Doody, you nailed it. Phil has been able to never pay his way in life. He either lucked into a windfall, or got someone else to pay for his life, or go into so much debt that he has to go to court for them to erase the debt and fuck over the people stupid enough to trust him to pay what owed.
He is a grifter and feels entitled to other people's money. If he was disabled and limited in what he could do, then I might be able to see him as something other than a fucking freeloader, but his only disability is his refusal to put any real effort into anything other than begging for others to once again pay his way in life.
I used to want Phil to realize what his life was and changing to be something more than a grifter. At this point, all I want is to watch him panic when the delusion his supports are under starts wearing out.
It might make me an asshole, but I'm eagerly waiting for him to lose everything. There are people out there that are living in poverty, but paying their own way and are grateful for what they have. But not Phil. He lives in luxury and thinks he deserves it because he plays games badly on the Internet.

In a game franchise Phail constantly mock, Yakuza, there's a sidequest in 0 for Majima. In that sidequest he discusses increasing taxes, and says 'if you charge them this amount, they'll accept it, then you can jack the number up later". That's literally what Phail does. The $50 goal seemed like such a 'kind offer', when it was only kind to him.

If Phil gave back some of what he made to his audience (like a free game on steam, Xbox, psn), he'd probably get more money for a longer period of time. But, Phil will not spend one dollar on anything but himself. He talked last week about using some of this new money on fixing his house and you could see how much he hated the idea.
