Yeah, buddy! If you don't know Eric, this is him in RL. This isn't some BS TH-cam persona. He's trying to help everyone be successful. Community over competition. Great video, my man👌
Eric, you have no idea how much I needed this video. I'm 17 and I'm deciding between pursuing a career in photography, or getting a bachelor's degree. There's nothing else I want to do but take photos, but I've always felt like it was such a risk, and a degree would be safer, but I wouldn't be doing what I love. This reignited my passion and I'm ready to pour all my energy into photography.
i started working with a venue company and only charged $800 at the time, now I've moved towards 1-3k its definitely possible to do 5-10k, you just gotta provide talent thats like no other and have a backing to show your previous work. this is in not accurate but its how i was able to raise to upwards of 3k which is not near the 5-10k but for being 19 years old i still got time to move forward.
That's freaking impressive at the age of 19. Good work! Yeah, what most people don't realize is the years of hard work it takes to make those strides. It's most definitely not something that happens overnight, but I always want to convey and encourage that it's absolutely possible if you take the right approach. Thanks for watching!

You can see this guy's passion in his videos. I've seen a lot of wedding photographers here on youtube but nothing hits me more than this guy. Instantly subscribed.
That bit at the end... first video I've seen from you man and convinced me to subscribe. Especially as someone who's just getting into photography, getting to know my gear, discovering my style and preference.. I feel like I'm just barely tapping potential to have photography be such a significant part of my life and my family as well. Can't wait to see more!

Hi Eric, you made me smile - I can see me, just a few years behind. Serving my clients far beyond other photographers, leaning into what makes me different / night photography, usage of off camera flashes and modifiers, double exposures, silouhettes... and more and more of true moments and emotions, even if it´s beyond the normal line. And it does make you fly. Thank you for your honesty and true yourself and I wish you the very best of for your life journey ;) Martin
You are the best of TH-cam! Thank you for opening up with so much information to the world. You're an inspiration, really helping and motivating in every video, and an amazing teacher.
Do you ever use flash on a wedding day? I have watched your prime lens video on for the wedding and planning on ditching my 17-28 and 28-75. I find it really handy not bringing any flash with lenses that have 1.4 aperture. Is 1.8 aperture ok for weddings? 1.4 prime lenses are kinda expensive
Killer content and message, Eric- as always. Thanks for always inspiring and boosting the creative community in so many ways you probably will never know. 🙏🏼
Storytelling is the art of photography that I am attracted to. To capture a moment that probably can't be recreated is a gift from God. Thank you for your heartfelt words.
I got asked to shoot a wedding, and it would be my FIRST wedding, and even worse, it's in less than a MONTH! Gez. I need to watch all your videos and see if I can even manage this, or what I need to even do
Dude, killing the game! Solid tips and advice. I just wish every new photographer would see this and invest their time and energy on these things. Next part of this series "Make $15-$20k per wedding as a photographer" 😏
Hi Eric, I've found myself in the same boat you were in in college, wondering if the career I had set out for myself was ever going to actually happen. This video was so informative and reassuring that I'll be able to get to a place where I want to be very quickly out of college!
So good to hear! There's no shame in balancing another job while you grow the business. I actually encourage it! Put in the work, keep filling your portfolio, and try to convert all of your inquiries into jobs. You've got this!!
How has Covid changed your wedding photography business in the past few months? I'm curious to know if wedding photographers had an emergency savings account in case of an emergency. If you were the main provider for you and for your family. Plus with Chicago and the riots shootings etc. if that also changed things in your community as a business owner.
These videos are always so good. The endings... damn, these endings really hit home Eric. The way you tie it all back to family is beautiful! Well done
i appreciate all of your videos and have learned so much from you in the past two years. I am slowly breaking into the wedding industry but struggle hard with it. I haven't shot my first wedding yet( I will be soon) and I know when I do, the sky is the limit after that!!
Amazing video, man! Liked and subbed! You’ve inspired me, and I hope to be able to capture moments for people as beautifully as you do one day. Keep up the amazing videos, my guy.
I am just starting photography. Your video are inspiring. One question I have: what kind of people pay 10000$ for weddings photography? I have a hard time imagining paying 10000$ for a wedding. How much do these people spend on a wedding? What is a normal paiement schedule for a paiement like that? What kind of net worth do these people have? How much do they spend on their wedding? What percentage of the total budget do people usually allocated for photography? 10% to 15% would make sense? Is that reasonable?
Eric - Does Polymail ever end up in people’s spam folders? My biggest fear with joining Honeybook or Polymail is not having the assurance that regular old Gmail gives me. Thanks for all you do ❤️
It's still connected to your Gmail account, so you can always go to the Gmail URL if you're ever worried something didn't go through. :) I haven't had any issues at all! This "5K-10K $ " level of being a successful photog ,DEPENDS on wheres the photographer based or located in, the fee problem being a creative isnt limited in one dimension. I lived in small city in Germany for 7 years where i started my career and now based in Bali . I have been professionally freelancing in Germany since 2014 and things became different when moved back to Bali recently, i tell you.. that the marketing and the business depends heavily on where you at. Here in Indo people are still not aware of creative industry where photogs and videographers make a living for themself, i cant use my german price here and vice versa. Maybe because you are american and mostly you target for american audiences , those advices do make sense but for me who just somehow ended up here and not american... idk man but i understood the general ideas in this tho.
Totally agree. In Ghana, only a handful will be willing to pay that much for a wedding. With a saturated competition, no matter how good you are, technical and soft skills, somebody is equally good or better and eager and ready to charge half your price. I client will tell you they only budgeted 80$ for videography and photography for their wedding. Yet they've paid over 1k$ for food, about 500$ for venue, but wanna pay 80$ for videography and photography
I got to tell you, I normally hate this motivational "you can do it, you just have to try" stuff. That's obvious for the most part. But for some dam reason, listening to you makes me think it can be done. I own two businesses, one a franchise (don't recommend) and the other a handyman business.
