Thanks mate. Most of it is still the original soil from date of purshase. I Removed around 50% of the soil as recommended. Not much needed to be refilled. A cm in the bottom and some gaps were filled up with a mix of akadama and some kind of German produced burned clay. Sorry can’t remember the brand. Nowadays I don't use any of them. Any non organic, ph neutral, gritty kind of substrate will do. I believe there are way to much focus on the soil components, especially expensive ones in the bonsai hobby. As long as you get the watering right for your substrate, tree species and climate most substrates work. I will make a video about soil components in repotting season spring 2023.😀👍
Oh I love this! I think they look amazing. You made such a difference! And I thought doing one was hard work 🤣🤣 I love the look of them as a forest too 😍👍 you’ve inspired me.
Hello there. Thanks for watching. The basic principle I use is getting rid of thick branches and branches growing in the wrong direction or interfering with each others. Other than that its just up to your own preference and liking. No hormone has been used. Careful root work was done in january, 10 months before this vid was done. But just enough to fit in the pot.
Thanks for watching. This species can root from cuttings. So theoretically its possible to do a forest from trees without roots. The process takes long time and are labour intensive. If you are a beginner in horticulture, start with rooted trees.
Ahh, yes....This forest is still very much alive and well. If you just want to make a christmas display that are thrown away after the hollidays its possible to do with rootless trees.
It's looking really good!!
