- "It sounds like what it is, heads-up" Street cars racing whatever VW engine combo they want; turbos, nitrous, etc. These drag racers had to drive from the hotel in Vegas to the track, so trailer queens were out. Other rules included minimum 1700lbs. with driver, both front seats in, cars licensed and insured, muffler, full working lights, and no wheelie bars.

That blue Chop Top bug I saw that before at Sacramento bugorama and I believe it had a aircraft engine!

lifelong VW fan here, but they seem to be better 1/8 mile racers vs 1/4, first 2 gears seem great till then use 3rd and 4th?

darkh0st the gray oval belonged to mike scott, and it looked just as good as it ran... full-on show car quality, running 9's at 140+ mph.

Robert Self i have not seen it for sale, but i haven't looked either, fwiw... the h.p. calculator at marsh-racing says that 140mph x 2,000lbs = 400+ h.p.?? i think that he used to run a turbo'd autocraft motor, on alcohol, you can see more of the car and details of the motor, starting at about the six-minute mark in the Carlsbad video: th-cam.com/video/trnHzRReMjQ/w-d-xo.html

yes, these are flat-4 aircooled engines, but they are running turbos, nitrous, etc.
