Nothing like getting your ass kicked on a work boat. Kinda like being a Marine grunt most people will never experience an ass kicking like that. I've experienced both. I think sea sickness takes the win though
Looks fun man, makes me miss fishing before I got on the tugs. Except we never had net reel, pulled it all by hand, wasn’t fun when we had a full net of sharks 😂

Nice walkthrough bud, brought back some memories! I can’t wait until next year. Do you by chance have any footage of end of the season, or of the anny joy at all? 😬
It's pretty simple: Do as your told and you'll be fine. You may want knee pads. I know a few guys that do this and they wear them. And be careful around the drum
Damn y’all use an insanely long tow line. Can’t say I’m a fan of the picking tool. Only known dorks to use them but to each their own. Much faster and better for your net to be an elite picker not just cutting your net up with those.
Hey so are commercial salmon caught before they spawn? I’m asking cause I read an article that said they are caught after but they also rot after they spawn.
Definitely not, your gonna want to spend 400-600k for a good boat that’s worth it. You could buy a shore or a curry for about 200-300k but they are small and won’t hold a crew of 3-4 with ought someone fighting for space.
@@alexnotsmith9633 Fair enough, with the salmon fishing season being chopped down do you think it would still be relatively easy to get a positive return on investment after a few years? How long do you think it would take to recover the cost of a boat like that and start making money?
@@alexnotsmith9633 you’re a dork lmao. Easily worth the investment. There’s no fight for space. It’s a seniority thing anyway. And if you can’t handle not having the best space then you ain’t gonna handle this job anyway. Lot worse things in this job than not having the best bunk space.
You have to be in it for the long haul if you want to make money. You’re gonna start dirt poor with a crap boat and it ain’t gonna be pretty. The first time you load it up you’ll be hooked and the next thing you know you’ll be looking for a bigger boat🤣. It’s fishing not catching so you better have some other good income outside of the season to pay for your 180k permit plus boat and insurance and other costs. I’m glad I’m a deckhand and I don’t have my own op. We put in 200k a year on average. Good luck!
🤣😂😂🤣…400 to 600 k 🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂…. That’s just the boat and permit… A decent boat at that not top of the line…. Then you gotta throw in insurance fuel oil hydraulic fluid, Storage maintenance licensing registration, I haven’t even got in to outfitting the boat with gear….. Buddy if you got four to $600,000 to spend, I suggest you just keep doing whatever it is you’re doing. Mark Twain sad, there is no greater joy than working on in or around a boat. That’s a quote from Mark Twain. IT SAYS NOTHING ABOUT OWNING A BOAT. Think about that.
I’m not sure 🤔 if I would want to name my Tender Deception if I was a Buyer or Tender I would want it to say Honor or Trusty or anything besides Deception but I’m not judging it’s just sorta Ironic? In a way. 😏🖖🏼🇺🇸🤙🏼
Finally, no music. Good to hear them chit chat
Livng life to the fullest! Long n good health to you brother!

Yeah man message me on Instagram and I can send you some photos!
that was gold!
Hi, when the sockeye season will start in naknek ?
June and July!
hey Jake, are you up for salmon fishing in January?
Nope its only June and July
I'm headed to Bristol here soon for my first season! Any inside advice you have for a first year guy!?
It's pretty simple: Do as your told and you'll be fine. You may want knee pads. I know a few guys that do this and they wear them. And be careful around the drum
And be carful about the anchor. My dads friends deckhand got his hand chopped off. Nasty thing
Thanks for the video, this looked sick! I'm trying to decide if I want to go and work in Bristol Bay this summer. Would you say it's worth it?
I think its worth it. there is a ton of work up there and depending on what you do it will be the hardest and most rewarding thing you ever do!
Sorry, you're not allowed to fishing tokiak yet until July 27th.
I. Want to now more about fishing

What up dude nice video- I’m on the MAMMOTH 🦣
Oh yea that shitty jet boat?
Hey so are commercial salmon caught before they spawn? I’m asking cause I read an article that said they are caught after but they also rot after they spawn.
yes they ae! they spawn in the rivers and we catch them when they are still in the ocean
How do you get involved in this ? No experience
It can be tough. Best bet is probably going to Bristol bay and walking through the boat yards!
I wanna run my own boat with a small crew. What are the steps in doing this from not having a boat.
get a boat.
You’re better off becoming a bridge builder at this point.
Great video. I'm thinking about buying a fishing boat myself. With your experience do you think it's worth the 200k-400k investment?

How do you apply
Nice boat too bad it’s only .50 a pound this year

The guy who owns the Deception is also part owner of the F/V Cornelia Marie.
So cool! I also want to work! Can I get a job with you, friends?
Hi.
Hi. My. Brother

32 is the limit for Bristol Bay
