I had the pleasure of performing this piece in college in 1987 and again with a DC based large ensemble in 2002. The entire work is lovely and a real test of everyone’s intonation. The key change at the end is something you never want to end. By far one of my favorite pieces (of about 1200 performed thus far).
Absolutely phenomenal. And it's incredible that the choir sings this difficult 16 minute piece so perfectly from memory. And the soloist! Just beautiful!
One of the hardest pieces I ever had the pleasure of performing - circa 1988 at TCU . And this choir did a FANTASTIC job, wow~ . The key changes were impressive, so solid!
I performed this piece in a choir in high school - it was a condensed version with a soloist only at the start. I always remembered this piece but differently...it is a magnificent performance. Amazing soloist and choir. Incredible that it is an all a capella piece.
I can only marvel at this pitch perfect, beautifully executed interpretation. Truly inspired. It is such a difficult piece to do well. Here you take Copland's music on the page and cast it shimmering and glorious into the void. Congratulations, and kudos to the wonderful Dr. Holly Janz.
This is just amazing!!! We (Tonbridge Philharmonic) are performing this on March 24th 2018 at Tonbridge School Chapel and, in a different view of performance, we are doing it with just 24 singers Wish us well

Where did you perform this in ‘87? Was it in St. Joseph, MO?
@@robertwimer thanks for asking! I went to West Virginia University, and our tour stops that year were in State College, PA and the NYC area.

Spectacular performance of this piece. The audience should have given them a standing ovation!
Loof Lirpa the audience stood at the end of the concert. This was the beginning of the second half.

This is a quite excellent performance. I particularly appreciated the intonation of the soloist and really the whole choir.

Wonderful! I performed it with the Stonewall Chorale, conducted by Nancy Vang. It's a magnificent piece, very difficult to perform.
Beautyfull! Excellent performance, intonation is unbelevable good for a live performance! Congrats!

By the time you get to 12:11 or so, you wish this song will go on forever.
I just found this tonight working the overnight, and I agree totally. Glad I am alone to wipe the tears away!
