This is a very informative video; thank you! I've had retinal detachment surgery in both eyes, in addition to having a scleral buckle installed in one eye. I thank God that I've had great doctors who have preserved my sight.

@@Islami12-f7d , thanks for the kind words! My eyes seem to be fine now, for the most part; I'm HAPPY! =)

My first vitrectomy was reattach retina and a gas bubble, but after 7 weeks it failed. My second vitrectomy involved a scleral buckle and silicone oil and after 5 weeks it seems to be holding. My Dr, said the first attachment failed because of to much scar tissue. Any way in the future the oil will need to be removed, my vision now is extreme blurriness in afftected eye. I waited to long before seeking help and caused the condition to be so much worse. If you notice any floaters, heavy or out of the normal, any light flashes, or symptoms like a curtain falling in eye seek out medical attention immediately, don't wait like I did and cause it to be so much more severe.

Update: its nearing 4 months, retina still attached as far as I know, My next Drs. appointment is 4/19/2023 who knows what will happen. I will need more surgeries to remove the oil, remove cataracts etc. so I patiently wait the out come.

@@beaubrummelmotorizedbicycles Best of luck! I found about my retinal tears and subclinical peripheral retinal detachment. Went for a laser treatment today, went well. Now, It's time to wait and see how things unfold in my case. -9 in both the eyes...

New Update: 5/21/2023 The retina is still attached, the Dr. says after 5 months, it is healed good enough to have one more surgery. Meaning one more surgery to go in the eye and see if it is even a viable choice to install a lens and remove oil and I might be able to see again. If it is marred with severe scar tissue it is not viable, I will keep the oil in for life and live with no vision in right eye. She gave me a choice to wait 3 more months, until 7/12/2023 to do it, meaning, possibly a better outcome then. I have chosen to wait until July.

I’m currently in the process of having my first surgery fail, 1 month post op. Doc thinks liquid got behind retina, now slowly losing sight on right eye. How long is too long to wait, doctor is not as concerned as I am of my vision loss

@@telcodave I'm scheduled for my 3rd and final surgery on August 8, 2023. Its been close to 8 months with the oil in my eye. The Doctor says, she will go in and look and if she deems the retina to be viable, she'll insert a lens, remove the oil and I'll see what I can see. If she deems the retina is not viable to support it, my choice, she can remove the oil and eventually my eye will degenerate and need a artificial replacement or leave the oil in and my eye will stay but I'll have no vision. Anyway, my choice is to leave the oil in and make the best of it. I know what you mean about the Dr. not being to concerned, but I think they do their best to save your sight. I'm hoping for the best but will deal with the worst if it happens and move on. After almost a year of not seeing out of my eye, I am getting used to it and my depth and side vision is improving. Good luck and I hope your sight can be saved.

@@mattarificwolflink9280 They put the buckle in my eye too. Suffered for several days having to be in a looking down position because of the gas bubble. They say because of the surgery I will develop a cataract and need another surgery for that and to correct my now nearsighted vision.

Carry your eye surgery cards and tell an officer about your surgeries if you are given a field sobriety test. It is so hard to hold your head straight and look side to side without the eyes shaking. Peripheral vision is very double.
