      Oh no. Yeah, repairs on the road are super stressful. I have another video where I recorded myself making an emergency roadside repair. Wishing you happy, safe, and uneventful travels! th-cam.com/video/9HqmFZK0qqA/w-d-xo.html

      I think it took me longer than a 21 year old gamer, that's for sure! If you are comfortable with joysticks from video games then you'll do just fine. Start in a big open field with no power lines or light poles and keep working your way up. Have someone inspect your frame at your axles for cracked suspension parts and possible broken frame in the cargo bay to the goose neck area . A fairly quick inspection will do it .

      @@LizAmazing Our Travel Trailer was 10 years old when I found the videos on frame failures on TH-cam. We have had it for 5 years now . We use it on a vacation basis , so it doesnt have a lot of use. People who are full time move often and really pur a lot of wear on their units. I found 3 cross braces that pushed through / cracked my I beam trying to push through. and 3 places the cross brace welds held but ripped out of the bottom portion of the beam. All of these splits were spider cracks . My I beams took a set and were leaning which leads to failure . Yes its a bid steel frame , made out of brittle thin metal. And Bighorns / Grand design leads the bunch in basement to Goose-neck breaks in the same exact place. So you fit in that crucial group to watch.

    Howdy Ms. Amazing. It's January 2020 and the RV industry is flying high. Cut throat price wars with supply and demand speculation drives this industry to new levels of advertising.
    How to be positive of the industry when the WOW Factor is promoted so heavily. Not a problem until the unit starts to fall apart literally. I bought a 2015 Palomino Columbus model 320RS new 5 years ago. Why? I lost our house in 2010 officially (previous 15 month process) and floated thru apartments until I couldn't take it anymore. Had to retire in 2011 with disability, unable to work, luckily had a pension plus Social security I desided to pack up the cats and hit the road in this rolling condo.
    What sold me on this model was the complete wow factor, usable in all regards slides in, and a cavernous open space opened up, (cats love it). The cherry woodwork installed by Amish laborers, residential 21cu/ft fridge, everything was just like being in a house. Bingo! This is it. The salesperson recommended joining the Columbus RV group on Facebook for community commradery and tips of repair and maintenance. 3 years in the group I've learned the most disturbing issues that lay under the wow. Way too numerous to go into but the #1 factor for failure is miles on the road. Hands down. You were luck to not have a tire blow out (China bombs). We are basically a trusting society, in a reactive mindset. That's what the industry wants us to be. People will swear by their brand without weaver but to be competitive they are all the same manufacturing prossess.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you have to be careful when buying. And I've heard about those tires. I sometimes wonder how long my 2020 will hold up.

    Liz, please have paul looky at repair invoice from SD trip and explain which part failed and why. Its a Gearhead thing and you are now with a Gearhead!! Thank you!!

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol! He beat you to it. Paul says it snapped a shearpin and it happened again when we got together. The fix was to draw a line on the landing jack legs to stop before it got to the top. Otherwise the torque would snap the pin. Since it takes one to know one you must be a gearhead!!!

    Liz - the most amazing part of this is the time and effort you put into picking a truck and trailer but I haven't seen you share any of that other than you picked the Nissan first and took it back. I'd be very interested to know why you picked the 5th wheel and model you got--did you pick solely on cargo capacity? Also, how did you prepare to drive and handle maneuvering that trailer into the campground @ 7:19?

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ConnieMacks I’ll for sure plan to do a video about that and why - after owning 6 campers I chose this one. Lots of good reasons, the biggest is that this type of hitch is super easy for a solo traveler. Stay tuned and I’ll go into more detail on a future video!

    Don't RV without a 4 ton bottle jack and the ability to use it. Along with enough blocks to hold up at least two corners of your trailer. You could have chocked your wheels then used to bottle jack to raise the front two corners up enough to unhook. I've watched a few of your vids I think you are an accident just waiting to happen.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol! Thanks for the support and vote of confidence! A bottle jack would not work unless I built a platform under both landing jacks and then I would need two bottle jacks.

    • @petepeterson7230
      @petepeterson7230 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LizAmazing Huh? One side at a time on the frame. You don't have to be next to the jacks. Don't make it complicated.
