A song that sent goosebumps up and down my spine in 1970 and I was just 15. I am still among the living at almost 68 and this song still sends goosebumps up and down my spine 53+ years and counting. I count 1970 as a good year for songs. Even though this may have bumped up against the rock era hard rock songs it still has a place today. I know each generation has "it's own voice" I should not deny what the hold dear to their hearts. It may not speak to me but it surely speaks to them. I am not sure if my 15 year old self would be as open about music expression as I am now. Tony, I am a Yank but your music still rings true.
Brotherhood of Man were formed by record producer/composer Tony Hiller in 1969, and originally featured his co-writer John Goodison with Tony Burrows, Roger Greenaway and genuine sisters Sue Glover and Sunny Leslie. Greenaway was also a songwriter and had co-written hits such as "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" and "Melting Pot". Burrows was a well-known session singer, performing in various line-ups on hit singles such as the No.1 hit "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" by Edison Lighthouse. The two female members, Glover and Leslie were an act in their own right, releasing singles as Sue and Sunny.
Beautiful job covering a beautiful classic. To think that I'm in my 40s and only recently did I hear this song and it was from watching reruns of the Muppet show. Funny how life steers u in directions and opens doors you never knew existed
WOW - i'd always repeated this later incarnation but didn't expect this definitive song to sound this fabulous. The intonation of the choruses is just sooo good! Both male solo is average here, but both male harmonies outstanding - not warmed up enough ? Girls just AMAZING & i'm sorry i didn't take more notice of this line up truly am.
Had not heard this song before. Brotherhood of Man has sung it beautifully. I have always love the songs they sing especially Save your Kisses for me. I hope they on for a few more years.
Although not the original, just hearing this song sends me right to a specific time and place in 1970. The feelings are so strong just like I was back there.
It was originally a hit for Brotherhood Of Man in the early 70s - the original Brotherhood Of Man, that is - an example of a cover being covered by a group with the same name as the group that did it! The Brotherhood Of Man 1976 sing The Brotherhood Of Man 1971!
Linda canción, es increible verlos despues de tanto tiempo, era un niño en aquel entonces y gracias a mi hermana mayor, oí esta canción la primera vez!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
I was on r and r in Sydney Australia in march 1970 when I heard this song. Also heard melting pot for the first time. James jones u s army Vietnam 1968-1970.
I'm 63 yrs old and remember his song as a kid. I haven't heard this song 50 yrs until recently - I can't listen to it in public, bcz I tear up in a good/happy why - IDEKY. Silly me
@@cherylmburton5577 this is the put together version in the mid 70s , the original line up had 2 hits in 1970 this one and where you going to my love , the new version were vey successful. The original are on TH-cam 👍
I don’t think they did such a bad job on this, after all that time? It still sounds crisp and clear, obviously their voices are rather different now. They are a little older? But, still a good rendition of this inspirational song! ❤️♥️❤️😇United We Stand!
They were both good singing groups, so they should have come clean... But they probably thought " It's only Croatia TV, we'll bullshit them".....naughty!
Can it be true that what God gives God does not take away ? Yes, it can. But what God gives He may also take away. Spare me, then, God a while whilst I harken to the youth of my days.
What she failed to point out was none of this lineup were part of the original recording of this song. It was Brotherhood Of Man mark1. They destroy this song here.
Sunday 6 December 2020: Such as great classic song. There should be a big Multiracial event with All races and skin color in every city in America holding hands and singing this great song. God {Adonai, Elohim} does Not see skin color. God only sees the heart and mind.
I would also like a multicultural group to sing Michael Jackson's Heal The World. Heal the World Make it a Better Place For You and for Me And the Entire Human Race
Absolutely beautiful! America 2020 needs to adopt this song under a new President and administration! I’m voting former Vice President Joe Biden for our next president in November 2020 to reunite our country!
Sorry to have to say this but how is the Biden administration working for America these days? Yes, Trump can be a loud mouth buffoon but the country was in much better shape under his administration. I'm a Trump voter and I wished Biden could have done a better job. We are in trouble
Since you wrote this comment, have you changed your mind? Have you seen VP/now president Biden has failed our country. Oh, how do WE REALLY NEED THIS SONG. Please pray for unity and peace.
I think Nicki is being somewhat disingenuous, by appearing to claim that she and her three cohorts have sung or otherwise been involved with "United We Stand" since it's inception - which is how it appears to me. She and her 'mates' should stick to "Save Your Kisses For Me" and its cheesy dance routine and leave UWS to the original Brotherhood Of Man, who sang it ten times better than this mediocre arrangement - sadly that original arrangement will only be available to us on old footage on TH-cam, not least because one of the original five is no longer with us.

All I can say is "thank you" for creating a masterpiece of simplicity and harmony.
A great song.
💞💞💖💖👍👍🌏🌍🌎 Loved this song in 1970. And in 2023 I still love it. Powerful and 💯 true.
One of the haunting songs which never go away. Awesome
I loved it when you first came out with this song! And I still love ❤️ it!
None of them were in the original line-up f BOM and as such did not sing on this hit record .
They are just a tribute band.
Timeless song! Touches my soul! ♥
love this song. love the name of the band, too.
I think this group has done a terrific job of singing an old favorite. 👍

They do it again very well. One my all time favorites. A true masterpiece❤
Have always had time for this group, and they sing this brilliantly.....

1970,3 months in spain,Blanes asked in the disco for this song every night
I will never forget it!
Original singer (male part) was Tony Burrows (Edison Lighthouse) .
You are correct and he sang it with Sunny Leslie who a few years later had a big hit with Doctors Orders
@@stevecampbell6294 And her sister Sue.

Completely different group of people to the ORIGINAL Brotherhood Of Man that recorded and had a hit with this excellent song.
I think at two original singers are represented here: lead female singer is Nicki Stevens, blonde is her sister Sandra Stevens.
@@stevebortolotti35 No Steve they were never in the original group. The two girls in the original group were Sunny Leslie and Sue Glover.

Beautiful 😍
Even though this is a much later line up than the one which had the hit song "United We Stand" they sing it very well indeed.
This is the original group in their old age! One is missing.

Great song. Always will be. One guy short here. Use to be 5 of them
None of them were on the records. Frauds.
Not a patch on the 1970 lineup with Tony Burrows and Sunny Leslie.
Absolutely timeless
Sounds great you guys
Tino Ataahua te waiata ❤ Arohanui Aotearoa New Zealand ❤
Of course this line up did not feature on the original single. In actual fact it was a completely different band. Just the same name.
Good song.
Just Watched this Band last week in Minehead , They were Fantastic .
Saw them there too just brilliant
Even tho this isn’t the original line-up, they still sound good.
Still sounding great
Love it

It didn’t occur to me until now, but they were ABBA before ABBA was ABBA.
Not really - ABBA were a group already around 1970, albeit with another name (Fästfolket).
Tony The genius

liars they never recorded it, it was a totally different line up nack then with tony boroughs , sue and sunny and two others
Tony Burrows, John Goodison, Roger Greenaway and Sue & Sunny, that is the definitive version.
Is Tony Burrows in this lineup?
No, he most certainly isn't.
It's "The Brotherhood of Man" -

This woman must be delirious. This lot had nothing to do with this song. They're just using the name. None of these are original members.
Yes see my comment
What she failed to point out was none of this lineup were part of the original recording of this song.
It was Brotherhood Of Man mark1.
They destroy this song here.
there isnt the same power and passion...sorry but it isnt there
also have . to add i like BOM...but this wasnt their song...IT WAS DONE BY. the original line up
This actually live mikes over the original recording. The mikes were lowered for the chorus revealing the original line-ups voices.

No, they're definitely not Sue and Sunny. This is the line-up that was created in 1973 after all the original members had moved on.
No. Th eoriginal band included one of the writers along with Tony, Johnny Goodison whose wrote under the name Pete Simons
