because it has been in development for 4 years. It needs some patches. It is too inconsistent with blocking and coverage. I think it is super fun, but in some moments it is worse than madden. Dynasty and RTG is amazing tho I have played both

@@dallas768 I mean when you factor in wear and tear, composure and skill level + stamina depending on the situation ratings may drop so sometimes blocking and coverage will be lacking that’s the realism in it every play your lineman is not going to to pick up the block and there will be a lot of blown coverages as there are in real life or sometimes a player is just better than another player the parity in cfb is way different than the nfl and this game replicates just that

@RyanMoody21 the game is smoother by a whole lot. The animations way for fluent and mak sense. It doesn't feel like it's spinning a wheel to see what animation I get and it feels like more things lead to other things. The passing is better. Like I said, anyone who plays the game can tell immediately that it plays way differently and better than Madden. I'm not saying the game doesn't have flaws because it most definitely does, but to pretend like it's even comparable to the garbage we've been given over the past decade is crazy
It's not perfect (I don't think anyone ever thought it would be) but most people are really enjoying it, way more so than Madden, and that's all that really matters with the first college football game in 11 years

the issue with this kind of content is that is presented as if he is just an objective observer, but he is not. this is not an unbiased friend trying to “save you money”. this is a youtuber who decided that going all in on negativity is the way he is going to get clicks.
an objective observer, even if they ultimately decided the game was ass, would show you at least some of the things the game does well, with a focus on the things the game fails at. but EVERY SINGLE CLIP is cherrypicked to show you something terrible. we can’t show you the positive, because you purposely picked and highlight everything that is negative about the game. it’s like a magician’s illusion, you point our focus on what you want us to see, so then it’s hard to see anything else.

if you really wanna know how the game is, PLAY IT YOURSELF. EA Play has a free trial and that give you 10 hours to play the game.
I haven't regretted my purchase at all. for the first time in years, I'm ENJOYING a football game. it's not perfect, but if you're looking for perfection, play football in real life. because, I hate to break it to ya, 2K stans, but 2K5 and 2K8 are flawed too.
I can deal with a few gameplay quirks when the depth of dynasty is THIS good. and the attention to detail is this amazing in the stadiums and atmosphere
I want to point out that I am playing a 2 player dynasty mode and we have to use 1 controller and switch back and forth because you have to go to the settings and change "Dynasty Owners" every time you need to manage a different team

Like the majority of us knew it's just Madden but it plays smoother 😂. All I can say is at least they're actually trying better than the Madden team. At this point though its never gonna change unless they change their engine which they won't no time soon.

Until they get rid of frostbite, gameplay will be subpar to trash. Roydell Williams fumbled 3 times in the 4th qtr in my first dynasty game. I’m playing on All-American and apparently GT has the best defensive backs in college football.

Yeah I have already had a couple of those plays where I was like really….. pursuit angles are still bad also. All of the logic that happens on the C gaps is screwed up.
I'll be honest. You're being negative. They did exactly what they needed to do with this game and that was make it fun. The recruiting is phenomenal. The passing is easily the best it's ever been in Madden or ncaa. The blocking is never great in these games but it's better than it was in ncaa 14.

2k5 only sold 1.7 million copies into standards that’s a flop and for context madden 05 sold 6.1 million
it probably takes the state of ohio for a fighter jet to make a u-turn and it feels the same way controlling the players. it's kind of janky.
Dynasty mode has so many little mistakes that you can tell that it wasn't actually the focus like they told us. The position tracking is so poor to the point where it's hard to tell who to recruit, and athletes are designated a position of Kick Returner. I had 15 guys transfer out so I'm going to guess the transfer system is broken. This game isn't finished.

Havent played a football game in years. But the tackling is bad. Every tackle is just them running into eachother and the ball carrier goes down. I have yet to see a defender wrap up. Thats how majority just about all tackles in football are made.
I think the biggest mistake EA made besides tackling, pursuit, catching, stadium construction, blocking, too confusing passing mechanics, horribly beasted up computer players on varsity, all American or hiesman! Is that they didn’t bring back any of the original developers from the franchise! Big mistake!

You know, everyone would talk about how they were glad that NCAA sports games weren't beaten into the dust by EA and that 14 was the last one and was an amazing end to this run of games. Until they saw the deep dive on dynasty mode. I thought the recruiting seemed great and I was actually somewhat excited but definetly gonna wait and see because I really had something gnawing at me watching the actual football gameplay. I think it was that familiar feeling of complete bullshit I got from Madden 19/20 which were the last ones I ever played. The physics just didn't look right to me, even the way they all run looks wrong. Idk I'd like to hope they fix it eventually but I doubt it.
The player models are horrendous, the running looks like Forrest Gump style running on almost every character. You can be at full speed and stop on a dime because someone hits you in the back. The gameplay is not great. The passing feels better but that's about it. The dynasty mode and recruiting is a blast and that's about all I got it for.

I go to Oregon and our entrance in the game is not our entrance. They don’t have the cheerleaders who run out with flags that spell ducks when the mascot rides out on the motorcycle. Our cheerleaders outfits look nothing like the ones they have on in the game. And you can clearly see that it’s not even the whole team that runs out. It looks like 8-10 players. And when you change the uniforms for example to our eggshell (white and dark green with chrome helmets) unis, there’s players wearing bright green and/or yellow accessories 😒

You were absolutely right in majority of your videos. The real question I've always wanted to know is what do you want US to do? When I say US I am referring to the people that are okay with playing 2K games, old ncaa games. Old maddens. Honestly I do feel like it is a losing battle trying to argue with a young person between the ages of 8 to 15. Hey, pay no attention to how the graphics look in 2k5, just admire the gameplay.They're gonna look at me upside down. And I'm not a father yet, but for the fathers that are on this page. If they're okay with telling they're 8 to 15-year-old child. Hey, I'm not getting you this game, because the gameplay and AI Logic is horrible. You need to play 2K5 or you need to play the old ncaa. More kudos to you. I will say this, I am Fully on board with EA not having the license to make a simulation football game anymore. So if another company comes across cool but it's gonna take TIME. We just can't sit here and act like for years we've haven't giving EA money for all the games. Our kids are going to want the most updated version of something and not something that we grew up playing. And yes, we are in control of the money for anyone thinking that lol. Overall, I do like most if you're videos Ryan 💪🏾💪🏾

Postives: Presentation is better then Madden, Gameplay is faster, and feels like a college football game, Band plays, Chants
To everyone who hasn’t played it yet I promise you it’s not Madden at least not gameplay wise. Is it perfect? No! Don’t go into it expecting perfection but it’s honestly fast paced and fun. That being said I do have my gripes with the game. .
Not being able to change jersey numbers in dynasty is truly insane. I’d rather not be able to change a players name then his jersey number. This feels like one of those things EA does to bate you into buying next years version.
Not having enough customization with our coaches. You can’t sculpt their heads, change facial hair, or hair color/style if we can do it in RTG why not dynasty? There are over 300 models to pick from but come on EA let me create my coach. No hats or visors? Wtf? I feel like over half of real coaches wear some type of hat. All I can change is his shirt?
No job security tab where I can see what coaches around the nation are on the hot seat. I can only see if my jobs safe?
It’s a fun game and worth buying but in typical EA fashion there are some true head scratching features they didn’t bring back.

EA could have got me to go buy a Playstation 5 if college football was half what it could be. It looks like madden, plays like madden & looks like madden. I haven't had a game system since ps2. They blew it. EA is an example of corp america in a nutshell.
I tried telling people this was exactly what was going to happen and then it did. EA was never going to do anything different than they’ve always done. Copy and paste. Copy pasta. Always. Because they know we’ll still buy it because they have a monopoly.
The presentation is also rushed and goes to fast like madden and most of it is at the top left of the screen
Forreal they sold us on "every team is someone's favorite team" the fucking entrance for UK is a guy beating a drum and the running on the field is copy paste from every other team.
You know at first I enjoyed Ryan's take on Madden ....but over the years he could care less about Madden getting better .....part of his livelihood is tied to Madden being bad. No video game will be a 1 to 1 simulation....if Ryan had experience as a programmer or developer I would actually respect his knit picking.....I honestly wish guys like him would respect us who played these games...he's the guy who tells little kids there is no Santa and the tooth fairy is your mom. If you slowed down every game you see problems. I honestly could care less about Ryan's opinion.....but I will comment. WR drops every pass when hit. Doesnt matter the skill numbers. Literally injured EVERY game the last 5. When suddenly he drops passes while wide open. Not to mention the glitchy graphics. This is awful. Geez, There is nothing about the mechanics that feels good. This is rushed busted shit
Being honest, one game in and I’m not really impressed. The gameplay is not great. Pass defense is absolutely brainless. And not having a custom camera is beyond ridiculous.

All pro 2k8 and nfl 2k5 STILL have smoother AI mechanics than EA in 2024! This is disappointing because I don’t think they care or know how to play football. The AI logic is baaaaddd. Man they are stealing from us

My guy, nobody is calling for a perfect game. You EA apologists say the same catch phrase. Calling out inconsistencies does not mean we expect perfection. It’s how games get better over time by being aware of what can be fixed.
