I literally started a Famicom library this week for $50. Your timing couldn't be sweeter. I didn't get my half dozen game quite as minty as yours but I'm feeling the warm and fuzzys. Thx for the great vid matey and I've added most of those games you picked up to my wishlist!!!
Yeah, it's always much cheaper to buy straight from the source. Plus, I could get more for my money if I go to Hard Off, but I wanted to show that even at a so-called tourist trap you can still make out OK.
@@MadPanicGaming always thought super potato got a bad rap for being a tourist trap. Little more expensive but think it’s worth it especially if I’m only in Japan for a week.
Did you visit Ojamakan while in Osaka? There is a great location about 4 stops past Tenoji Station. They always have specials on loose famicom loose carts and all way cheaper than Super Potato
Importing Famicom games in bulk is the way to go. Pay $20 shipping and get 20 games for $1 each. Literally two bucks a game and you have a great Famicom collection. PS: Rockman 4 and 5 are VERY underrated!
Hmm, the games you can buy in bulk like that, at least in my experience, are usually not in the greatest condition though, typically really dirty or damaged in some way. Also, you end up with copies of Mahjong, Golf, stuff like that.
Love these videos focussing on starting a collection, would be great to do one for each of the consoles. Really want to check out Tokyo Video Gamers when next in Tokyo as well, hopefully they will open up travel soon.
I love this formula of video, and I'm not even concerned by them cause I started my collection 20 years ago, but it's refreshing and make me wanna play those right now! (especially Manhatan Project)
cant wait to go back to japan to continue collecting famicom games now that I am actually studying the language. super excited for famicom super famicom, ps1 japanese games and psp games.
I really recommend the Feihao 4.3" HDMI Famicom Handheld from Ali-Express with the KryzsioCart Flashcart from Ebay. Great for TV play as well and comes with two wireless controllers.
This is reminds me of when just until a few years ago Yamatoku Classic were still on Ebay. Their games may often have been in less of a good condition, but they were extremely cheap and I got lots and lots of Famicom and Super Famicom games for cheap. They usually had like half a dozen of loose cartridges for only a few Dollars. That's why I'm kinda shocked at how expensive some of these games are. But on the other hand it might be better to have a few good and fun games that you really want rather than a lot of fillers inbetween.
I just bought my first super famicom...I have the adapter I think that let's me play regular famicom games on the super...I'm still waiting on my stuff to come thru the mail system...if we would just invent teleportation I could just hop on over to Japan to get my hands on them sooner...lol
It can vary. The price displayed in front of the games is the highest asking price, but some of them are actually cheaper if there's some label damage or damage to the cart.
Nice pick ups, I recently went to a book off in California n they put up lots of famicom games unfortunately they over price all of them which low as 9 dollars super Mario USA was 25 dollars here, u got a great deal at the source lol. Love these 50 dollar pick ups, maybe a mega drive one next or game boy
I’ve been to those locations too, glass case filled with famicom games and every single one has a $30 price tag on it, regardless of condition. If those same games were in a Japan BookOff they’d be under the junk section instead.
some great picks! definitely tempted to import TMNT: Manhattan Project cus I know the US counterpart is higher in price than the other two!! I *think* the hocikey game is on the kunio collection? I do own it on Switch I may have to double check later. great video as always I love me some retro Japanese games!
I believe it was, great game, and a great collection as well. As for Manhattan Project, definitely much more affordable if you go for the Famicom game.
Yeah, TMNT Manhattan Project is a much better choice than Downtown Nekketsu. An untranslated Downtown Nekketsu would be pretty hard to get into for a non-Japanese speaker.
Super Potato is so absurdly overpriced it would be the last place I'd go to look for a Famicom collection under $50. I was choking at how much you were paying for most of those games.
I can agree that Super Potato is mostly overpriced, especially if comparing it to recycle shops like Hard Off, but the point is that even considering that, it's still a hell of a lot better than e-bay, and typically these games are still much cheaper than their US and PAL counterparts.
Amazing video, i really dig your videos 👏 Plus i like your way of picking games!! Maybe you can help me with an "Starting an AWESOME japanese Megadrive Collection for Under $500"?? Cuz i'm starting to collect japanese megadrive and it's very expensive. Plus, there's a ton of great games Thanks a lot Jim, i'm always watching your videos with my partner :D best wishes from Argentina

I like these

Excellent selection of Famicom games and unbelievably affordable price too.

Only one I would add is Famitsa since I’m on a Japanese baseball kick recently…. I have super famista and famista 64 and both are really fun

How do play these games?? I really want to start a Famicom collection but we can’t use, of course, rhe Famicom on VGA, especially on new TVs…
You should get Mappy. Japanese exclusive.
Happy to see you pick up Binary Land. I first played it on a famiclone console as a kid and have loved it ever since.
It's a great game, and still super cheap. I've seen it get reskinned on the NES as well.
Love these videos focussing on starting a collection, would be great to do one for each of the consoles. Really want to check out Tokyo Video Gamers when next in Tokyo as well, hopefully they will open up travel soon.
Great videos cant wait to visit Japan
Cool! I wish you could make a video for game boy next
I wanted to, but since i got the Everdrive…. Love searching for the multicards though

Great stuff my friend. All fantastic choices and a collection anyone would love!

What a great store with so much selection.
These videos are very informative and fun! Your channel is by far my favorite on TH-cam.
I can't believe how available, cheap, and clean these titles are in Japan. I'm living in the wrong place.
I really recommend the Feihao 4.3" HDMI Famicom Handheld from Ali-Express with the KryzsioCart Flashcart from Ebay. Great for TV play as well and comes with two wireless controllers.
great games you picked up :)
They are indeed. It was a fun night at home.
Wow. Some rock solid choices for not a lot of money.
Indeed

ScareScraper Totals of F4 23:30 Penguin Toad
Great list, and always fun to go shopping with you. Would love to see more in this series, especially gameboy and/or gba.
Great video, back to your best.. are there any sharp x68000 games out there
They have some at Super Potato, Beep, and similar game shops, I very rarely run into them anywhere else though.
I just bought my first super famicom...I have the adapter I think that let's me play regular famicom games on the super...I'm still waiting on my stuff to come thru the mail system...if we would just invent teleportation I could just hop on over to Japan to get my hands on them sooner...lol
That hockey game looks great.
Wow. All of these games look mint. Are the labels usually in such great condition?
It can vary. The price displayed in front of the games is the highest asking price, but some of them are actually cheaper if there's some label damage or damage to the cart.
How much did your trip cost?
I need to get over there.
I live here
I recently picked up three PS1 Japan imports. Bushido Blade, Bushido Blade 2, Gussun Oyoyo
Nice. Very affordable games as well.
Great video Jim !
Thank you!

Ouch. I guess they have to recoup on the insane shipping charges that are in effect these days.
I’ve been to those locations too, glass case filled with famicom games and every single one has a $30 price tag on it, regardless of condition. If those same games were in a Japan BookOff they’d be under the junk section instead.
I have an nes toploader and just got my hyperkin 60 pin to 72 pin adapter ss well as my snes 101 region free tray
Great series!
Thank you!

I love this series and really enjoyed watching it.🔥🔥🔥
Ah, a superb choice Jim. Plenty of great famicom games to pick up for 50 bucks and under that's for sure bro. 8^)
Anthony..
looks like a good collection to start off with
Jim, does Tokyo Video Gamers have merch? Would love a shirt or something from there and/or A -BUTTON.
Yes, they have quite a lot of merch actually. Just shoot me a DM, I'll grab you a shirt.
Great vid. Got all of those except binary land
Yeah, TMNT Manhattan Project is a much better choice than Downtown Nekketsu. An untranslated Downtown Nekketsu would be pretty hard to get into for a non-Japanese speaker.
... plus shipping :D unless you're visiting japan of course.
good picks
Western TMNT 3 is 2 in Japan, I didn't know! I think I saw that our 2 is 1. So what's TMNT 1?
Nice game captures! Binary Land seemed interesting!
Hey Jim!
Hey!
I have a question. Do you use footage recorded from your capture card or the ones seen from gameplay and longplay TH-camrs?
Are you falling into the Famicom (NES) collection swamp? I'm the same way. You want to get the masterpieces, don't you? 🙂
I've actually been buying, selling, and collecting Famicom games for over 10 years now. One of my favorite consoles.
However, these days, it's the Everdrive N8 Pro.
Heaven

Earthworm Jim 1&2 needs to come to the Nintendo Switch, whose with me?
Yeah, I'd love to see that. It would be especially cool if we could get the Sega CD and Saturn versions.
Second 🥈!
Comes right after first. :)
@@MadPanicGaming Thanks 😊!

Famicom cartridges are better than NES ones because some of them have special sound chips that makes the game sound 10 times better!
