Great carp! Nice set-up! I'm currently working on my "Euro-Setup". It consist of 2 Shimano Baitrunners 4500, 2 Predator Rods, 2 Delkim Alarms, on a Stalker Pod from Fox. Keep those vids coming.
I live in Michigan, carp are easy to catch this big, especially in Alpena, Michigan..there are things called channel roads where people park their boats behind their houses.. If you fish there, let your bait sink to the bottom (bottom feeders) you will catch them all day long.
Nice carp you guys!!! I just started carp fishing and it has to be the best kind of fishing besides saltwater that there is. Are there any Smallmouth Buffalo where you are fishing?
yeah in Squaw bay, the waters recided and they all grew and multiplied..people snag them for fun, the suckers are really bad too in the ditches and cat fish..Most of the carp that big usually die and kids throw them in the streets..
I love my carp fishing, been doing it for about 4 years now. My Personal best is 25"lb common carp. I'm a member of a syndicate lake in Southend which has a small carp lake, big carp lake, match lake and a catfish lake. Nice video m8, good choice of music, who was it by?
Bighead and silvercarps are most escencialy filter feeders,I live in Brazil, and here we catch them using the sweetest chum possible with a special hook...lol
carp is medicine in korea. make good hot carp soup.once plenty of them, now numbers down due to pollution.right after giving birth to a baby a mother drink the broth of carp (boil whole carp with gut in it, with scale on it 3 hrs )she have no after birth bone problem or losing before birth good health.
Use 10-12 pound test and go easy on the drag if you're a beginner. I once reeled in a 15 pound carp on 4 pound test so it really just depends how well you know the limits of your equipment.
do these taste good? there are SOO many of these in the local reservoir where I fish. They are all about similar size as the ones in this vid. They swim by about 20 at a time.
we can go fishing saltwater and catch...carp..redfin, trout, and further up rivers we can get bream..or we can go saltwater fishing and be exposed to a range of fish..we can catch snapper, gummy shark, flathead, whiting, in our bay..sometimes even yellowtail kingfish..pound for pound which would have to be one of the most hard fighting fish in the ocean..or we can go offshore fishing for mako, blue, threasher sharks...fishing doesnt get much better than here my friend!
carp are not filter feeders in the truest sense! They forage in mud for crayfish, hex nymphs and other aquatic insects! WE flyfish for them in lake michigan and we get them primarily on hex nymph immitations!
The grass carp is fished in here corn or some kinds of grasses that are most atractive to the fish, but it takes a "lil" time to you learn how to tie and when use the grass to catch grass carps and tilapia...
@sebsignedup There are 3 species of Asian carp and 2 are filter feeders - which means they have no stomachs and therefore don't eat in the normal way - therefore you cannot catch them on a rod & reel. Netting or bow fishing are the only way to catch them. If the 2 filter fishing species come to dominate your area you might as well throw away your rod & reel as your fishing days will be over.
@CaneFu I was talking more in regards to average bodies of water and not circumstances like your river. I actually have seen those videos before and I understand what you're saying. Also, like I said before, I know how Asian carp are not native and cause issues, and I have no problem with taking whatever measures necessary to prevent their spread to the great lakes.
or..as i mentioned in an earlier comment...travel 4 hours by car to Portland and catch tuna at certain times of the year, ranging from 15kg to atleast the victorian record of 126kg which was caught at portland earlier this year..fish have even been lost to 200kg!
you can keep them and eat them, but true fishermen preserve the sport of fishing and catch and release whenever possible. Catch a fish and take the photo home, all that is needed.
@c0ncept Actually carp DO make the water murky by churning up the silt on the bottom all day long - do the research. This also blocks out the sunlight and kills the algae in the water, thereby killing off many species of other fish. However, I have accepted this fact 45 years ago and became a carp fisherman and have enjoyed catching them on the Illinois river ever since. I also DON'T kill them but release them afterward. Carp grow huge and are hard fighters and I enjoy catching them.
@c0ncept If by "average bodies of water" you are referring to something smaller than the Illinois river such as lakes or ponds - why would you think that carp would do less damage to these areas? The smaller the body of water, the quicker the carp could overpopulate and damage it.
Most americans that post things of this type are just young, boys going through a phase. I would like to add that in the US carp are considered a "rough" fish and are rarely fished for specifically. Not to mention that the southern united states has an invaseive carp species from asia that doesn't help their popularity much. Canada is next so if you want to take your northern fishing trip, no time like the present.
@c0ncept I live right by the Illinois river & if you did too you would understand. There ARE ridiculous amounts of huge carp in our river - tens of millions as they have no predators here. Many of these are also the Asian carp filter feeder variety & you can't find any algae in our river anywhere. Watch the videos here of the massive amounts of flying carp when a boat goes by & you will see how overpopulated they have become. Carp quickly outgrow all other species & destroy natural resources.
Carp have been introduced into the ecosystem of Australias biggest river 'The Murray River' and when you catch them it is illegal to throw them back! Too boney but I here the Jews love them...
@c0ncept I just researched the stats for the number of carp in our river and the estimate is 8,000 large adult carp per mile of river. Get the picture now of how they overpopulate and push out other species of fish?
Europeans miss the point with carp because carp have been running wild in europe so long (since the middle ages) that they made all the native species extinct. you don't know any better, but carp are a big reason why every river in europe is a deep, muddy brown. Here in the US we have species that are agressive, excellent food sources and don't turn the water muddy by rooting up the bottom and destroying all the plant life.
on that subject the 'hanger'is right. the way the spaniards french and english treated the north and south american natives is absolutely abomnible, but we are off topic here. i propose that any one in the world that throws a carp on a bank to die should himself be held under water for the same length of time.
lol carp can live out of the water alot longer than you think. You have more than enough time to do photos and pose etc with it. They have a Mat you can sleep on, they stand in the bloody water holding it so if it were to jump about it cant come to any harm, what the hell else do you want. Can they use a hook? or you gonna moan about that now as well.
@CaneFu I agreed with you and I was hoping that was enough. As an angler of around 15 years, I've fished quite a few lakes and rivers in the WV, KY, and OH region and never seen carp pushing out other species. I may catch an occasional carp, and I've never even seen an Asian carp here. I'm not sure what your objective is here - kill all carp no matter the species? I believe that if the carp is native then it should be left alone. As I already said, Asian carp are another issue.
Very cool vid : ) But please! Can the U.S. folks stop ranting that we "must kill the motherf*er" or "Bash his head with a stone". Over here in Europe, carp didn't turn out to be the pest that they are at your place. When u give em a chance you'll notice that they are quick learning and hard fighting fish, but i guess you didn't have the chance to experience that, since you use arrows for "bait" that is...
I've never fished carp so big!!!!! They are huge!!!! Thanks for the video, the song is quiet nice.

we use .44 magnum revolvers for carp.
here in Massachusetts we beat these things with big bark clubs till they look like HellRaiser
i know linerface,he was a dedicated carp angler,he did a year on wraysbury, only caught tench,no big carp,he is now a shadow of his former self.
i bet it takes liek an hour to land them :D
you can keep them and eat them, but true fishermen preserve the sport of fishing and catch and release whenever possible. Catch a fish and take the photo home, all that is needed.
Lovely ! - check out "Back of The Landing Net" episode 12 too for carp fishing

catching carp is like pulling in logs. they dont fight
@c0ncept

I wish I could catch carps that size, but I live in Texas.
atleast 20-30 pounds cause they get pretty heavy

Well , these are European carp not Asian! I didn't see any Asian carp in this video! Big heads and silvers are different.
