A little tip that some of you might find helpful when it comes to matching yarns... I've often been asked to repair people's knitting or crocheted shawls, blankets etc and, of course, matching yarn is no longer available because these things are usually decades old. I find I get the best match using a good quality tapestry wool that has been "stranded" so you can use differing numbers of plies to make up the thickness. I've even blended strands of different shades to get as close the matching colour as I can. It works surprisingly well in letting you find a match. It's best, of course, if you take the item to be mended to a real-life hold-them-up-against-each-other brick-and-mortar store. :-)

I find it much easier to use a steel crochet hook (lace making etc) to "pick up the ladder" in a pullover likecthis than a latch hook. I find the latch just gets in the way all the time.

I don't think what I said before is detailed enough. Let me be more specific. I will also release a video to explain it. The extra wool on the left is reserved, and it is needed to darn the hole. Usually, the reserved length of wool is three times the size of the hole. After the hole is mended, if the reserved wool is not used up, you need to hook the wool into the back of the sweater with a crochet, and then weave it into the sweater along the lines of the sweater. If the reserved yarn is too long, you can cut it off.

It's called a latch hook! They're often used to make little shag rugs on a plastic canvas backing but can be used for other little things like this as well. I've seen people use either a double-ended latch hook or a regular one + an embroidery needle like in this video.

Try looking for #0 Lace weight yarn, it is probably fine enough, sock weight might also be a good idea to look at.
