    What I recommend you do Is stay there for 6 months to a year.
    And then get you a trailer and get your own authority.
    And hopefully you've already got the truck in your name.
    It's a lot safer with your own authority that way a company cannot fire you or cut your contract. Another thing is if you have your own authority and own trailer.. You can set your howling rate and just pull bruce oakley freight as Your broker. And just negotiate for 3.00 - 3.50 a mile But I would probably try to get 4.00 a mile if I could.
    You get a lot more with your own authority

      Thx Rob. If I had plans to work longer maybe. I'm retiring in a few years. I have no desire for all of the above. I prefer to let Oakley do most of the admin so I can just operate my truck. Thanks for watching and reaching out!!

    Just found your channel as I have been following Paperboy Trucker who just recently switched over from Maverick LLC as a flat bedder. I lived very close to A Duie Pyle Bolmar Ave location from 1991 to 2007. Great content and information on your channel.

      @jimmysroadlyfe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what information you are asking, Oakley doesn't let you bring your own trailer. If you are looking to buy your own truck and trailer any where from 200-300k plus.

    I am going to lease on to the hopper division. If I like it there I will consider going to dumps or pneumatics! From everything I see it is going to be a good fit for me.

    • @jimmysroadlyfe
      @jimmysroadlyfe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on! Hit me up at my email Jim and I can get you in touch with a fella that's in hoppers that started with me. Oakley is a great place to settle down.

      @@jimmysroadlyfe I have spent a great deal of time speaking with Dustin. I pulled 40-20 hoppers 25 years ago in the PNW along with self unloaders and what not. I think it will be a good fit for me.
      I do appreciate your video's they make it clearer to me that I am making the right move. I like running under my own authority but man the paperwork headaches are going to go away so maybe I will be able to get some sleep rather than staying up all night doing paper work.
      I will give it six months and if I do well there I will buy one more new truck before I retire. I am really hoping to find a home there.

      @@jimbrock8310 that's awesome Jim. I find Oakley to be refreshingly honest and great people to work with. Best of luck and don't hesitate to reach out after you get started!! And yes! Sleep at night not doing paperwork for hours will be great!!

    You do not "need" a convex mirror on the left side of your hood. The right one is the most important.

    Was your dot physical up already or do everyone has to take a new dot physical

    • @jimmysroadlyfe
      @jimmysroadlyfe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're physical was less than a month from being done safety may accept it. Otherwise you will need a new physical with the local doctor during orientation. After that initial physical you can get one at a location of your choice.

    Good video from you so soon on your Oakley adventure, tell me how does your t680 ride with the end dump, it's 45 feet right, I so use to 53 foot I'm curious how the end dumps and hoppers pull/ride , sorry I can't help you with your bonus I've already talked to Harrison, thanks KC

    • @jimmysroadlyfe
      @jimmysroadlyfe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx much. I'm learning Oakley and this TH-cam thing simultaneously. The end dumps are 40' frame less and the T680 rides great. Came out of a new daycab Peterbilt 579 and this truck rides like a dream compared to that. No worries on the bonus, we all help each other.

      @@jimmysroadlyfe thanks for the reply, I know you were in LTL I guess 2 axles and doubles and triples witch are different them semi's, I like Kenworths, I like the new Cascadia evolution next gens but Freightliners and Volvos cabs rock side to side like a slinky so I pick the t680 it's solid on that aspect but I'm glad to hear you don't get a bucking affect with the shorter bridge of a 40 footer thanks again Jimmy
